New Beginnings

I yawned sleepily as I slowly opened my eyes but shut them tightly as the bright rays of sun burnt my eyes. I buried my head into the pillow and relaxed. This is the most blissful sleep I've had in a while.

I sat up from the bed and opened my eyes which has now adjusted to the light. I looked up to see Claire standing upright at the foot of the bed, her head wasn't bowed this time.

When did she get here? Basically I can't even remember how I got to my room and on my bed. All I can remember is, after my encounter with Alexander, I gathered myself and left the passageway to meet Ivory who was fuming - thanks to Clark.

She handed me her drink which I didn't know contained alcohol. I gulped the whole content down because I really needed something to calm my insides down. After the drink, I don't even know what happened afterwards.

"Good morning, ma'am," Claire greeted and I gave her a small glare. "Ivory," she quickly corrected herself and I gave her a smile which quickly turned into a frown when I felt a pang of headache that made me wince.

Claire immediately rushed to my side and lightly held my shoulder.

"Are you alright ma....Ivory?" I nodded at her and sighed lowly. "I'll get you something that'll help with the hangover," she said and rushed out of the room.

I held my head in between my hands as another wave of headache hit me. I've never been good with alcohol, the last time I had it was during my graduation and I can remember I slept for a whole day because of it. When I woke up, I felt so horrible that I fell sick afterwards.

Claire came back into the room with a saucer and a mug in her hands. She walked towards me and handed it to me. I reluctantly took it from her. I sniffed the brownish coloured liquid and I scrunched up my nose at the smell.

"How can I drink this?" I asked sulking my face at Claire.

"You have to, it'll make you feel a lot better, trust me." She urged me to drink it and I begrudgingly brought the mug to my lips and downed the contents. At least, it tasted better than it smelled.

Claire took the mug and the saucer from me and dropped it on the bedside table. My stomach grumbled, I looked up at Claire who gave me a knowing look. I just realised I haven't had any proper food since yesterday.

"I've run your bath for you. You just have to freshen up and come downstairs for breakfast," Claire said and removed the duvet cover that was on my body. I got up from the bed and made my way to the bathroom.

I stood in front of the full-length mirror as I stared at my reflection in it. I had finished my bath and clothed myself in a blue denim shorts and a yellow crop top that I found in the closet. The closet was filled with different clothes for different occasions and also shoes and bags and other wears that a lady would need.

I wonder when he had done all this and as a matter of fact with my correct size. That still doesn't mean I wouldn't bring my own belongings. I need them, I don't need to wear this ones he bought. My clothes, my comfort.

I grinned at my reflection on the mirror before walking to the vanity, I picked up a hair brush which I used to brush my hair and tied it up into a loosed bun. I slipped my legs into a white pair of white shoes and without another glance at myself, I left my room.

I got downstairs and walked to the dining room but halted on my steps when I saw the amount of food on the table. I hadn't noticed the man that was standing beside a chair till he bowed. I nodded at him and sat down on a chair.

My stomach grumbled and my mouth watered at the sight of the mouth watering dishes in front of me. I swiftly dug into the first food my hand could touch, which was a plate of bacon eggs and potato chips.

I ate hungrily that I didn't notice how awkwardly the man standing was looking at me. When I had eaten to my satisfaction and gulped down a large amount of Apple fruit juice, I sighed in satisfaction and touched my stomach.

I looked at the man standing and gasped inaudibly.

Where the hell did my manners go to? I didn't even tell him to come and join me. Now, he'll probably think I'm a selfish or a mannerless person, considering the look he was giving me earlier.

"I'm sorry...I didn't invite you to eat with me. I was just so hungry that I didn't notice you," I said apologetically and the man let out a nervous laugh shaking his head.

"No, it's fine, I didn't even mind. My job is to stand while you eat in case of any necessities. I'd have bluntly refused if you had asked me to join you to eat as it is against our work etiques." He smiled and I nodded at him.

"Can I know your name?" I asked.

"It's John and I'm the butler," he answered.

"I'm Ivory," I said, stretching my hand towards him which he reluctantly took. I grasped his hand and shook it. "Nice to meet you John." He flashed me a nervous smile while instinctively looking around. He looked quite older, I think he should be around his early forties or there about.

"Is Alexander home?" I asked as I haven't seen him since I woke up and it doesn't seem he's anywhere around the house.

"No, he left quite early this morning. He might be back late in the night or not." I smiled mischievously at his words.

Good riddance! At least, I would spare myself from his arrogant presence today.

While he's away, why don't I make the most out of it. Annoying him a little wouldn't be that bad, would it?
