An Yao shook her head, “I'm fine. Since I waited for you for so long, I took the opportunity to take a bath in the water. But I found out there were fish in the water and nearly got bitten. It startled me!”
Jin looked apologetic, “It's my fault. I arrived late. That cunning snorting beast was quite slippery. It dashed into the forest and disappeared, taking me some time to catch it.”
An Yao saw the massive wild boar he had brought along, and her stomach rumbled with hunger. She licked her lips and pushed the earlier incident to the back of her mind.
As the sky darkened, the two of them found a relatively clean cave, set up a fire, and roasted the wild boar skewered directly on a stick using the simplest method. They had a satisfying meal.
Another half month passed, during which Jin led her across several mountain ranges, through forests and rivers, until they finally saw the towering city walls several tens of meters high—the Beast-gather City.
