I woke to the sound of gulls and crashing waves. I opened my eyes to see a cloudless sky and the midday sun shielded by the leaves of a palm tree. Turning my head I saw a golden retriever running towards me. I sat up and looked around. A long white beach disappeared into a haze of heat. The dog trotted up to me, panting, friendly eyes expecting pets. I ran my hands down its golden brown back, somehow slightly cold. Standing, I walked towards the ocean trying to remember how I got here. "A shipwreck, no a plane crash." So many gaps in my memory, I don't know what is true or not. I clutched my forehead suddenly as a painful headache pierced through my brain.. The dog whimpered, looking up at me. Suddenly the headache passed as if it had never been there. As I looked down at the beach, a flash of something caught my eye. I looked and saw an object about half a mile down the beach. As I walked down the beach the dog trotted alongside me following me wherever I went. The object was the nose of a plane half buried in sand and seaweed. So it must have been a plane crash.
Just as I began to think, "What now?" a rumble of thunder echoed through the bay looking towards the ocean. I saw a bank of clouds building up with speed that almost…. didn't look natural. Thinking to myself that does not look fun I ran to the closest shelter in sight, a cave. The dog was close at my heels.

Subject 27b4 has been reacting and adapting to the storm surprisingly well compared to other subjects. While he got top marks in testing, the true test is in the field where many have got top marks in their class and then fallen, panicked or simply had given up. The true test is yet to come.

The storm was only getting worse. Outside the cave, sheets of rain poured down, a billion drops attacking, diving into the ground. The dog barked, breaking me out of my trance. Looking at it thoughtfully "you need a name don't you?" I said to myself, "How about, Scout?"... The dog looked at me blankly, its friendly eyes trusting. Suddenly a flash of lightning illuminated the cave revealing an old shelter and a raggedy backpack. "That wasn't here when I ran in here" I said to myself, "Or was it?" I walked over and picked up the pack and moved over so I could see better. Inside I found a flashlight and a machete. I tried the flashlight and found that it worked, so I thought it would be a great idea to explore the cave since the storm was not getting any calmer. I slung the pack over my shoulder, grabbed a walking stick that was leaning on the cave wall and set off into the darkness. Suddenly I heard a whimper and looked back. Scout was sitting by the broken shelter and whimpering, not willing to go further.
"What is it boy?" I asked "Is something down there?" Just then a deep rumble came from the depths of the cave and a musty wind blew past me and outside the cave. "Well" I said to myself "Glad I didn't go in there."

Subject 27b4 has found the starter supplies inserted in the cave and has begun exploring the island. text makers have already planted a Boeing 757 in the eastern region of the island. Food supplies and cover bodies have been planted in the plane and around the island. Subjects 27b5 and 27a6 are on standby for surgery and implantation with their chosen animals.

As the storm drew back I exited the cave and saw that the rain had brought new life to the island. Birds sang in the trees, frogs croaked in the mud, and hawks flew above. "Not yet" I said to them as I looked up at the sky. I thought I saw a wavy pattern cross above me but just brushed it off as the heat of the sun which was now almost straight above me. As I walked by the nose of the plane and over to a ridge the full sight of the crash came in to view the plane lay in a swamp like landscape and the front end was completely gone, probably fell off in the ocean or is somewhere in the jungle. A body lay on top of the aircraft. I scaled down the side of the ridge. It was steep but nothing I couldn't handle and with the vines growing on it it was more than easy. Scout stayed on the top of the ridge patiently waiting. As my feet hit the bottom floor of the valley that sunk a little into the soft muddy ground, I turned to look at the plane and climbed inside. the stench of rotting flesh infected my nose. I gagged and pulled my shirt up and looked around as I walked down the center of the plane. I looked for anything that could be useful to me. A water bottle, a lighter and some dried beef strips went into my pack. As I reached the back of the plane I stopped and saw a body about my size. With boots I had a tough time walking around in bare feet and the last thing I needed was to get stung by something. I grabbed the boots off the body and started putting them on. They…. They fit perfectly.
Anyway when I was done looting the plane I climbed back up the narrow ridge and helped scout down. This dog must have been well trained because it didn't squirm or panic. I decided to try to make a fire before it gets dark. So I spent the next half hour gathering sticks and coconut husks. Starting it was easy enough with the lighter and I used a piece of the plane so the damp grout would not put it out. As I sat in front of the cracking fire and enjoying some of the water and beef strips I decided to start on my shelter and help sign in hopes that a passing plane might see it, the future was looking bright.

