Chapter 2 - Decision

While he was in hospital, Nicholas was visited 5 times a week by his mother and fiancé. However, he did not show any attention at all to his fiancé who he had been with for 1 year.

"Nicholas, you look better now."

Nicholas still seemed to be turning his face away from Lala and trying to divert his gaze towards his mother who was sitting next to him.

"Mom! Did you eat regularly today?"

"Yes, this morning a new maid came to the house. The maid immediately prepared breakfast for mother."

Nicholas, who seemed to already know, just had a flat expression and didn't say anything.

Yesterday Nicholas, who had recovered sufficiently and was starting to be able to move some of his body parts, tried to contact a maid service.

As a result, Nicholas chose one of 5 candidates suggested by the maid service provider, which was sent via cellphone along with a picture of the recommended candidate.

Although he was a little unsure about his choice, because Nicholas had not seen or communicated with him directly.

"Were you the one who brought the maid home, Nicholas?"

"Yes.. mom! I just chose the selection yesterday, but I was quite surprised because he was quite quick and started working straight away."

"I'm happy to hear it too, darling!"

Once again, Nicholas showed his indifference towards Lala, by ignoring her conversation.

Lala, who saw the negative response, just kept quiet and watched Nicholas mother because this had happened often, so she was used to Nicholas' apathetic response towards her.

Nicholas took out a box from the pocket under his pillow, while paying attention to the surrounding area.

"Mom..... there's something I want to ask you."

Nicholas opened the contents of the box, which contained an engagement ring between him and Lala, which was given to him directly by his mother on the first day he was engaged.

Nicholas mother responded in surprise, after finding out that the contents of the box held by Nicholas was an engagement ring that he had given her directly.

"What...!"

Nicholas still doubts, will this hurt mother's feelings?. But he knew that his mother would definitely understand his reasons for doing this.

Nicholas had tried to think this through carefully last night, he knew that what he did would make his mother angry and feel sad.

However, with the consequences, Nicholas knew that sooner or later this would happen and he was ready to accept those consequences, because he didn't want to hide his own feelings.

Nicholas didn't want to hurt Lala feelings any further because he thought Lala was a good woman, so it was appropriate for her to get a better man than him and love him with sincere feelings.

Because all this time he couldn't give all these things to Lala, even though he tried repeatedly he still couldn't. Because from the bottom of his heart Nicholas couldn't love Lala at all.

Nicholas' mother, who heard Nicholas' statement, only hoped for the best for her son's future.

With a heavy heart, Nicholas returned his engagement ring to his mother.

"This...! I'm returning the engagement ring that mother gave me."

"I'm sorry mom? because I have disappointed you a lot."

"It's okay son, mom understand your feelings!"

Nicholas' mother received back the engagement ring she had given to Nicholas from his hand.

On the other hand, Lala, who had been standing behind Nicholas's mother, showed a surprised expression, but she still tried to be strong. On the other hand, Lala also felt relieved because Nicholas had dared to tell the truth about his feelings.

So this can make her get to know Nicholas better and improve her relationship with Nicholas. unlike when she was engaged to him where Nicholas seemed to be closed off to her.

"Even though I'm not your fiancé anymore, can I visit your house as a friend? I already consider auntie to be my own real mother so I would be very grateful if you let me stop by once in a while."

"Don't worry, I have no hidden intentions of getting you back."

"Yes...okay! You can visit our house whenever you want, our door is always there for you."

for the first time, Nicholas spoke very casually with Lala.

Nicholas mother responded positively to her son's decision.

"Of course you can, why not! Besides, Lala is a good girl, mom believe what Lala says."

"Thank you for your trust, auntie."

Seeing the closeness between his mother and Lala made Nicholas remember what his father said before he died. He once advised him that if he had to be more careful in choosing a life partner, he really had to choose a woman who was sincerely loyal and loved him and his mother.

According to Nicholas, his decision was just to be sure, he wanted to know more about Lala, whether she was just pretending to be good to her family and only aiming for their wealth or whether she really loved her family sincerely.

He doesn't care, he will give everything he has, if Lala really loves her family with a sincere heart.

As long as Nicholas is her fiance, she cannot freely know everything about Lala, maybe her decision to make him just a friend was the right decision so that he would be freer to know everything about Lala life.

"Lala! I also want to apologize for being unkind to you and hurting your feelings."

"It's okay! I've forgiven you, really."

Nicholas mother looked at the two of them with a happy look, seeing a sight she had seen for the first time, even though at this time Lala was no longer Nicholas fiance. But Nicholas mother was still happy because their relationship had improved.

Lala suddenly asked curiously about the type of woman he likes, but still kept himself as a friend.

"Nicholas, could it be that you already have another woman you like?"

"Well.... For the time being, nothing! I will still think about it!"

This time Nicholas was seen smiling more, unlike usual.

Suddenly the nurse came, to check on Nicholas current condition.

"How is my son condition, doc?"

The doctor checked Nicholas body condition using the stethoscope he was carrying and repeatedly pressed it against Nicholas chest.

"Hmm...His condition is stable."

"Haa... Thank God! So he can come home quickly right, doc."

Nicholas mother breathed a sigh of relief when she heard the doctor statement that her son condition was gradually improving.

"Yes, sure? He can go home in 3 days."

Nicholas was very happy to be home soon, especially since he had to take care of work at the office and he also wanted to see what the woman who was the new maid at his house was like.

He was so happy that he forgot that his body was still not completely healed, he tried to stretch his body. But the result was that he was in pain when he tried to flex his muscles, "Ad-du-duh....."
