Revered Magus Chapter 26 – Xander Murik

Rio could break through now, However, he needs to rent a Cultivation room, to have a more successful and solid breakthrough. After researching, breaking through in an area rich with mana increases the chances of success and stabilizes the foundation.

Rio then thought of when he broke through in the cave, which didn't have a good amount of mana, which made the breakthrough longer and more torturous.

'If it wasn't for the Mana Explosive pill, I probably would've ended up failing to break through crippling myself.' Rio thought with a shiver, knowing he could've been a useless bum being trampled on by everyone in this world.

Rio shivered at the thought and he knew he could definitely not let that happen, so Rio made sure to break through into a Cultivation room this time.

After renting a Cultivation room, which cost 10 spirit stones per hour (obviously funded by his generous slave) Rio put two stat points into mana and proceeded to breakthrough.

two hours later, Rio felt even more invigorated and had more abundant mana in his Dantian. When breaking through from Initiate to Mage, the result had a qualitative change, which compressed his Dantian with even denser mana. Now he just felt that the upper limit of mana increased.

It seems every major breakthrough is a qualitative change, while every minor breakthrough improves quantitively.

Rio finally became a mage, which is what people call the start of the arduous journey toward ultimate power. Rio also became a Hachidan Marital Artist, which makes him proficient in both close and long-ranged combat.

So there were no weaknesses in form of combat, either long-ranged magic or short-ranged combat

Rio left that spirit hall and walked directly to the Mission Hall to apply for the competition, when he got there, a sea of people was already lining up in two rows trying to apply for the mission, so Rio could only wait as well.

"MOVE!! Make way for young master Murik"

'Ugh, not this bullshit again, why are people this stuck up that they can't even wait in line. Actually, to be honest, I would wait in line If I could, it would take me an hour before it was my turn' Rio thought

"Murik? As in Xander Murik?"

"Xander Murik? This is someone that can't be provoked"

"That's right, provoking him would be provoking the High Elder"

"If you become targeted by him, your life is basically over"

"...."

Everybody quietly whispered as they moved aside creating an image like Moses and the red sea, Xander seemed to have an awe-aspiring demeanor, which his long black hair and deep black eyes that would make you feel like you were getting trapped in an abyss.

He crossed and walked to the front of the line with his chin high and arms behind his back, however, not one person dared to get in his way. Naturally, Rio was one of them, why would Rio purposely seek trouble when he can easily avoid it and move on with life?

These kinds of people would be pebbles when they attain the power they crave for.

"Hey, can u not cut in line? everyone is clearly waiting to sign up as well."

"ssssss" everyone took a sharp break in and looked towards where the voice came from with baffled faces

'Are you purposely trying to make life hard for yourself?' looks were plastered on everyone's faces. Rio looked over curiously.

Either the person has an equal background or is very stupid, it has to be one. Why else would you purposely question someone who nobody was trying to question? It's not like anyone would be grateful even if you did stick up for them since you would be dragging them in.

Xander turned around to see who dared to question him. Everyone laid their eyes on a gorgeous lady with curves in all the right places. Hazel-like hair and eyes, with a high nose bridge, made her look even more seductive.

Every men's gaze turned from confusion to a face of lust and the female's gaze turned into jealousy when they laid eyes on her.

"Oh? And who may you be?" asked Xander. He seemed to be infatuated also, such a person should have a significant background. Why else would she stand up to him?

"What does who I have to do with you cutting in the line?" She said in an annoyed tone however Xander didn't seem to mind as his face seemed to have traces of curiosity

"Are you also signing up?"

"I already signed up, I am waiting for my friend, and you're making me wait longer by causing such a dramatic scene and holding up the line."

"Friend? Who's your friend?" Xander asked while scanning the crowd

That one "friend" of hers slowly backed up and hid behind a boy with a relatively big stature being able to cover her

"It doesn't matter who my friend is, what matters is that you're holding up the line."

Everyone in the mission hall seemed to be fixated on the conversation and in shock as if they witnessed heaven descending.

'Since nobody is applying, I might as well go apply and leave' Rio thought as he walked up behind everyone since their attention was on the two people's conversation

Rio got to the counter and gave them his token to sign him up, the whole process probably took about thirty seconds with them also asking about his rank. Rio took back his token and left

Or that was what was supposed to happen.

"Hey, you, fish stick" Rio suddenly heard, 'pfff, fish stick. I didn't even know they had that here. Who could possibly be called fish stick' not that Rio really cared. He was still heading for the door until a person blocked me. 'He was the one that came with Xander, wasn't he?'

"Oi, Fish Stick. The Young Master is calling you" he stated proudly

'Fish Stick? Me?' Rio was baffled but still expressionless. Rio looked at Xander to see him using his index finger to call him

'Do I look like a dog? Why is he even calling me' Naturally Rio wouldn't seek out problems but this problem seemed to seek him out while trying to call him in a degrading manner. Since he didn't speak up, he must've thought he would put up with him.

All Rio did was look at him blankly while tilting his head as to say 'What do you want?'

Suddenly Rio felt a hand on my shoulder. "Fish stick, Young Master is beckoning you, you should answer with pace."

Rio grabbed one of the fingers and broke it, forcing him to release his grip. Rio then noticed the girl being taken away by two people unwillingly.

"Ahhhhhh, how dare you!"

You could tell from the tone of the person that he was really in pain. Rio looked closely and saw him wearing a white robe. He seemed to be an Inner Disciple. Rio mistook him for a servant because of the way he acted around Xander

"Ho! It seems you have some skill, what rank are you?" Xander asked in amusement, however, Rio didn't reply and looked at him

"Cold aren't you, but just your little skill is not enough for you to be staring at me as if you're my equal," he said before vanishing

Rio's instinct kicked in and he rolled to the side, evading Xander's attack from behind.

He was unable to see that attack which made Rio panic, however, he still stayed composed since he had his battle instincts he probably would able to avoid his attacks