Subject 27b4 has found the plane and has set up a BOO (base of operations) in the plane and has begin clearing out the bodies and disposing of them

The sun was setting as i looked up from my work wiping the sweat from my forehead setting down the Pulaski i walked over to scout who was sleeping on some plane seats next to the dying fire i tossed on a few more logs and walked over to the main body of the plane it had taken a few hours but I had some what gutted the plane and put the bodies on the far side of the swamp and made a makeshift bed with the plane seat cushions and the blow up raft. I had also taken inventory of the plane's drink and food and locked them in the back of the plane so no animals could get at them. I had also found a survival bag in the very back of the plane, i unlocked it with a key i got off one of the dead bodies inside i found a knife a flare gun, some flairs, a tarp some iodine, duct tape and some extra water as i walked to the entrance to the plane i pushed the tarp out of the way and walked inside and down the length of the plane and refilled my water bottle it had been a long day and as i sat down next to scout i breathed out i needed to find out how i was going to get food water was fine for now but the beef strips would not last forever. I grabbed the walking stick and started carving out an L shape at the tip when I was finished I set the knife handle in the carving so it was supported by the shaft of the stick and raped the duct tape around till it was solid and set. I smiled to myself not only would this work as a great hunting weapon but also I can defend myself with it.

Note subject 27b4 has passed the first test with high marks test 1 subject 27b4 successfully fended off a pack of wolves while protecting his companion however the 2 test, heatwave subject 27b4 made a compartment in the muddy swamp and survived for 12 hours before succumbing to the heat extraction crews pulled out subject 27b4 body and companion witch was still breathing and will make a full recovery the testing area has been rest and prepped for subject 28b1
Note: this was disappointing subject 27b4 had such promise

Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? Ok ok so they said I have to do this if the test is successful so here I am sitting on my bed waiting for them to call me and just speaking my thoughts. They started my training 3 years ago and today after drills they called me into their office and said I'm ready for it. This is a huge honor everyone is congratulating me. they had me choose an animal and i choose a dog from [redacted] so I got like 2 hours before my surgery and implantation hopefully I can make humanity proud I'm the first on they are doing this on so hopefully [redacted] anyway one great step for mankind or whatever he said

