Strike! Battle with the Mutated Bamboo Leaf Green

Without hesitation, setting the direction, Tom returned to the cardboard laboratory with Bo Zai, where he worked with Iron Slag Old Head. He was responsible for making final adjustments to Bo Zai's Old Street No.1 armor and then helped Bo Zai put it on for practical testing. Iron Slag, with stronger metal shaping abilities, was responsible for making an additional layer of thick armor based on the components of Old Street No.0, to be added to the vital parts of Old Street No.0.

After some effort, with the help of others, Bo Zai quickly put on Old Street No.1, and Tom took him outside for testing.

Old Street No.1 excelled in speed, so it wasn't as heavy as Old Street No.0, and its height was only 8.3 centimeters. The coverage of full-body armor was 50%, only to protect vital parts such as the chest, hands, shoulders, groin, lower legs, etc. The head, elbows, thighs, and waist used cockroach hard skins as secondary protection to ensure flexibility without hindering the wearer's movements.

Naturally, the back was equipped with the standard manually switchable dual crystal power backpack. Since the combat of Old Street No.1 was primarily speed-oriented, in addition to a stinger, a steel spear with a length of 6 centimeters was added, serving a similar function to a cavalry assault lance. Finally, Tom also added an electric iron fist to the right leg. Despite its small size, it had a noticeable paralyzing effect.

Bo Zai had studied Taekwondo for a while, and his leg skills were good, so the electric iron fist was installed on his leg for easy use in leg attacks.

In terms of amplification, since golden energy crystals were used as conductive conductors from the beginning, the strength was amplified by 3.5 times, and the burst power of the legs was amplified to 6.5 times, greatly magnifying Bo Zai's speed advantage. Coupled with Bo Zai's own mode switching taking only about 2 seconds, in the ever-changing battlefield, he could be said to be more flexible than Tom.

The theoretical design was good, but various problems arose when put into practice.

Either the groin armor wasn't flexible enough, causing Bo Zai to fall when accelerating, or there were problems with the chest. Then there were issues with the shoulder pads not being secured enough, falling off upon impact. Tom had to let Bo Zai repeatedly test, ensuring that the shoulder pads could move as much as possible without affecting arm movements while maximizing stability.

In addition to component issues, there were also problems with wear and tear on the golden conductive components during high-speed movement. Because gold itself was softer than iron, the issue wasn't as apparent on Old Street No.0, which had relatively slow movements. However, when switched to Old Street No.1, which required frequent high-speed running, the non-durability became apparent.

After running a few laps, connections began to break, resulting in the embarrassing situation of the speed boost effect stopping.

So Tom had to take the dismantled golden conductor back to Iron Slag Old Head and discuss improvements with him.

After tinkering all night, Iron Slag finally came up with a temporary solution.

The purity of gold directly determined the loss of conduction. In order to maintain the amplification effect, Iron Slag chose to combine the gold conductor with an iron conductor.

The part with the most severe conductor wear was the lower back waist, where the energy conductor component could be said to be equivalent to the human spine, connecting the important bridge between the brain and the lower body. And now, the conductor component to be improved was here.

Most of the conductors still used iron, but a gold conductor was embedded in the middle. This would increase the durability of the conductor, preventing it from breaking with just a few movements like pure gold conductors.

But the cost was that the speed boost was reduced from the original 6.5 times to around 6.

There wasn't much time left to re-improve the golden conductor. Last night, the people guarding the door found traces of the Bamboo Leaf Green. This green-colored big guy had roamed around the closed gate for a few laps. Perhaps the Realgar emitted from under the gate had an effect, as it quickly left.

Tom judged that this was just a test by the Bamboo Leaf Green Snake. When its appetite wasn't very strong, the annoying smell of Realgar could make it retreat. But once it urgently wanted to eat human flesh, the smell of Realgar couldn't stop it, and breaking through the iron blocking under the gate was only a matter of time.

The debugging work of Old Street No.1 resumed, with Bo Zai wearing the armor for continued testing. Switching between speed and strength, attacking while running, and attacking after running, Bo Zai was continuously adapting to this big guy, while Tom was making targeted adjustments to various aspects of the armor during Bo Zai's training.

On Iron Slag's side, most of the additional armor had been installed, but some improvements were needed on the fasteners. As a result, in the evening, the people guarding the windows sounded the alarm, as the Bamboo Leaf Green Snake returned.

Just as Tom had feared, this big guy had already set its sights on the live people inside the room. Ignoring the stimulating smell of Realgar, it began to directly hit the iron plate blocking under the door.

The strength of the mutated Bamboo Leaf Green Snake was still considerable. After a few collisions, the blocking plate was knocked open, and it began to squeeze in from under the door.

At this point, Tom had already put on Old Street No.0 and hurried over. Taking advantage of the fact that only half of its head had squeezed in, he swung his big knife down towards its head. Despite the ample toughness of the mutated snake skin and the hardness of the scales on its head, Tom's strike, amplified by six times, still had no effect. Seeing the snake's head squeezing in more and more, Tom had no choice but to continue chopping. However, at this moment, Old Street No.1, which had just taken off its armor and put it back on, rushed over at an extremely fast speed and the steel needle in its hand pierced fiercely into the snake's head.

