The siblings huffed and puffed as they dug up a good number of spring bamboo shoots.

On their way back, Huang Xikong hooked one hand on Wanwan’s small backpack and followed behind her, asking, “Little radish spirit, is the backpack heavy for you? If it’s too much, let your brother carry it for you.”

Wanwan firmly shook her head. “It’s not heavy, I can handle it.”

“Be careful carrying heavy loads, or you might end up stunted,” Huang Xikong continued chattering.

Wanwan stopped in her tracks, stood up straight, and exclaimed loudly, “How could such a small thing possibly stunt my growth?”

Suddenly, Huang Xikong let go, and the weight of the backpack caused Wanwan to fall backwards with a loud thud.

She blinked in confusion, her bottom aching, lying on the ground and questioning her life choices.

Xia Zhihuai quickly put down the backpack and hoe, rescued Wanwan from being crushed on the ground, and anxiously checked her, asking, “Wanwan, are you hurt?”