The rain bounced off the window of the small shop as the unknown figure opened the door and stepped inside, the young girl behind the counter looked up and smiled "hello Ms. Cramer, how was work?"
"How many times have I told you to call me Julie?" said the woman "ok ok" the girl said "how was your day. Julie? "It was great, I think we may have a lead on this one" "you still can't tell me what you're doing in that building? Julie smiled "No Ashley, I can't so stop askin" "well I'm just curious said Ashley moving over to the coffee machine. "the usual?" "yes please" said Julie, taking off her coat sitting down next at a table next to the warm fire. The coffee shop was nearly empty for the day, just a few college students in the lounge finishing off last-minute papers and a high schooler dozing on the couch. " So you never told me how you did on your test? Julie called out" "uhhhh" Ashley growled "I got a B" "that's good" Julie exclaimed "yeah but i was like five points away from a B+" "Ashley for as long as I've known you you've been an overachiever you gotta quit stressing about small things" "yeah i know" she said setting down the coffee. "A coffee with 2 creams and one sugar is that all?" "yep" said Julie reaching for her purse "oh no you don't have to pay" "oh Ashley you don't have to do that" "yes i do that study guide saved me from the exam, so I'm paying for ya".
"That's really sweet ash" "hey look the rain is stopping" said Ashley walking over to the window. The view from the cafe was beautiful located on a mountain pass made for some beautiful views especially after a heavy rain. Mist and rainbows were prominent along the cliff face. "I always love the view after the rain," said Ashley. Just then the bell dinged and Ashley went off to help a customer, Julie picked up her jacket and coffee and waved to Ashley. And exited the shop and walked over to her car now that her break was over she had to get back to work as she drove through the pass. She looked to her left and the road curved slightly on an angle and a building loomed, partly hidden by the mist. It was only the size of a small stadium but Julie knew that much like an iceberg it was much bigger underneath. As she came to the first of many checkpoints she handed the man in the booth her ID which he scanned and handed back. They had done this so many times but the man never smiled and never spoke a word. As she drove into the underground parking lot the dim light flickered. And water dripped from the ceiling she parked in her spot and grabbed a bag out of the passenger seat and started walking over to the elevators. The sound of the wind howling through the empty parking lot was almost chilling. As Julie got in the elevator it lurched and automatically started going down. Julie pushed the red button to the side which read, training room. The doors opened and she stepped out onto a cold tile floor. She walked down a dim hallway and turned into a carpeted room with a large window on one side. There were already a handful of people there. Julie shut the door and pulled a pen and notepad out of her bag. "This one looks promising" said one "maybe" said three "hey Cramer how was your lunch break?" exclaimed two "fine" Julie said walking up to the window. The window led into a large room which could only be described as a large gymnasium with a fuzzy green floor. Inside several. Trainers is protective armor wielding dummy spears sparing with young children in bodysuits "that one there" said one pointing to a young girl leaning against a wall "she is very skilled but gets winded easily" julie scribbled on her note pad and nodded "i'll make sure Dr. smith gets a note we can get her into surgery. Just then a low tone rag through the room "well that's us" said three and two "you guys going to mikes later" asked one no sorry we gotta say late tonight "shoot ok" said one "see you tomorrow then" as two and three left the room julie pointed to a young boy "that one over there is remarkable. He has gone head to head with our most skilled trainer and has improved a lot over the past 3 years. I think he might be ready ""maybe" said one julie walked over and picked up her pack "i'm going to my office could you call him down?" "Yeah sure" said one, taking a sip from his coffee. As Julie walked down the long dim hallway she heard the dissent rumble of thunder and knew it was going to be a dreary day. As she walked in to her office she saw some papers on her desk julie rolled her eyes and put the papers in a folder she would do them "later" just as he sat down the young boy came in to her office still sweating from training "they said you need to talk to me" he said looking nervous "oh yes'' julie said "have a seat" the boy sat "don't worry you aren't in trouble" julie smiled the boys face relaxed. "We have seen you in training and we are impressed. We think you might be ready," the boy froze. "Are you serious?!" "yes but we need to ask you a question before you are ready" said julie pulling out a paper from her desk "chose a companion" the boy was silent for what seemed like an eternity "i like dogs'' the said "ok dog" julie said as she scribbled something down on the paper. "Ok the surgery will be in a few hours so you gotta get some rest" the boy stood and shook hands with julie "this is a great honor thank you" doing this the boy smiled and nodded. He walked over to the door and was about to leave. "Oh 274" the boy looked back "don't forget to log it" said julie "yes mam" said the boy as the door creaked shut julie got out a tape recorder and recorded the following.

