Persuasion with Reason

Outside the perimeter of the Fu family's compound, the female ghost adorned with a pearl necklace delicately pinched the string of beads around her wrist, infusing it with a trace of gloom.

Nearby, the male ghost perched on a maple tree and watched her, unable to resist asking, "Do you truly believe that male ghost will assist you? You go to such lengths to serve him."

"Why wouldn't I believe?" The female ghost slowly retracted her neck, drifting into the air to hang from a tree branch, her slender form swaying in the wind.

"That lord is a formidable spirit. Not only does he refrain from harming us, but he also willingly provides us with some pure gloom. All we need to do is monitor the activities of the Fu family for him. It's a trifling task for us, so why not?"

The male ghost scoffed lightly. "Pure gloom isn't something easily refined. Even those great spirits keep it tightly guarded for their own cultivation. How could they spare even a shred for us?"