The two had an unspoken understanding, both continuously attacking the same part of the snake's head. After a few strikes, Tom's large knife finally broke through the two scales on top of the snake's head, causing it to bleed profusely.

The Bamboo Leaf Green quickly recoiled and then turned to flee, leaving behind a mess.

Tom and Bo Zai finally breathed a sigh of relief. If that big guy had managed to get in, it would have been a big problem. With over a hundred people in the camp, just one swipe of its tail could cause countless casualties.

They brought two thicker iron plates and replaced them under the door gap, and then installed rough iron stakes. This would make it much harder for the next mutated Bamboo Leaf Green to break through. However, the cost was that besides Tom and Bo Zai, no one in the camp could lift these iron stakes.

Finally passing this ordeal, Tom and Bo Zai understood that this Bamboo Leaf Green had to be dealt with as soon as possible, or it would inevitably break in again sooner or later.

So they immediately took off their armors for the final adjustments. Tom decided they would set out tomorrow morning, keeping the battlefield outside the camp to avoid endangering it.

Given the current situation, it was unrealistic for anyone other than the two armored individuals to fight the mutated Bamboo Leaf Green. Considering the effectiveness of today's chopping, the firearms with less than fifty rounds of ammunition left and the reduced firepower of the guns were not very effective.

That night, Iron Slag Old Head and Tom worked overtime to make final adjustments to the two armors, while Bo Zai, as tomorrow's guerrilla, needed to maintain a high level of concentration, so he was sent to bed early.

Finally, by around 4 a.m., they were finally done. Tom found a corner to lie down and rest for a bit. By six in the morning, everyone was up, had breakfast, replaced their red crystals, and put on their armors, preparing to set out.

They had already discussed their tactics for this mission. Old Street No.0 was equipped with a heavier and thicker pig-killing knife, a steel spear, an electric iron fist, and a flamethrower. Old Street No.1 was equipped with a steel spear, iron cones, and two electric iron fists (one for the hand and one for the knee).

The gate opened, and the two armored figures walked out of the camp with steady steps, heading straight for the main courtyard on the first floor. The Skinny Guy followed from a distance to observe the situation, while ten armed individuals stationed even further away. Their job was twofold: if Tom and the others defeated the Bamboo Leaf Green, they would help clean up the battlefield and then notify the backup personnel in the camp to come and assist.

If they were defeated, they would need to risk their lives to rescue Tom and Bo Zai and escort them away.

With only Tom and Bo Zai's combat capabilities in the camp, without them, the camp's security would be at its lowest. So their survival was fundamental to whether everyone else could survive.

Arriving in the courtyard, Bo Zai hid on the side, while Tom, holding the iron spear with a wooden long handle, slowly approached with heavy steps. Old Street No.0 now had double-layered armor, almost doubling its weight, high defense, and minimal speed. So Tom's role this time was to act as a shield, attracting the attention of the mutated Bamboo Leaf Green with formidable defense, providing Old Street No.1, known for its speed, with the opportunity to attack.

At this moment, the mutated Bamboo Leaf Green Snake was sleeping under a tree. When Old Street No.0 approached within 10 meters of it, it finally reacted, coiling its body and raising its head, spitting out signals to observe Tom, who had recklessly intruded into its territory.

As Tom switched the enhancement of his legs to strength, although his walking speed became slower and more tiring, he had to use powerful strength to hold the spear firmly, preparing for the snake's imminent assault. Although 10 meters seemed far when converted to his perspective, it was just a blink of an eye for the enlarged snake.

The mutated snake didn't immediately take action. It wasn't until Tom approached within 6 meters that it began to move, swimming directly towards him.

"Here it comes!" Tom planted his feet firmly, lowered his center of gravity, and stared at the mutated snake swimming towards him with eyes under his face mask. As it pounced closer, he thrust the spear fiercely towards its body, but missed the head. At the critical moment, the mutated snake quickly lifted its head, avoiding the spear from penetrating its mouth.

With its tough snake skin, the spear had no effect, even with Tom using six times the strength amplification. So he immediately retracted the spear and thrust it out again. The mutated snake had already twisted and lunged from the left side.

The snake's slingshot speed was fast, and Tom's second thrust missed. Seeing the snake's head about to bite him, he quickly retracted the spear and raised his hand, the hard guard blocking the snake, preventing it from biting his head.

The snake bit hard on Tom's guard, its sharp teeth biting a piece of iron plate and firmly embedding in it. Tom raised his right fist, fiercely smashing down with the electric iron fist. Although the current traveled through the snake's body, there was no obvious effect, and its tongue still clung tightly to his arm.

Gritting his teeth, Tom continued to strike with his right fist. After a few blows, the mutated snake stopped biting and started shaking its body, circling around Tom.

"Here it comes!" Tom's heart sank as he retracted his hands, shrinking his body, waiting for the mutated snake's next deadly attack.

Wearing heavy iron armor, switching abilities to strength, and being slow in movement itself, coupled with wearing a face mask for safety, Tom could only wait for the mutated snake's next fatal attack.

Sure enough, after circling a few times, the mutated snake swung its head, and its long body rolled Tom up.

This was another powerful means of snake attack: rolling up prey with its body, using strong contraction force to strangle it to death. Tom had long protected his hands on both sides of his body to prevent this attack, so at this point, he was completely immobilized.
