Chapter 22 Testing his new gains(2)
After eating all the meat(over 10 kilos), Alex decided to test out the rest of his abilities in the forest before heading back to Mountmend . Setting out once again to look for more test subjects he soon stumbled on a pack of eight forest wolves with one of them being slightly bigger than the others devouring the corpse of a beserk deer. Using this opportunity, Alex hid in the shadow of a trees hiding his presence from the wolves. Extending his hand Alex tried to use [Shadow Manipulation] to control the shadow of a tree but was met with some resistance. Closing his eyes and concentrating even harder than before, Alex took control of the trees shadow.
Taking control of the shadow Alex tried to form it into various shapes but found it difficult due to it's innate resistance. Releasing his control on the shadow, Alex decided on a different approach. Using [Shadow Sense] he found his shadow and tried to control it and found that their was no resistance at all. Smiling slightly, he shaped the shadow into various shapes. He soon found that it was easier to shape it into spikes and tentacles and with that he moved to the next test, attacking. Turning his shadow into a spike he sent it forward towards one of the wolves. The speed of the attack was fast but not overwhelmingly so, it reached one of the but before it could hit it the wolf dodged the attack and stared in the direction the attack came from.
Clicking his tongue, Alex retracted his shadow while the wolves vigilantly watched as they searched for the creature that dared to attack them. With a sigh, Alex walked out of the shadows and summoned the [Crimson Fang] in a shower of red sparks causing the wolves to take a step back. The [Crimson Fang]'s blade was around 90cm long and 20cm wide with a deep red shade that gave the impression that it was dyed in the blood of a thousand enemies and radiated a blood thirsty aura causing the wolves to unconsciously shudder. The hit was a light orange colour with a leather grip and a dark purple diamond shaped pommel seperating the hilt from the blade.
Alex was visibly pleased with his new sword as he gave the sword a few swings feeling how light in felt in his hand. Turning towards the wolves, he took a step forward and disappeared from the sight of the wolves. Appearing next to one of the wolves he swung down his sword decapitating it in an instant. Now weary the other wolves started to surround him but he only focused on the larger wolf. Running towards the larger wolf he swung his sword but this time the wolf dodged, barely, his attack.
One of the smaller wolves pounced at Alex but was met with a dark wall of shadows then the cold steel of Alex's blade. Not even glancing at the dead wolf, Alex search for the bigger one who was standing a few meters away cloaked in strong winds. Spotting the wolf, Alex ran towards it at full speed but the beast dodged by leaping into the air but that was fatal mistake on it's part. With grin, Alex pointed his sword at the airborne wolf an activated the [Laser] enchantment and releasing a beam a intense flames barbecuing the wolf mid air.

Seeing their leader turned into a charred corpse, the remaining five wolves ran in fear but how could Alex let free exp go to. Chasing after the wolves he killed them one at a time not letting a single one escape.

'I guess it's time to head back to Mountmend. Wait didn't the system say something about the [Shop] being upgraded. And since I have a good chunk of SP saved up I guess it's time buy some skills.' Deciding to buy some skills before heading back to Mountmend Alex excitedly opened the [Shop] window.

'Well that's new.' Alex thought as he saw the search bar instead of the long list of skill he saw last time.
'Search: Analysis.' Alex said in his mind and instantly the options came.

Simple Analysis(50 SP ): An advanced skill that allows you to gain limited information on weak living organisms and objects.
Analysis(60 SP): An advanced skill that allows you to gain information of the living, non living and objects with a certain gap in strength to the user.]
Reading both descriptions Alex quickly decided which one to choose. Unsurprisingly he chose [Analysis] due to it obviously being the upgraded version of [Simple Analysis]. Purchasing the skill, Alex prepared himself for the usual skull splitting headache that usually came with skill purchases but it never came.

And neither did the usual rush of knowledge.

Alex could see the skill in his status and wondered if it was working properly and decided to test it out.

Looking at a tree, Alex used the [Analysis] skill and nodded his head when he saw that it was working although there were two things that caught his eye.
Firstly, the [Analysis] didn't show Graces or Grace abilities which could mean the skill was not strong enough or it didn't display them because the tree didn't have any, which is unlikely since it still displayed the name and skills even though the tree had none.
Secondly, unlike the status window the skill showed species of the target which could be valuable in the future when he is hunting powerful monsters and beasts.