As the 274 walked down the hallway he pumped his fist and yelled silently the guard walking behind him chuckled quietly they exited the building and walked across a small quartyard the dark sky reminding them the a storm was brewing as they drew closer to the dorm it opened and a young girl came out "well?!" she asked "they want me for the test" 274 said smiling the girl jumped up and gave him a hug so tight that he thought his ribs would break. As they parted the guard said "ok 276 get off to the women's dorms" the girl rolled her eyes, waved to the boy and ran off "lights out in 5 hours" said the guard to the boy who nodded and opened the door to his room. His roommates looked up from the chess game that they were playing and quickly looked back. "Congratulations" one of them mumbled "yeah yeah"
274 walked into his room and closed the door as hh walked over to his bed he could hear it start to rain and he shuddered to think of those who had to do drills in the cold chilling stuff. 274 pulled out a camera from the night stand.and attached it to a small arm on the wall "ms. Cramer said I have to log it so might as well do it now" he thought. He flicked a switch. And recorded the following video.

I don't know how many animals they had on standby but i think that they were a little disappointed i just chose a dog.
so I got like 5? 8? Hours before my surgery and implantation hopefully I can make humanity proud. I'm the first one they are doing this on so hopefully my trainer and friends will be proud of me and I can finally get out of this place. I want to see the world and I'm tired of this day after day. Hopefully if i win or pass whatever test they give me i can leave anyway one large step for mankind or whatever he said

