Chapter 20 Leaving the Dungeon

*Crack*

As Alex was fantasizing about how amazing his abilities are going to be, he heard a loud sound like thousands of mirrors being shattered at the same time. Turning around towards the source of the sound the group saw a horrifying sight that sent a cold shiver down their spine. In front of their eyes the space twisted, churned and cracked as a red swirling portal manifested itself in reality.

"I guess that's our ticket out of here." Robert said staring at swirling mass of energy.

"Finally, I can leave this hell hole!!" Alex shouted with joy as he sprinted towards the red portal.

"Wai-" Robert shouted but his voice didn't reach Alex as he jumped into the swirling mass of energy.

"Damn it." Robert cursed as he too, hesitantly, jumped into the swirling mass of energy followed closely by Carla.

Entering the portal, all Alex saw was red and a constant buzzing sound entered his ears. Exiting the portal, Alex fell onto his knees feeling a little noxious.

"Grass? Green grass?!" Alex exclaimed as he touched the grass that was on the forest floor. Looking around Alex saw trees, normal trees around him with green leaves and brown barks,he could feel the warm sunlight on his skin making him feel safe and secure once again or at least as much as before and he could see the obsidian dungeon gate behind him which did little to sour his mood. Taking in the scenery around Alex couldn't help but laugh out loud. Although he didn't let it show he was getting sick of the scenery inside the dungeon. Everything looked scary and wrong causing any human who saw it to feel uncomfortable and an unconscious fear gripping their hearts.

Out the portal came Robert and Carla who just like Alex fell to the ground looking noxious before taking in the scenery around them making their eyes moisten with tears.

"We're finally back." Carla said sniffling a bit.

"Yes, yes we are." Robert said wiping the tears from his eyes.

"We should probably report to master as quickly as possible. He'll probably kill us if we don't come back soon." Carla said with a sigh

"Yes your probably right." Robert also sighed

"Well Alex I guess it's time for you to hold your end of the deal. Hand over the sword." Robert said with a serious expression.

"Fine, hear you go." Alex said as he summoned [Silver Raptor] and handed it over to Robert much to his surprise and causing Carla to sigh in relief. They had thought Alex would have refused and they would have to try and take it by force which they didn't see ending very well for them. With them being in an exhausted state they wouldn't have been able win not with the strength that he showed in the dungeon and him unlocking his Grace ability made the scales tip in his favor even more. As for Alex's, he thought about keeping the arnament but then decided against it. After all the things the three of them went through inside the dungeon together Alex had developed a liking for the two and didn't want jeopardize that a sword and then their was the fact that he promised and he wasn't someone that broke his word easily. Besides he still has the [Crimson Fang] and even though it was a rank lower than the [Silver Raptor] it was still a powerful blade based on it's description alone.

"What's wrong with you cat got your tongue." Alex teased as he stared at the dumbfounded Robert who was still staring at the sword arnament.

"Honestly I thought we'd have to beat you up before you would ever give us this sword." Robert smiled as he the sword disintegrated into silver sparks.

"What can I say I'm a man of my word." Alex said causing Carla to smile a bit.

"I see. See you around Alex I hope we meet again." Robert said as he and Carla turned around to leave.

"Oh, and before we leave I have a piece advice for you."

"What."

"Check out the Explorers guild in Mountmend. I'm sure you'd do great there and you can also make quite a lot of money there especially if you sell those monster cores."

"Okay I'll check it out." Alex nodded and with that both Robert and Carla disappeared into the forest leaving Alex by his lonesome.

'Okay what to do now.' Alex thought but then his stomach answered his question as it rumbled indicating he was hungry.

'Time to hunt.' Alex thought as he sprinted through the forest.
