After the last drunken incident,Mrs. Diwnes lived with James and his father.
"No, how can he just despise his own son, there has to be a reason." Says Mrs. Diwne while sitting on the bed in the guest room.
She could not sleep, the thought of how much hate her brother had for his son bothered her.
She goes to the living room to clear her mind, and to her suprise her brother is there.
She goes in and sits beside him.
He is crying.
After a minute of silence she asks her brother, James' father, "Robert why do you hate your boy so much??"
"Tell me what's the story behind it." She continued
James' father, Robert, wipes his tears and sobs quietly.
He begins, "It happened a long time ago." He says and sighs
"I had told her it was fine if we didn't have a child, that worse we would adopt a child." He says and sighs again.
"But she, she wouldn't listen, she wanted her own child. Often times I met her crying, she was always over thinking, she hardly even slept." He says and shakes his head slowly.
"We were at the park one day and a red haired man came to us. He looked at her and said, ' That which you seek lies in your hands woman, come to the jirny beach by four in the morning and you would be blessed with a child. Then he immediately started walking away from us."
"We looked at ourselves for a while and wondered how a stranger would know our fate."
" 'Wait, sir, sir...' She tried to call out to the man but he had disappeared, we didn't see him again."
" 'No, that man looks crazy baby'. I remember telling her. But she didn't say a word. 'Besides, what the hell is the Jirny beach??!!!' I said to her but she didn't move."
"She was still thinking. 'Someone knows' she said and smiled."
"I knew she was going to do something stupid. I pleaded, I begged, 'Please don't go. Please', I tried hard.
"She finally said to me,'fine I won't go'.
I was really happy."
"The next morning I didn't see her on the bed, she wasn't in the house either.
She had gone, she lied."
She came back very late, I was so worried. I asked her what had happened, she smiled so brightly and said,
'Robert I'll soon be a mother.'
"She was pregnant, her belly grew.
She had loved to rub it, and she would always sing to it. She even named it before it was born"
"When she was due, she experienced labour, infact I had never seen her in so much pain."
"She was rushed to the hospital and taken to the labour room. I had followed her,
she pushed and pushed and finally the baby was born."
"But he didn't cry, and I knew he was not normal,
he was bitten and slapped alot of times, still nothing."
"She then said in tears, 'Cry James, cry.'
He began, he started crying.
What???, I was confused"
" 'Ma'am, I'm afraid your baby's eyes cannot be opened and his legs are weak, might not walk.' one of the nurses said to her."
" 'It's ok, I still love him.' she replied"
"I was so angry, I said, 'so his eyes is shut and he's also a cripple'.
'What!!!' I screamed.
" 'Are you crazy, what kind of baby is this, I'm out of here, bring him home yourself.' I told her and walked out."
"You see after that day I never wanted anything to do with him, I had always told him he was bad luck and bad news,
I had told him to just kill himself before he killed someone."
"But his mum, she loved this boy more than anything. She always gave him a form of hope, saying one day James you will walk and see."
"He had grown, he was almost six, I can remember. We went to the park, I saw that man, the tall red-haired man again.
He was looking at the little boy and smiling."
"I remember I ran to Mercy and told her that her boy was being watched by that weird man, but she just laughed and said, 'I love you Robert, but it's time.' "
"She kissed me her last and left. I was confused, I watched her leave."
"She went over to James and said,
'Get up James,
Hey James baby, I'm here. Just follow the sound you can do it.' "
"James stood up from his wheel chair and started walking towards his mother's voice."
"He got to her and hugged her, 'mum I'm walking.' I heard him shout."
"She bent down and whispered something to his ear.James opened his mouth to say something, then Mercy fell."
"I ran to her and pushed James away from her, he had killed my wife"
"So you see Diwne, that boy James is bad luck. I hate him" Robert says finally and tears flow down his eyes
James steps in the living room, he had heard everything, he knows now.
"I'm so sorry father, I'm sorry I caused you pain, I'll go I'll leave to find my fate in life." James tells his father and Mrs Diwne who are now shocked at his sudden presence.
He walks out, opens the door and leaves...