Julie julie set down her now full notebook and picked up the tape recorder and put them both in their bottom desk drawer which was already full of note books in varying stages of completion she locked the drawer. Standing Julie grabbed her bag and car keys and started off to the parking lot above her. The rain pounded down on the skylight showing no mercy to the glass. The parking lot was wet and windy even though it was shielded by the rain. The gray sky let Julie know that the rain would not stop anytime soon. Julie breathed in. She always loves the smell of rain. When she was a kid she As Julie was driving home she couldn't help but feel sorry for the kid knowing what was to come.
274 woke up with a start he was drenched in sweat. He looked at the clock he still had 2 hours before the surgery. That told him that they had to remove a tracker so the test could be more real or somethin but he called bull. He knew they knew something they weren't telling him but what could he say they held his fate in his hands. As he stood up he stretched. And stepped out of his room and made his way down the hallway and into the showers. 274 peeled his shirt off and stepped into the cold water. He shivered as the cold water hit his neck. Hot water was not an option. 274 contemplated the operation he was going to go through. He stepped out of the shower and dried off. He changed into new clothes and made his way to the roof. No one was really supposed to but 276 found it unlocked and they met there almost everyday. And he pushed the food open and he saw 276 sitting on the roof "do you think that's the real sky?" she asked "why wouldn't it be?" 274 said "I don't know but it seems that everything it fake or a test nowadays, so what do you think the test they're going to drop you into" the girl questioned "I'm not sure I think it has to do with brain waves or something" said 274 "but rick what if it dangerous or what if you die?" wined 276 "what if you turn out like chris" "amy you know you know we are not supposed to use our real names they might send you to the hold" amy shivered and wrapped her arms around rick "what if you die what will i do?"
Julie lived in a quiet neighborhood one might even call it sleepy, the housing was built for the company that Julie worked for but no one ever really moved in. So it was opened to the public and was quickly filled with solos and old couples. Julie pulled into her driveway the rain pounding on her windows and running down the windshield as she got out and grabbed her pack and the rain dove onto head and down her neck. She ran to her side door and fumbled with the keys for a second. Before unlocking it and stepping inside. The house was dark and quiet. Julie took off her jacket and put it away and tossed her keys and bag on the counter. She walked over to the fridge, grabbed a beer and plopped down on the couch. She sighed with relief and took a long swig. The storm outside raged and screamed and all the while Julie slept on and off and watched TV. early in the morning she got a call from her work. "Is this line secure" said an unknown voice at the other end "only on fridays" said julie ones voice came over the phone "Hey the storm has damaged the testing area so we might need to put 274 through the pretest a little earlier than expected" "an early launch again" groned julie "corp really needs to build a better storm wall, i'll be there in 30" julie said then hung up julie got up and changed into some fresh clothes.
As Julie ran into the building one met her at the entrance "we are wheeling him into operation we've got the dog ready as well" said one running to keep up with julie "ok let's get to the testing room" said julie not breaking her stride.
They entered a large circle room with rows of seats at different levels with controls on the first set and in the center was a large shallow bowl with a replica of the island. With holograms showing all living creatures that were constantly updating to real time. Two three were already there. Setting up and getting ready julie walked over to her spot set down her pack and notebook and took a seat
"You ready kid" asked the doctor 274 nodded and he was wheeled into the operation room. "In a little bit i'm going to put you to sleep to start the operation". Said one of the masked people in the room as a nurse inserted an IV into his arm. 274 winced and gritted his teeth. Then relaxed. The doctor asked the nurse to start the drip and one of the assistants handed him the mask "i'm going to need you to count down from 10 for me" he asked "10..9…8….7…..6…..5….4...…3.....2.." the world went dark
Ashley cloze up the coffee shop and started walking home "that's the third time this week the boss has asked me to close" she thought as she walked through the rain had changed to a light drizzle but that didn't fool her she knew that storms would all of a sudden turn calm after raging for days and suddenly strike again. She realized that this was her chance to get home without being soaked. She knew that the storm would quickly be raging again and she needed to get home quickly all though the sky was gray. The tall pine trees just off the road were beautiful and as they disappeared into the mist it looked like they went on forever.
As Ashley stepped inside she heard her older brother snoring on the couch and her cat meowing from the counter. Her patients had gone on vacation and left her in charge. She walked over and hung up her coat and picked up the cat who immediately began purring and rubbing its head against ashleys neck. She walked into her room and set down her backpack and plopped down on her desk, setting the cat next to her. Ashley's room and small but cozy drawings and movie posters lined the walls and books and empty cany rapers sat on the shelfs. Her bed was a mountain of blankets and pillows, her desk was covered with papers, sketch books and half finished drawings. The window which was at the foot of her bed and a little to the right was cracked open and the smell of rain seeped through. Blowing the curtains and making wavy patterns. The cat meowed and stretched out on her desk knocking over pens and a thankfully empty water bottle. Ashley scratched the cat's belly who vibrated and let out a noise of contentment. Ashley cleared some papers off her desk and pulled one of her many half filled sketchbooks toward her.
