The sunlight was gentle and calm as Gu Di’er carried An Yao through the forest, leisurely wandering without haste.
In just half a day, they had collected half a basket of wormwood, which would be enough for them for about ten days!
They were fortunate to find a prickly fruit tree, which Gu Di’er dug out and replanted outside the cave. An Yao would no longer lack her “toothbrush and toothpaste.”
“Let's go over there and take a look!”
An Yao's eyes lit up as she pointed to the long vines entwined on a nearby tree. She wiggled her slender legs, indicating for Gu Di’er to take her there.
Her delicate soles still throbbed faintly in pain. While the weather was good, she planned to pick some vines and let them dry, so she could weave herself a pair of vine sandals later.
Gu Di’er brought her to the base of the tree, squinting his eyes as he looked up. He then bent over and set her down, transforming into a nearly twenty-meter-long black python. Slowly, he slithered up the tree.
