Chapter 229 - The Perfect Girlfriend.
"Maybe he was just joking," Riveria said with a stiff smile.
Although Riveria was not particularly fond of her elven identity—otherwise, she would not have abandoned royalty and come to Orario alone—the idea of Mahiro and the them clashing still made her uneasy.
Riveria suddenly found herself imagining: what if Mahiro really subdued those bastards?
Would she have to marry him when the time came?
But... she didn't have any feelings for him at all.
While she didn't dislike Mahiro, that didn't mean she had any romantic feelings for him either.
Moreover, it was still a matter of romantic feelings between a man and a woman.
That's why she hated these adolescent boys—they could come up with anything when their brains were overheated.
Riveria sighed inwardly.
"I don't think he's joking," Tione said with a fox-like smile, unable to resist adding fuel to the fire.
She had never seen Riveria look so troubled before, especially over a boy.
Opportunities like this were rare.
"Riveria, I hope to see you in a wedding dress in a few years," Tione teased, pretending to be serious.
Riveria shot Tione a glare, but the instigator remained unfazed, seemingly unaware of Riveria's gaze.
Of course, Tione knew her limits. She stopped joking and didn't push Riveria further, or things might have escalated.
Leaving the square, the group walked toward Twilight Manor.
"Riveria, have you considered inviting Mahiro to join our expedition team?" Tione suddenly asked along the way.
"Yes! If we invite Mahiro to join our expedition team, wouldn't we get to spend time with him day and night?" Tiona chimed in, her eyes sparkling.
"I've thought about it," Riveria admitted with a nod.
With Mahiro's strength, he could easily join the expedition team.
And, most importantly, there was his teleportation magic.
That would be a game-changer for the expedition team.
The Loki Familia had gone on many expeditions, but each time, they were forced to retreat due to one critical factor: supplies.
Expeditions were incredibly costly.
Weapons and equipment often wore out and became unusable.
In the dungeon, especially in the deeper floors, a broken weapon could spell disaster.
"However, I don't know the range of Mahiro's teleportation magic. If it can't be used in the lower floors, it won't be of much help to the expedition," Riveria continued.
"Also, the Hestia Familia has just been established. As the captain, Mahiro has a lot to handle. Inviting him now might not be appropriate."
Hearing this, the others agreed with Riveria's reasoning and dropped the idea of inviting Mahiro to join the expedition.
"But we can invite him on the next expedition," Riveria added after a moment of thought.
After parting ways with the four members of the Loki Familia, Mahiro headed straight for the valis exchange in Babel.
The place was slightly busier than usual.
Many adventurers were lined up at the exchange windows, waiting to convert magic stones into valis.
These adventurers had likely returned from the dungeon yesterday.
When Mahiro walked in, everyone's eyes turned toward him.
"Isn't that the magic stone from the Floor Boss? Did it really drop from Goliath?"
Many were stunned when they saw the magic stone Mahiro was carrying.
"Who is this guy? He's so bold—did he kill the Floor Boss?" someone exclaimed.
"Is he really the one who killed it? He doesn't even have decent equipment. How could he have defeated the Floor Boss?" another adventurer wondered aloud.
Mahiro had changed his clothes to match the style of this world, but he hadn't bothered to buy armor or other gear.
After all, he didn't need it.
"Huh? Isn't that the kid who's friends with the Sword Princess?" someone recognized Mahiro.
"Wait, I think I saw the Sword Princess and the Loki Familia accepting the quest to defeat Goliath at the Guild," another adventurer chimed in.
"That makes sense. There's no way this kid could've killed the Floor Boss."
"It must've been the Loki Familia. This kid was probably just running errands for them."
"Yeah, just an errand boy."
None of the adventurers believed Mahiro could have defeated Goliath.
Although two days had passed, the conflict between Mahiro and Loki was still a hot topic.
Many adventurers had heard that the Sword Princess, Ais, was infatuated with a rookie adventurer.
"Did the Sword Princess give him the magic stone after defeating the Floor Boss?"
As soon as these words were spoken, the previously dismissive chatter about Mahiro suddenly quieted.
The magic stone dropped by a Floor Boss, while not a fortune for a Level 5 like the Sword Princess, was still a big amount of valis.
And she just gave it to this pretty boy?
No way!
The adventurers in the counters looked at Mahiro with a mix of envy and resentment.
They all wanted a girlfriend like that—beautiful, capable, powerful, and so devoted.
The perfect girlfriend.
Hearing the adventurers' chatter, Mahiro could only smile wryly.
There was no point in explaining himself to these people.
But seeing their expressions shift from disdain to envy and jealousy was somewhat amusing.
"Please wait a moment."
The staff at the counter noticed Mahiro and the magic stone he was carrying.
A staff member came over to evaluate it.
Under the envious and resentful gazes of the adventurers, Mahiro walked out of the counter with four million valis in hand and headed straight back into the dungeon again.
