"I want you to be completely honest with me," the mother of my future children said. She held her head high and chin up as if to show me that she was not afraid of me.

A playful grin tugged at the corners of my lips as I replied, my voice filled with warmth and sincerity, "I will always be honest with you, Amore."

Ellie Blackwood's expression twisted into a scowl, her distaste for endearments evident. But I couldn't resist teasing her, knowing that she wouldn't back down so easily.

"Stop it with the nicknames," she barked.

It was clear that she wouldn't tolerate any form of affectionate language from me, but I found it all the more entertaining to push her buttons.

My arms lifted in mock surrender as I offered her an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry," I said, meeting her intense gaze. "But I can't seem to help myself."
