A Glimpse of Luxury

The limousine entered a driveway till it stopped in front of a mansion. I stared in awe at the gigantic house that stood in front of me. I hadn't even realised that Alexander was already out of the car till the door on my side was opened.

He offered me his hand but I totally ignored it and got down from the car by myself, though the wedding dress on my body made it so tedious. I looked to my side and saw up to five men dressed in black suits. From their posture and demeanor I could tell they were bodyguards.

To my left side, I saw three ladies and a man with their heads bowed a little. Alexander came and stood beside me as I stood staring at the mansion in front of me.

"Well, are you going to go in or you'd keep gawking at my house? Perhaps, you'd prefer standing here." I turned to look at him, the smirk on his face annoying me to the core. I'd probably do anything to smack it off his face.

"Perhaps not!" I replied him with a harsh glare, gathered the wedding dress in my hands, it is beginning to be a thorn in my flesh. I can't wait to get it off my body. I started moving towards a door which I guess is the entrance door.

My heart fluttered as I crossed the threshold into the house, the door was actually wide open. I was enthralled by the sight in front of me. The exquisite crystal chandeliers cascading from the high ceilings, the opulent furnishings and the mesmerizing grandeur left me utterly speechless.

The marble floors gleamed beneath my feet while the sunlight poured through the grand windows, casting a radiant glow on every impeccable detail. The double staircase with intricate ironwork and the breathtaking arts ardoning the walls.

"Like what you see?" I turned to see Alexander standing some feets away from me with a roguish smile on his face.

"No, absolutely not." I retorted and his smile turned into a smirk.

"Well, your expression says otherwise. Anyways, c'mon, I need to show you your room." He started walking towards the stairs and I followed suit.

When we climbed to the top of the stairs, we passed a few rooms before standing in front of a door. He collected a key from a man I didn't even know was following us. He inserted it into the keyhole and the door clicked opened.

My breath caught in my throat when we entered the room. It was nothing I ever imagined. The room was so big and beautiful. From the queen-sized bed that was on the centre of the room to the walk in closet. There was also a vanity that was on the other side of the room and a door that probably leads to the bathroom. It looked really exquisite and luxurious.

"I can see you like the room. As my wife, it'd be better to enjoy the benefits while it lasts." I gave him a glare before plopping down on the bed. It is so soft and comfy, I can literally sleep on it all day.

"I would like some rest now, please can you leave," I retorted with a yawn.

"You can rest for an hour. We'd be having a little party with some friends and family. You can also get off that workload on your body. Someone will come and attend to you in a short while and don't come looking for me, I won't be available." With that he turned and left the room.

Arrogant douchebag!!

I laid down properly on the bed as I felt the exhaustion kicking in, not minding that I was still in the wedding dress Alexander referred to as a workload - at least I agree with him on that one.

Just as I was about drifting off to sleep, I heard a soft knock on the door. I muttered a low come in, which I doubt the person on the door heard but the door opened and a girl came in.

I sat up from the bed as I fixated my look on the girl. She was beautiful with her brown hair that matched her big doe-like eyes. She was dressed neatly in a maid uniform and her hair was packed up in a tight bun.

It's been a minute now and she hasn't said a word to me. She just stood with her head bowed a little. I haven't said a word to her either, I'm probably too tired to do that.

"Hi?" I said after another minute had passed and it looked like we'd stay like that for the whole day if I didn't say a word.

"What's your name?" I asked, flashing her a tired smile.

"C..Claire," she answered simply, her voice fluttering a bit. She still hasn't raised up her head to look at me.

"Look up, Claire and please stop fidgeting, I don't bite." She slowly looked up and I gave her a genuine smile when her eyes met mine.

"I'm your maid, ma'am. I'm here to know if there's anything you need." Her hand was tightly holding at her dress making me wonder if she was nervous or something.

"Ivory. You can call me Ivory and we can be friends. How does that sound?" Her eyes widened at my words and she vigorously shook her head at me.

She looks so cute, like a little kitten. I'm sure making her my friend. I can't just stay in this huge house with nobody to talk to.

"I'm sorry, that's against the rules, ma'am," she said, her brows furrowed with an expression that looked like worry.

"Well, there are new rules, dear Claire. I am your master's wife and you'll follow my orders too, right?" She nodded slowly. "You'll call me Ivory and you'll be my friend...uh-uh...no arguments, that's an order. Now, come and help me get away from this workload on my body." I flashed her a cheeky grin which she returned before taking slow steps towards me.

I sighed in relief as soon as the dress came off my body. I sprinted towards the door that led to the bathroom. I was yet again left in awe at the sight of the bathroom. It was beautifully lit with the brass bathtub, the shower cubicle, a full length mirror, two towels in roll. It just simply screams luxury. I bet Ava would go over the moon if she saw all these.

I slowly slipped myself into the warm water filled bathtub. I could feel my exhausted muscles relaxing. I could literally stay in here the whole day. I sighed a deep sigh of relief as my thoughts drifted to all the events that made me to be here.

I'm not gonna lie, this contract marriage has opened the door to the life I've always dreamed of.

I came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my chest to see Claire still standing on the same spot. I raised an eyebrow at her when she pointed at the bed, that was when I noticed the two simple dresses on the bed - one white and the other, black.

I picked up the white dress and examined it. It was beautiful but it's too revealing, I dropped it and picked up the black one. It was just a simple straight-cut, that would probably hug my body if I put it on. It has furs at the hem, the cape and the hands. It was simple yet beautiful and elegant.

"I'll go with this black one, it's....." I didn't get to finish my sentence when the door bursts open and a fully dressed Alexander stormed in. "Wow, that's one way to enter your wife's room. Have you ever heard of knocking?"

"It's over an hour already and you're not yet dressed," he said, totally ignoring my humorless remark.

"As you can see, I was about to dress up before you barged in here like a bull dog without control." I heard a loud gasp and I knew it came from Claire.

"Leave!" Alexander commanded Claire, but I pinned my eyes on her, giving her a 'don't leave look'. I don't want to be in this room alone with him.

"What part of leave don't you understand, Claire?!" He turned sharply to look at her and with that Claire bolted out of the room as if something was chasing her.

"You didn't have to talk to her that way," I reprimanded, throwing him a glare.

"How I talk to my employees is not and shouldn't be your business." He started taking slow steps towards me while I kept moving back till my back touched the wall.

There's no escape anymore.

He pressed his palms on the wall, caging me in. I inhaled his intoxicating scent not wanting to meet his eyes. He slowly leaned in, I could feel his musky breath in my ear.

"You defy me so much that I want to hurt you." With that he disappeared. The only evidence that showed he was here was just the sound of the closing door.
