IVORY
I immediately entered my room and slammed the door shut. Loudly. I gently leaned against the door and slid down to the floor. My heart is thumping loudly against my chest. My cheeks are as red as tomatoes, and my whole body is all jittery, I'm afraid I could melt. When it comes to Alexander, my body always have a way of betraying me and leaving me at his mercy.
This stupid, crazy, snitch body of mine. And he tattooed my name on his chest? What does that imply? Who in their right mind would tattoo a person's name on their skin when they're not even close to being friends?
He's confusing me. One time he turns warm, and makes me think that maybe he sees this marriage as more than just a contract. Then, there are times he turns cold, and makes me want to drop this whole thing and go move on with my life. I don't even understand him, and it's annoying the hell out of me.
A loud bitter laugh erupted from my lips. I probably look like a maniac. I sound pathetic. I am pathetic. Getting involved with a devil...no....a mafia is probably taking a toll on me. Maybe I want something more with him or maybe not. I want him, no, let me rephrase that. My body wants him, but...
I ruffled my hair in frustration before letting out a deep somber sigh. I leaned away from the door and stood up before strutting to the bathroom. I had a quick bath, and then wrapped myself with my soft pink towel before walking back into my room.
I looked at the red wine dress that laid on the bed. I had brought it out from the closet when I wanted to meet Alexander in his room. I had wanted to talk to him about letting me get a job. That was going to be my one thousandth attempt at trying to convince him to let me get a job. Obviously, I didn't get to talk to him about it because I was carried away by something else. I'll have to talk to him about it later, and if he refuses again, then I'm afraid I'd go against him and get myself a job.
I picked up the dress from the bed and gave it a long awkward stare. It was a dress Alexander got me two weeks ago, I didn't even know why he got me this dress. Claire just brought it to me saying that it was from Alexander.
I fiddled with the soft fabric a little before taking off my towel and I slid the dress on.
It was a long dress that was slit by the side, displaying my left lap. The dress had an off shoulder that had my back exposed., and then, long and tiny shimmery straps that fell to the sides. This is perfect for a proposed dinner party.
I hurriedly approached my vanity after John had knocked on the door, and informed me that Alexander was waiting for me downstairs. I quickly sat down and briefly glanced at my reflection on the mirror before looking down at the make-up kits in front of me. Usually, Claire would've helped with my hair and make-up, but sadly she isn't here, so I have to do it myself.
I brushed my hair and packed it up in a slightly loosed bun, leaving a little part of my golden strands to fall over my face. I hurriedly put on a little foundation, an eyeliner and mascara to accentuate my eyes, and then a lip liner. I added a lip gloss to finish it up before standing up. I picked up the pair of silver stilettos that lay carelessly on the floor, I put them on before grabbing the silver clutch that was on my bedside table. With a little sigh, I stared at myself in the mirror, satisfied with my look , I exited my room.
Alexander was leaning against a blue coloured Bugatti when I stepped outside the house. He seemed to have not noticed me because he was so engrossed in a call, and he was turned away from me. I took the opportunity to feed my eyes. He was dressed in a two piece black suit, with his finely polished black shoes. His hair was gelled back, making his face more prominent, and he had black shades on. He looked magnificent and ravishing, I couldn't help but admire him. He looked like he just walked out of the world of my dreams.
Just as I took a step down the patio he turned and paused. He stared at me for a couple of minutes before pulling the phone away from his ear. He took slow steps towards me, removing his glasses as he sauntered to me.
"You're looking beautiful, Angel." He gave me a peck on my lips. "I really know what would suit my wife, don't I?" I rolled my eyes at him and he let out a chuckle. "C'mon, let's go." He pulled me towards the car and opened the passenger's seat for me.
"What's with the princess treatment tonight, Alex?" I asked, a little bit surprised that he literally opened the door for me. He has never done than before. "Is this some show for your grandfather? Maybe, you know someone is secretly watching us?" He took a deep sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"I've always given you princess treatment, you just don't notice it. Now, get into the car, Angel." I folded my arms over my chest and raised my eyebrows at him. "Pleeease," he slowly gritted out and a triumphant smile appeared on my face. I quickly entered the car, and Alexander shut the door before going around the car. He entered the drivers seat and gave me a look as though he wanted to read me.
"Nice car." He scoffed at my words, ignited the engine and drove off. I looked around the car, taking in its intricate design. The car was cozy and beautiful. It's actually my first time being inside a Bugatti, thanks to Alexander. Being married to a billionaire has it's perks and all, but at least I get to have a little taste of luxury.
"How are you feeling, baby?" I turned to look at Alexander whose gaze was focused on the road ahead.
I nodded my head, and swallowed a lump that has formed in my throat. "I'm feeling good, thanks. I'm surprised there are no bodyguards following us this time," I uttered and a smirk appeared on his handsome face.
"Look behind you." I followed his instruction and turned to look at the back of the car. There was a black SUV following us. I groaned out and relaxed on the seat, looking out the window.
"Disappointed?" He turned to look at me briefly before turning his gaze back to the road. "I still don't understand why you don't like having body guards around you."
I simply shrugged and rubbed my neck, not knowing what to tell him. It was weird and awkward, he was speaking to me normally as if we've been pals for months.
"What type of dinner party are we going to anyway?"
"You'd find out soon." A devilish smile appeared on his face, making me squint my eyes at him. I hope this isn't going to be one of those times he'd want to use me for his own gain. "No darling, it's not what you think," he said lowly, just as if he heard my thoughts. "Are you missing out on something today, Angel?"
I gave him a puzzled stare and quickly shook my head 'no' at him. What could I be missing out on? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Alexander nodded and increased his speed.
In a short while, we arrived at a hotel. Alexander parked his car at the parking lot and quickly got down, coming to my side. I raised a brow at him when he opened the door for me. This man can't be serious. I got out of the car still giving him a weird look. Alexander grabbed my hand and started walking towards the entrance of the hotel. He threw his car keys to one of the bodyguards who appeared out of nowhere.
I entered the hotel, with Alexander pulling me along as though he knew exactly where to go. He didn't even bother checking in at the desk. We continued walking until we got to a door, two golden double doors actually. Alexander opened the door and walked in pulling me with him.
I gripped his hand tightly when I was suddenly surrounded by darkness. There was no atom of light in this place, it was just complete darkness. I tightened my hand around Alexander's arm while stiffly looking around in the darkness.
"Maybe we got into the wrong room. I'll see if I can find the switch." I grabbed his arm tightly, showing my disapproval in my action. He's not stepping a foot away from me in this darkness.
"Just switch on the flashlight on your phone. I would've switched mine on but I don't have my phone with me." I was still looking around the place in fright. I'm facing one of my phobias, and I don't like it one bit.
"Fine, I'd do that for you, Angel," he said, and a sigh of relief escaped my lips, but that was short-lived because the lights suddenly turned on, and a loud shriek left my throat. My shout was suddenly overpowered by loud voices.
"SURPRISE!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!"
