Chapter 5: Graduation Day

As weeks turned into months, Ginah and Miya's relationship continued to deepen. Their tutoring sessions had evolved into enjoyable get-togethers, and Saturdays spent together had become the highlight of Ginah's week. Miya, too, had grown to cherish Ginah's company.

With the semester drawing to a close, Miya's high school graduation loomed on the horizon. After four years of dedication and hard work, she eagerly anticipated receiving her diploma and embarking on a new journey at university. Ginah, however, felt a bittersweet ache. She had grown accustomed to Miya's presence and wasn't sure how she would manage without her mentor and friend.

The day of the graduation ceremony arrived, and Ginah attended to show her support. She watched proudly as Miya crossed the stage, diploma in hand, and received congratulations from the school principal.

As Miya stepped off the stage, she was greeted by a sea of familiar faces—family, friends, and classmates—all beaming with pride. Among them stood Ginah, holding a bouquet of flowers and wearing a bright, supportive smile.

Miya scanned the crowd until her eyes found Ginah. Her face lit up as she made her way over. Ginah handed her the bouquet, and Miya enveloped her in a warm hug.

"Thank you for being here," Miya said, her voice thick with emotion. "It means so much to me."

"I wouldn't have missed it for the world," Ginah replied, smiling. "You deserve every bit of this celebration. You've worked so hard."

As they hugged, Ginah felt a rush of emotions. She had wanted to confess her feelings to Miya for some time and decided that today was the day. Taking a deep breath, she pulled back and looked into Miya's eyes.

"Miya, can I talk to you for a minute?" Ginah asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Miya nodded, curiosity flickering across her face, and followed Ginah to a quiet corner of the auditorium.

"What's on your mind, Ginah?" Miya asked gently.

Ginah drew in another deep breath, then spoke from the heart. "Miya, I've loved spending time with you this past year. You've been an incredible mentor and friend, and I've learned so much from you. But…I need to be honest—my feelings for you go beyond friendship. I've developed deeper feelings for you, and I wanted to know if you feel the same way."

Miya's expression softened as she took in Ginah's words. "Ginah, I'm truly flattered," she said gently. "You're an incredible person, and I've loved getting to know you. But I have to be honest—I don't feel the same way. I care about you deeply as a friend, but I don't feel a romantic connection."

Ginah felt a pang of disappointment but mustered a brave smile. "It's okay, Miya. I understand. I just wanted to be honest with you. I'm glad we can still be friends."

Miya smiled warmly and hugged Ginah again. "Of course, we'll always be friends. I'll treasure the time we've spent together. You're an amazing person, and I know you'll find someone who loves and appreciates you for who you are."

Ginah returned the hug, feeling a mix of sadness and gratitude. She knew she'd always care for Miya but also understood the importance of moving forward.

"Thank you, Miya," Ginah said, smiling. "You've been an incredible friend, and I'll always cherish our time together."

Miya nodded, her smile unwavering. "And I'll always be here for you, Ginah. You're going to do amazing things—I know it."

With that, they parted ways, each embarking on a new chapter. Ginah would continue navigating high school, while Miya began her university journey. Yet, no matter where life took them, the memories of their time together would remain a cherished part of their hearts.