Her brother sturred down stairs and she could hear him climbing the stairs and going in to his room she leaned back in to her chair to get a better view of what she was drawing when suddenly and large guttural vibration ran through the house she could feel it in her bones the cat hissed and jumped off her desk and dove into her bed ashley fell out of her chair. She looked around trying to figure out what was going on. She saikaley got to ehr feet and walked to the window. Rain and mist nothing seemed to change. Ashley walked down the hall and opened the door. "Yoo don't you know how to knock" he asked "shut up, did you feel that?" Ashley said, "feel what?" "that giant vibration that just ran through the house" Ashley exclaimed "ash i think i would know if there was an earthquake" "no but it wasn't like an earthquake" ashley wined "your just tired ash go to bed you've been working all day." As Ashley walked back to her room the cat met her there meowing trying to claw her way up Ashley's leg "ow hey your ripping my pants stop it" she picked up the cat and booped her nose. The cat's eyes dilated and she tried to lick her finger Ashley giggled and set down the cat on her bed and closed her door. She got changed and stepped into her bed. She was asleep before she hit the pillow.
Ashly woke in the middle of the night and saw a dim blue light coming from her window. She got up confused and walked to the window she saw an empty truck with cold blue lights. Sitting on a grassy hill At the other side of the street in the empty lot it looked like two men searching the woods around the lot. Just then the sound of a trash can being knocked over Ashley looked down and saw a naked girl sitting shivering behind the garbage bins. Ashley and the girl made eye contact and the girl's eyes widened, Ashley put her finger to her lips and the girl's face relaxed.
Ashley quickly ran down stairs and into the garage. And opened the side door and waved for the girl to come over the girl ran slightly limping ashley brought the girl into the house and in the bathroom where she looked at her foot "you gotta help me there going to kill me they killed my friend" the girl said crying "its ok they didn't see you come in here did that?" asked ashley "no" said the girl "ok well I don't know who you are and what you are doing here but you can stay here till we figure everything out" said ashley "oh thank you so much said the girl i'll tell you everything" exclaimed the girl "shhh my brother is sleeping upstairs" hissed ashley "ops sorry" said the girl "its ok but let's take a look at that leg of yours" "oh that was me i had to take out the tracker" said the girl casually ashleys eye widened "wasn't that painful?" "yeah said the girl "but it was the only way" "damn" said ashley under her breath "what kinda stuff is this girl involved in"
After treating the girl's foot and helping her up the stairs. Ashley gave the girl a change of clothes (witch did not fit) and put her in a rooney closet and it was a good thing to because just after, ashley heard a knock at the dook as ashley opened the door a tall gruff man stood on the other side his face hidden by a baseball cap. He looked down surprised at the young girl in front of him "your parents home?" he asked "no their on vacation" ashley said coldly "my older brother is sleeping"
"There was a dangerous person that escaped the hospital. Have you seen anything?" he asked "no" said ashley innocently "i saw someone in the woods earlier today tho if that helps" "thank you" said the man "that helps a lot have a great rest of your night" "no prob" said ashley smiling after he left ashley went back upstairs and opened the closet "are they gone" asked the girl in between a pile of stuffed animals. "Yes" said Ashley "but now you gotta tell me what the hell is going on with you" "yes of course" said the girl "but I'm kinda hungry. " Can I have something to eat first?" "oh i'm sorry I should have thought of that come on" ashley led the girl down stairs "by the way you never told me your name" ashley said "oh it's amy"
As Julie julie stared in disbelief at the screen the dead body of 274 laid motionless in the mud the entire room was silent. There was such promise and he had failed just like the 27 generations before him now the only thing that they could do is try again. Julie gritted her teeth and yelled for a phone "how long do we have to wait for another test" julie practically yelled in to the phone "at least another year" said the voice on the other end" "damn it" she said under her breath "get 275, 276 and 277 ready for pre training" "there is one thing" said the voice "what!?' asked julie "276 escaped on a transport to test site frozen waste. When she learned of 274's death" we are searching the area and locals have been warned that there was a mental person on the loose" "very well" said Julie "get 275 prepared for his pretraining and escort to test site hot jungle. Also I am requesting heavy transport for 277 this is a very special case we are working with. I want light pretraining and a full reset with background and deep cover story and transported to site deep woods" said julie "but wont that permanently wipe her memory" asked the voice "yes but that is a chance we are willing to take" said julie "now get it done" as julie hung up she called for a messenger "tell the 2th guards to increase searching go door to door if you have to" "yes mam" he said and ran of.
"Wow" Ashley said "i just need a minute to process all of this" "I know it's crazy" said Amy "but it's the truth" "so you don't know where you came from or what your training for?" Just then her brother knocked on her door Ashley pointed to the closet and Amy, understanding the message, jumped in and shut the door. Thinking quickly he flopped back onto his back and closed his eyes and light flooded into the container the smell of moss and the sound of a flowing river "lets just dump them here" said a voice turn in early for the night" 274 felt himself being raised on an angle and sliding off onto damp ground and then in to mud. He heard the revving of an engine and then silence rick sat up and looked around. He was by an overpass on the baby of a river, he looked up to the road. Which seemed to me not highly traveled. He turned his attention to his knee which was bleeding. Rick took what was left of his shirt and bandaged up his knee. And grabbed a nearby branch and tried to stand and found that he could limp up to the road. A long curved blacktop disappeared into a misty damp forest. 274 squinted down the road and as he heard voices. Sounded like 2 people having a conversation "HELP" yelled 274 the voices suddenly stopped two figures suddenly manifested out of the mist and 274"s eyes widened amy?
