Chapter 240 - Mahiro: Don't Believe Me?
A magic circle with a diameter of two meters appeared beneath their feet, and Lili's face showed an expression of utter surprise.
"What is this?" Lili asked, her voice filled with suspicion.
Magic circles weren't particularly rare in Orario, and Lili had seen them before.
"Come here, Lili," Mahiro said.
Lili hesitated for a moment, then stepped toward Mahiro.
Although she didn't know what kind of magic this was, she figured it couldn't be dangerous in such a public place.
"That kid's using magic again."
"Does anyone know what kind of magic that is? Or is it even magic?"
"I don't know. I've seen him do it two or three times now. He just appears and disappears out of nowhere."
"Who knows what that magic circle is?"
"Should we go ask him?"
"Does anyone here actually know him?"
Babel Square was bustling with adventurers in the morning.
Many of them had seen Mahiro before, so they weren't as shocked as they had been initially.
Still, curiosity lingered.
They wanted to know what secrets lay behind this magic that allowed someone to vanish and reappear so suddenly.
Hearing the adventurers' chatter, Lili's worries and doubts lessened.
It didn't seem dangerous. She felt a bit more at ease.
One of the adventurers gathered the courage to approach Mahiro.
However, before he could say anything, the figures of Mahiro and Lili vanished from the magic circle.
The adventurers were left speechless.
***
"Where are we?" Lili asked, her voice trembling as she looked around in shock.
The noisy, bustling street filled with adventurers was gone.
The surroundings were dimly lit, and the area looked wild and desolate.
The ground was bare, and a faint mist hung in the air, obscuring visibility. In the distance, strange caves dotted the landscape.
Lili stared in disbelief.
As a supporter who had spent years in the Dungeon, the scenery felt familiar. Such an environment rarely existed above ground.
This incongruous scene could only be found in one place—the Dungeon.
In other words, they were in the Dungeon.
"Dungeon, 25th floor," Mahiro replied.
"Mahiro-sama... hahaha..." Lili forced a laugh, her voice dry and unnatural. "You must be joking, right?"
Lili couldn't believe it.
The 25th floor? That was already part of the lower floors—a dangerous area where even Level 3 adventurers had to tread carefully.
How could they have gone from the surface to thie floor in the blink of an eye?
She had never heard of such an outrageous way to enter the Dungeon.
Besides, Mahiro didn't look like a Level 3 adventurer.
"Don't believe me?" Mahiro asked with a playful smile.
How could she believe it?!
Lili screamed internally, though her face still wore that stiff, fake smile.
"It's just... Lili is so surprised. To come here all at once—this is a floor Lili has never been to before," Lili said, her laughter hollow and insincere.
"Is that so?" Mahiro smiled and patted Lili's head. "Then I'll let you gain some insight today."
Gain insight? What insight?!
And stop patting my head! Don't you know I'm already short enough?! Lili cursed inwardly, though her face remained sweet and compliant.
What Mahiro said was utterly outrageous.
He was just an adventurer who didn't even have a decent set of equipment, yet he dared to claim she'd gain insight on this floor?
Did he really think Lili was some naive, gullible girl?
Lili had tricked countless adventurers in the past.
Cunning was her middle name. How could she possibly be tricked by Mahiro?
"By the way, Mahiro-sama."
"How did we even get here? Weren't we just in Babel Square?"
"Teleportation magic," Mahiro explained. "It's my unique magic. I can teleport directly from the surface to any floor of the Dungeon."
Lili scoffed internally. This was getting more and more ridiculous.
Teleport to any floor?
If she hadn't spent so much time as a supporter, she might have fallen for it.
But everyone knew that adventurers had to traverse the Dungeon floor by floor.
If such powerful magic existed and was used so openly, Mahiro would have been famous across Orario by now.
"That's amazing! It must be a rare magic. This way, we can save so much time traveling and use it to earn more Valis," Lili said, her praise dripping with insincerity.
"Lili is so lucky to have met such a formidable adventurer like you."
He had to admit, even though it was all lies, Lili was quite good at talking.
No wonder she had managed to deceive so many adventurers in the past.
Crack... thud...
Suddenly, a cracking sound interrupted their conversation.
Lili froze.
She knew that sound all too well—it was the sound of a monster emerging.
"Mahiro-sama?" Lili whispered, her voice trembling as she stood close to him.
"This area seems to be a monster spawning point."
"I noticed the terrain was good when I left yesterday, so I set it as a temporary teleportation spot," Mahiro explained casually.
Lili: "..."
Before she could respond, a massive humanoid monster burst out of the ground.
Lili's eyes widened in shock.
She had never seen such a large monster on the floors she had visited before.
Even if she didn't know the name or rank of this monster, the aura it exuded was undeniably stronger than any monster she had ever encountered.
