EARLY MORNING
TIME (Around 4am)
The three bottles weren't enough and when they had nothing else to talk about, they ordered five more and silently enjoyed themselves while lost in their thoughts.
At the moment, the scene was something else. The two didn't look drunk after all the liquors they took in and on the table occupied the empty bottles. Begging to be put into the trashcan but none of them could hear.
They sat quietly, the masks fixed perfectly, each lost in their own thoughts when they suddenly sensed a change.
They turned to the direction of the bed, and sure enough, Zil was awake. On a sitting position on the bed.
The blanket, now covering the lower part of his body.
Den was about to ask if he was okay when the kid broke down.
Tears streaming down, a devastated Zil held onto his chest, head lowered down as he let out all the emotions he felt deep inside.
The sight devastated Den, and without a word, he made his way to the bed. Took a seat on the edge, facing the kid, before letting out the words,
"Is good for a man to cry once in a while, but not every time,........ judging by the situation, I'll let you cry, but I don't want to see you tearing up again" trapping his own emotions from bursting out.
"Brother Den!" A devastated Zil called out to him, wrapping his hands around his waist before pulling him into a tight hug.
"They're all dead. They're all dead brother Den" he cried out.
Gently, Den began stroking his hair, feeling sad, sorry and guilty.
He still couldn't help but blame himself.
What was the point of being strong if you couldn't save anyone?

SOMETIME LATER
Finally, Zil was calm now. He has been crying for almost twenty minutes, worrying the two.
His eyes, now swollen, reddened and tears in them. The kid was really trying his best to hold back his tears.
Guess, he wasn't done.
"Are you okay now? Can you......talk about what happened?" Yuuki asked, disappointing Den.
He looked in his direction, glaring while Yuuki tried to ignore him.
Yuuki understood, however, they had to know.
Also, this could help Zil move on. He had to share it, get it off his chest and express his emotions.
To Yuuki, crying alone wasn't going to fix anything.
He understood, he had been there.
"It was around 10pm. A suddenly loud explosion was heard" the kid began, surprising the two.
However, they were more surprised about the time of the event.
The manager said it was around 9pm but he said it was around 10pm.
Did this mean something? Or was it merely a mistake on the manager's side.
"I was with Ger"
The captain of guards.
"We stepped out, into the rain and we saw it"
Rain? It rained? The night he came or the following day.
No, the question should be, when was the village attacked.
Considering he saw no traces of rainfall when he went there. Also, the chief never said it rained.
Den was confused, what the heck was going on?
"The whole village was blocked. It was an invisible fence,.....a....a barrier, Ger said,....trapping the village in the middle. We rushed out to the entrance and watched as people tried to escape but couldn't...........the invisible thing,.....you can only know of its existence when you touch it"
*Sigh, the kid was struggling to talk about it, they could see.
"Is okay if you can't talk about it" Den tried to stop him but the kid wasn't willing to accept the help.
He continued,
"Then......Then a flute was heard, followed by strings of red smoke"
Flute, strings of red smoke,...... The manager forgot about the appearance of the red smoke but he was not lying.
Den was sure of it.
"Anyone who inhaled the smoke dropped dead on the ground. Their bodies, eyes, turning pale. The smoke would also stab, pierce through the body,...... decapitate.........it was horrible. Then........Then........" A horrified Zil struggled to continue and the two couldn't help but feel sorry for him.
He watched as all the people he knew died.
This......This was something he (Den) didn't wish for him, but it happened and he (Den) was helpless.
There was nothing he could do.
Cautiously, Yuuki asked, "Did you see the attackers?"
Den was furious. Disapproving with this action of his and he sent that message by glaring at the poor man.
However,......once again, Yuuki chose to ignore him.
"Two. There were two of them. A man and a lady. All dressed in black. Wearing masks. But I didn't see them play the flute so I guess there was another one. Hiding"
This.........
"The lady would go around, killing others who weren't caught by the smoke" A devastated, disgusted and furious Zil stated.
Shaking in anger.
Gosh, this feeling of helplessness, he (Den) never thought he'll feel it again.
Poor boy.
"What happened to the bodies?" Yu asked and they watched as the boy's eyes widened, horrified.
What did he see? Yuuki was curious.
"Enough!, Zil will tell us when he feels like it. Enough" Den said, looking at the trembling boy with a sad look.
Den was right.
The kid didn't look okay. He should drop this subject.
"Brother Den" the kid called out to him and he looked at him, gently caressing his hair as he asked.
"What's wrong?" In a soft, gentle tone.
"I want to stay with you. I have nowhere to go"
Zil really had nowhere to go. He had no one to trust.
Sure, there were various places he could go for shelter. However, his father warned him against it.
'Survive, find young master Den in Peace Town. That's where he said he's from and I know he was not lying. There's no one you can trust. You can only trust him'
His father told him.
He planned on doing exactly that, however, Den found him before he could.
"Father said you're the only one I can trust. He told me to find you if I survive"
And though he didn't know why. He was not going to question. Those were his last words after all.
He'll do exactly as his father said.
And he'll grow stronger.
Demon Island,..... he'll make sure they pay for this!
