Mission Passed

"Wonderful! Wonderful! Well, my friends, for the sake of her own life, Medusa has chosen to surrender and become a vassal of the Devourer."

The Grandmaster appeared, his resonant voice filled with irrepressible excitement. His appearance signaled that this year's championship battle had reached its final stage.

"Now, I declare the winner of the championship battle. Let us greet this glorious name with cheers and shouts. He is... the Devourer!"

The Grandmaster's voice rose dramatically, and the crowd's cheers reached a deafening peak.

"Bang bang bang..."

Countless bright fireworks and salutes exploded, and the huge screen was completely occupied by the name and figure of the Devourer.

"Today, we witnessed the birth of a new champion..."

"According to the eternal rules of Sakaar, from now on, the Devourer will obtain the supreme glory and absolute freedom of Saka as he wishes!"

The Grandmaster's continuous announcements echoed with the audience's waves of applause and shouts, stirring everyone's emotions to a fever pitch.

All the gates of the arena opened, and in the air, a 'ladder' symbolizing glory extended out, becoming brilliantly illuminated. This ladder continued to stretch until it reached Johnny.

Seeing this, Johnny smiled slightly. Although he felt indifferent towards the so-called champion's glory, the warm atmosphere did excite him a bit. He slowly raised his legs and ascended the "ladder" step by step, each step solidifying his victory.

"With the birth of the champion, Saka's carnival is about to begin. In the next week, Saka will hold a grand celebration. All Saka citizens are invited to partake in this rare joy together!"

As Johnny climbed the ladder, he nearly stood on the same level as the light and shadow of the High Lord. Grandmaster's voice sounded once more, filling the arena with finality and jubilation.

"Remember, all of this comes from our champion!"

After a ceremonial Saka victory celebration, Johnny slowly left the arena amid a crowd of crazed fans. This time, he was no longer bound by the restrictions of a fighter and was placed in an enormous, independent building—one of the honors of being the champion.

Johnny's prize, Medusa, who was still unconscious, was also brought to the building at his command.

"Congratulations to the host, you have completed the system task!"

The system's prompt echoed in Johnny's mind once he was alone, away from the reveling crowd.

Hearing the system's notification, Johnny's eyes glinted with excitement.

"Task completion rewards: 1000 Devouring Points, One-time Ignore Distance Transmission, Ability to Devour Unlimited Gem Energy unlocked!"

Johnny's personal attribute panel now displayed an additional 1000 devouring points.

"World task is open: Collect Unlimited Gems, completion degree 0/6!"

A new task notification appeared.

After a series of system prompts, Johnny's mind finally calmed as he absorbed the influx of information. The realization of what he had achieved stirred a huge wave of excitement within him.

The 1000 devouring points could upgrade his current abilities by ten levels. With careful planning, Johnny's already formidable strength could increase significantly.

The Ignore Distance Transmission ability allowed Johnny to bypass the vast distance between Sakaar and Earth, enabling him to appear on Earth with a single step.

But the most significant reward was the ability to devour the energy of the infinite gems. Johnny now understood the immense potential of this ability.

If he could obtain the infinite gems, he wouldn't need any special method to use them. He could directly control them, extract their energy, and devour it, converting it into his own power.

The infinite gems in the Marvel universe represented the six most powerful forces in existence. This power was now within Johnny's reach, making his potential nearly limitless.

Filled with new resolve, Johnny looked over to where Medusa lay. She was not just a trophy but a potential ally. If he could bring her over to his side, they could be unstoppable together.

He approached her, contemplating the future and the unimaginable power now within his grasp. "Medusa," he whispered to the unconscious figure, "this is just the beginning."

After completing his first system task, Johnny felt a renewed eagerness and motivation to find the Infinity Stones. From his knowledge of the Marvel universe, he knew that most of the Infinity Stones would appear on Earth. As long as he arrived on Earth, he would have plenty of time to collect them at his own pace.

However, according to the timeline he was familiar with, when he first arrived in this world, Odin was in his prime, leading the armies of Asgard to pacify the Nine Realms. The goddess of death, Hela, as well as Thor, the god of thunder, and Loki, the god of mischief, hadn't even been born yet. This meant that it would be thousands of years before the significant events on Earth began to unfold.

Johnny knew he had ample time to strengthen himself and build his forces before those events began. When the time came and the Infinity Stones emerged, he would be ready to act.

"Host, it is necessary to remind you that you left the Rainbow Bridge and entered the alien space earlier. The speed of time in the alien space differs from the speed of time in the universe," the system's voice suddenly prompted, breaking Johnny's train of thought.

"What do you mean by 'the speed of time is different'? How long was I in the alien space?" Johnny asked, slightly stunned.

"The host stayed in the alien space for three months," the system replied, which made Johnny relax a little.

"But nearly five thousand years have passed in the main universe," the system continued, and Johnny felt as if he had been struck by lightning.

"What a joke?!" he exclaimed after a long pause, the shock evident in his voice.

He had stayed in the alien space for three months, but nearly five thousand years had passed in the main universe. This revelation was difficult for him to accept. If five thousand years had truly passed since he had crossed over, his current age would be calculated in millennia.

The answer left Johnny stunned for a long time before he slowly came back to his senses.

"System, can you tell me what time it is now on Earth?" he asked, needing to know if he had missed crucial events.

"According to Earth's calendar, it should be the mid-19th century, not long after the end of World War II," the system replied after a short silence.

"My god! But at least it's not too late..." Johnny sighed in relief. This point in time was still early in the Marvel timeline. If he acted quickly, he would be able to witness and influence the significant events to come.

Putting aside the timeline issue for now, Johnny's gaze fell on the beautiful 'trophy' lying on the large bed in the room, still unconscious.
