Veiled Insults

Cheng Yueshan was completely oblivious to Mrs. Huang's disdain.

He stepped out of the house and stood in the courtyard, basking in the sunlight, finally feeling the coldness in his body start to dissipate.

Originally, Mrs. Huang had intended to pour him some tea, but after suspecting he was Cheng Yueshan, she instantly lost any desire to serve him.

Cheng Yueshan wanted to gather information, so he stuck strictly to his planned script. "Auntie, how are things for you these days?"

Mrs. Huang glanced at him and replied curtly, "Just as usual."

Cheng Yueshan, eyeing the courtyard and quickly thinking on his feet, said, "Auntie, if you run into any trouble, please tell me. I'll do everything I can to help."

Mrs. Huang placed two stools, one in front of Cheng Yueshan and one behind her, and sighed mournfully, "There are some things that even you can't help with."

Hearing a hint of opportunity, Cheng Yueshan perked up, "Auntie, you can't be sure unless you tell me."
