After getting dressed Logan went to the library to get some cultivation slips. On arriving there he told the librarian he had come to look for a cultivation slip to choose from.
The librarian was surprised "You've unlocked your affinity to the essence of nat..." He suddenly pauses 'This aura! It can't be!'
He didn't dare believe it until he probed Logan with his essence. "Eight stage elementary realm! And at the middle stages?!" He was shocked by what he saw, the last time Logan came here he didn't have an affinity to the essence of nature and he was sure because there was no way he could be tricked, even a grade five artifact could not escape his probing.
'I am as shocked as you too, Mr.!' Logan thought as he smiled and lightly nodded.
After being stunned the librarian finally got over his shock and led Logan towards where the cultivation slips were kept.
Logan reached another area of the library where the books looked quite scanty, the librarian went to a corner and pushed down a book as a rumbling sound was heard and the wall opposite the bookshelf began shifting to the side.
'Isn't that unsafe? Anyone could just enter and take what they want!'
The room was lit with multiple lanterns on either side of it. Staying firmly at the corners and giving light to the whole room. The room was quite large.
Logan saw a variety of techniques ranging from fire and water to light and darkness arranged in order of their colours. He reached out to the first skill on the fire side, there were only two skill that was in the elementary realm at the lowest part of the shelf.
On the slip, the duration estimated for a person to learn the skill was written with a purple grade being the fastest 'in three weeks.'
After thinking for a while Logan had decided what skill he would be taking in preparation for the tournament.
'I think I'll just choose fire for attacking and this ice skill looks good for defence.'
He decided and choose fire, water and light because the rest were looking far too difficult, he did know his talent grade and the tournament was at hand. Like just the elemental level for a purple grade darkness elementalist took about two months, if he had the darkness element, he could imagine by the time of the tournament he would be abilitless, but with the fire and ice skill at least he could comprehend somethings before the tournament begun in two weeks time.
Each of the skills was arranged in realms, but here he could only see the elementary and intermediate realm skills all the way to the advanced realm. "Perhaps they are in a more safer room." Logan thought with a chuckle.
From the elementary realm skills, Logan had to choose one skill for each element because they seemed to be sealed in a transparent box that had multiple inscriptions in them. 'Probably to stop someone from taking more than one skill.'
He browsed through the jade slips that contained the information and techniques of the skills.
For the fire element, he picked the flame sword skill. "After this, I'll probably go to the armoury to pick a weapon. This flame sword should suit me well," he thought.
For the ice element, he chose the ice barrier 'This is quite good for defence, almost on the level of the earth element. Unfortunately, I only possess three elements.'
When he was about to select a skill for the light element, his eyes were drawn to an old, worn-out jade slip that was lying in the sound element section.
He picked it up and found out that it was incomplete, but he felt a strange attraction to it. 'Oh it's the sound element, so unfortunate, I don't posse-" Logan was about to finish talking when he felt a tingling sensation like some little creature was running all over his skin.
' What's happening to me?' he felt whatever was happening to him wanted him to keep the skill.
'But it's incomplete! Sigh, you know what, forget it, I'll keep it and try to gain some knowledge from it' As he made that decision, the weird feeling suddenly stopped.
He showed the librarian the jade slips he had selected.
The librarian frowned when he saw the old incomplete jade slip. "This jade slip was found in an ancient ruin by the previous head of the faction. We don't know what grade it is, but it's incomplete. I wouldn't advise you to take it," he said.
Logan thanked the librarian and said, "I just want to gain some insight from it. I'll come back and exchange it as soon as possible." The librarian reluctantly agreed, thinking that it was a waste of time, he slightly shook his head as he watched the back of Logan.
After selecting the elemental skills he needed, Logan went to the armoury to pick a weapon.
He saw a young man who looked to be in his mid-forties on a deck as he entered the office.
"Good day, sir! I'm here to pick a weapon." Logan greeted jovially.
"You haven't picked a weapon yet?" the man was slightly surprised because normally students pick their weapons at the beginning of their cultivation journey but the kid before him seems to be quite different.
"Yes sir, there was a slight delay" 'In my plot armour' Logan added the last part inwardly as the man turned around and led him into a room similar to the previous one he went to.
There were few books on the shelves and Logan could not help but pray aloud in his mind 'Please let it not be a book - hidden door!'
'Sigh! F**king olden days' Logan was left disappointed as the man slowly pulled the book crushing his feelings. The rumbling sound of the door slightly opening woke him from his thoughts as the man led him in.
He looked around and saw various types of weapons, spears, daggers, spikes, etc, but he had already decided on a sword, which was more convenient for him.
We'll not convenient, it was just the delusion Logan was using to hide his true reason.
'I can't wait to be a fucking power ranger!' Logan had always wanted to be a Power Ranger after watching the Ninja Steel Power Rangers, even almost going to a ninja school but now he had a chance to be a real-life Power Ranger. He couldn't help but feel excited.
As they walked into the armoury instructor explained the pros and cons of each weapon as they walked deeper into the building.
"The spear can slice through a wide range of people at a single slash. But it is too heavy and at times can slow you down, leaving you undefended"
"The synth is a difficult weapon to master, you could even spend ten years mastering it! But when it is mastered it is very powerful"
'Sigh! Just shut the f**k up and lead me to the location of the swords!' Logan had already made up his mind to choose a sword. "That's a good choice too," the instructor said after Logan had told him the weapon he had decided on picking.
They soon reached the sword location, and after hours of torture to Logan his eyes finally lit up as he smiled.
"Go ahead and pick any elementary realm sword you like." the armoury instructor said as he pointed to the section where different types of swords were arranged.
