Chapter Seven: Cavemen

For several days, Orpheus and Danny roamed around the bustling and vibrant human realm. They walked through the crowded streets and alleys, attracting curious and perplexed gazes from the people they encountered along the way. Their attire was unlike anything the humans had ever seen before. Orpheus wore a long, flowing robe that shimmered with a rainbow of colors, while Danny's outfit was adorned with intricate patterns and symbols that seemed to glow in the sunlight. Their clothing was not from this world, and it was no wonder that they drew so much attention. Despite the stares and whispers that followed them wherever they went, which made Orpheus and Danny uncomfortable. As they aimlessly wandered around the streets, they stumbled upon a small, weather-worn shop. Upon closer inspection, they realized that it was a pawn shop. The both of them approached the man behind the counter, who appeared to be in his late fifties, with a bald head and a weathered, wrinkled face. Orpheus showed the man a piece of paper with an address on it and asked if he knew the location. The man glanced at them before taking the paper and examining it closely. After a moment of silence, he nodded his head in confirmation that he knew where it was.

However, his response left the two of them with a sense of unease. The man explained that the place they were looking for was located far beyond the town limits. To get there, they could either take a flight or a ride. Danny, being unfamiliar with the term "flight," asked the man to explain what it meant. The man gave him a strange look as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Are y'all cavemen or something?" he asked in disbelief. "Who doesn't know what a flight is?" he added, shaking his head.

Orpheus stepped forward, and asked.

"How do we get a flight?".

The man looked up at the two of them and raised an eyebrow. "Well, you could book a flight at the airport or online, but judging by the way you guys look, I don't think you have passports. It might be better if you take a train instead."

Danny nodded. "Okay, that sounds good. How do we go about getting a train?"

The man let out a weary sigh. "First, you need to go to the train station and buy a ticket. Then, you get on the train and ride it to your destination."

"Right, got it," Danny said, looking slightly embarrassed. "And how do we buy the tickets?"

"With money," the man said with a hint of exasperation. "You know, those little pieces of paper that you exchange for goods and services. Honestly, I'm starting to think you guys are cavemen or something."

"So how do we get money" Danny asked again.

"You work or sell something of value to me," he said, his eyes scanning them up and down. Danny, a little taken aback by the man's words, told him that they had nothing of value to offer. The man, however, was not convinced and pointed to Orpheus' wrist, where a diamond-encrusted bezel bracelet gleamed in the light.

"That's not valuable," Danny scoffed, but the man seemed undeterred. "One of the diamonds on that bracelet costs five thousand dollars and is more than enough to get you to where you are going", he said, in a low voice. Danny's eyes widened because diamonds aren't valuable in the supernatural realm. He had no idea that diamonds cost a lot in the human realm.

Orpheus took off his bracelet and extracted two dazzling diamonds from it, which he handed over to the man. In turn, the man paid him ten thousand dollars in cash.

As they concluded their business, Danny approached the man and asked if he could point them in the direction of the train station. The man began to give them directions to the train station.

However, Orpheus, being the cautious one, decided to use his ability to read the man's thoughts to ensure that they were being pointed in the right direction. He focused his mind and listened in on the man's thoughts while he continued to give directions to Danny.

As he listened intently to the man's thoughts, he overheard the man uttering his intentions to rob them of the diamond bracelet. After receiving instructions from the man, Orpheus approached him and whispered, "We were never here. The person who sold you the diamonds was your regular customer. Forget that we ever crossed paths." With that, they made their way out of the place.

"Why did you do that?" Danny inquired, puzzled.

"He was planning to rob us after we left," Orpheus replied with a calm demeanor.

Danny nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "No wonder you had to alter his memory," he said.

Orpheus and Danny set off towards the train station, their minds racing with anticipation for the journey ahead. As they navigated the unfamiliar streets, they couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the towering skyscrapers and bustling crowds that surrounded them. The cityscape was alive with vibrant neon lights and flashing billboards that illuminated the streets with pulsing energy. They were unfamiliar with this strange new world and felt a twinge of nervousness as they navigated their way through the sleek and modern realm of technology. The towering buildings were a far cry from the supernatural realm they were accustomed to, where ancient structures from millennia ago still stood. As the two Supernaturals gazed around, they couldn't help but be awestruck by the vastness and intricacy of this world. Everywhere they looked, they could see the most cutting-edge technological innovations being showcased in all their glory. The sheer scale of it all was almost overwhelming, and they couldn't help but marvel at the incredible sophistication on display before them. It was clear that in this world, everything was different from what they used to hear in stories about the human realm, those folklore and stories didn't do the human realm any justice.
