Chapter 237 - A Supporter!?
Mahiro's main focus was hunting monsters, though he was also searching for a way to the next floor.
However, with his attention primarily on monsters, his efficiency in pathfinding naturally decreased.
Moreover, the 25th floor was much larger than the previous floors.
As a result, by the time Mahiro finished, he still hadn't found the passage to the next floor.
Mahiro used up teleportation magic to teleport to the babel square.
Perhaps due to the previous two shocks, his appearance this time didn't cause much of a stir.
Carrying pouches, Mahiro headed straight to the guild.
The guild was bustling with activity, the number of adventurers several times higher than in the morning.
This was the time when adventurers returned from the Dungeon.
After a day of adventure, they naturally exchanged their loot for valis and then went off to enjoy themselves.
Trade Counters were packed with adventurers.
Originally, Mahiro had planned to exchange magic stones for valis, but seeing the crowd, he decided against it.
Instead, he went straight to the advisor counter.
Greeting Eina and Misha, he asked about the supporters.
"I'm sorry, but we haven't found any suitable supporters yet," Eina said with a bitter smile.
"I contacted a few reliable supporters during the day, and they were very tempted by the price you offered."
"However, when they heard about your situation, they backed out."
This was to be expected.
Supporters were typically Level 1 adventurers—and among the weaker ones at that.
Mahiro's situation was simply too outrageous for these Level 1 adventurers.
While the valis he offered was tempting, their lives were more important.
Not everyone had the courage to risk their lives.
Supporters, in particular, tended to be the less courageous type.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have chosen to be supporters who followed others around.
Being civilian would have been a better option for them.
So, when Eina explained Mahiro's situation, these supporters immediately declined.
If it weren't for Eina's good reputation, they might have even thought she was trying to trick them.
A rookie reaching the 22th floor alone?
Who would believe that without seeing it with their own eyes?
It was understandable why these supporters backed out.
"Well, if there really aren't any supporters, it's fine. I can manage on my own. It's just a bit more troublesome," Mahiro said with a smile, not particularly disappointed.
"I'll keep looking. There are a few reputable supporters who are currently teaming up with others."
"They should be finishing up soon. When they're free, I'll contact them, and you can talk to them in person," Eina said, unwilling to give up.
This was the first request she had received since becoming Mahiro's advisor.
If she gave up now, she feared Mahiro would be disappointed.
If the supporters didn't believe her words, then letting them talk to Mahiro face-to-face would solve the problem.
In fact, Eina had wanted to arrange a meeting between Mahiro and the supporters she contacted earlier that day, but the others didn't believe her and left.
Eina had been furious.
She decided that, in the future, she would withhold Mahiro's information when contacting supporters.
Let them witness his power for themselves.
"Sure," Mahiro nodded, then smiled and bid farewell to Eina.
Passing through the crowded hall, Mahiro headed to the Hephaestus's shop on West Street, following his usual route.
However, as he stepped out of the guild, a delicate and youthful voice called out to him.
"Wait, handsome onii-chan!"
The voice was crisp and sweet, instantly conjuring the image of a cute young girl.
Moments later, a figure less than 1.5 meters tall ran up to Mahiro, slightly out of breath.
"Onii-chan, you walk too fast," the girl said, stopping in front of him.
"Are you calling me?" Mahiro looked down.
The girl barely reached his chest.
She wore a loose cream-colored robe with a hood that covered her head, obscuring her face.
"Yes, you're the only handsome onii-chan here," the girl said with an innocent smile.
"Quite the flatterer," Mahiro said, amused, as he studied the girl in front of him.
"I'm just telling the truth," the girl replied, her smile as innocent as her appearance.
As she spoke, the girl's face became visible.
Her chestnut-colored, slightly curly hair escaped the confines of the hood, and her cute, youthful face evoked an urge to pat her head.
Mahiro couldn't help but be momentarily stunned.
"Don't look at me like that," the girl said shyly, her voice soft as a whisper.
Mahiro quickly averted his gaze. He had already recognized the girl.
She was the female thief he had encountered in the alley on his first day in this world—the one who had tried to snatch his phone while escaping.
"You stopped me. Do you know me?" Mahiro asked calmly.
"I don't," the girl shook her head blankly, then smiled shyly. "But, onii-chan, I really wanted to meet you."
"Oh?" Mahiro raised an eyebrow.
It was understandable that she didn't recognize him.
After all, Mahiro's current outfit was completely different from what he had worn on their first encounter.
Moreover, their meeting had taken place in a dark alley.
