Revered Magus Chapter 34 – Jackpot

"When I saw this place, I knew you would let me go, Role" Jack said

"It's nothing personal, we found each other using the jade pendant and came to an agreement, however, due to the fact that the commodity found were too high-profile, me letting you live is like me having a target on my back and purposely letting the wolf know where the prey is." He said in a dignified manner clearly showing he had a good upbringing

"You are a core disciple, even though people would lust over your possessions, who would dare act upon those instincts, the elder backing you would be enough to protect you," Jack said trying to find a way out of this

"For one, the elders don't really care about core disciples like us, they could protect us from small fries like you, however, if someone of a higher power than my master requests it, I can do nothing but oblige, in this world, I only need to rely on myself, I use the elder behind me and a temporary weak umbrella for now." Role said whilst casting, no longer trying to argue with Jack

Since Role was a core disciple, his cast time was practically instant, once his attack went through Jack's defenses and show straight into the middle of his brows, Jack slumped backward leaving nothing but a thud.

'analyze'

[Ding!]

Name: Role Maxar

Class: 4th Rank Mage

Strength: 70.5

Agility: 73.4

Endurance: 60.9

Mana: 310.4

His stats are way beyond me, luckily, Rio ranked up to 3rd Rank before he got here, if Rio uses origin magic and ambushes him, Rio should be able to take care of him effortlessly, Rio used Cover of the shadow to endow himself in a shadow inside the building and waited for Role to let his guard down.

When Rio entered the Building, Rio saw a white mesmerizing scenery, however, what he saw next was the various collections of black jade tokens neatly arranged on shelves with their respective names imprinted underneath.

Role Maxar couldn't resist the temptation and picked out one of the Jade tokens and inputted some mana into it whilst holding it on his forehead. After thirty seconds passed he opened his eyes with him smiling ear to ear.

"Such rewards are too phenomenal to let the academy know and try to pressure me to hand them over" As he said this, he decided to put all the black jade tokens in his storage ring and once Rio finished, he went to the upper floor to see what benefits he could reap there

Rio waited for Role to go upstairs as he might sense his movement if he moved, once Rio was sure he went upstairs, Rio waited a couple of seconds and also went to the second floor, the second floor was unlike the first floor.

The first floor was covered in blinding whiteness whilst this place was covered in mist, Rio suspects it's the material form of mana considering how dense the mana is here, the source must be from the formation on the floor at the middle of the room.

Rio hid in the shadow and waited for my chance once more, he didn't feel regretful for not attacking when he was absorbing knowledge from the tokens as he may have just been pretending just to catch me off guard, so Rio kept his vigilance up and will only attack once his instinct allows him to.

'From the greed of this person, I can tell there is no way he is going to resist the temptation of cultivating at the center of the formation, once he does that, I will combine octane movement art and shadow shift to instantly close the gap and use my level 9 Dark ray since I don't want to take any chances.' Rio Pondered

Dark Ray is a darkness spell attribute that converts mana into condensed dark energy and is released at a single point, the further away the target is the weaker and less accurate the spell becomes, so to unleash the full essence of the skill Rio will need to close in and aim at the forehead.

Since he's a core disciple he may have some lifesaving artifact on him, and Rio doesn't want a core disciple pressuring him not knowing he may try and kill him in the academy, so he has to ensure a clean kill.

As Rio was inspecting the hall, Rio saw Role looking over the formation with a glint of greed in his heart before laughing and saying "The Spirit gathering formation, and a decent leveled one as-well, it seems it has deteriorated over time, but if I stay within this for the next sixth month, I could be halfway into Mage Master realm."

Role looked around, whilst surveying the area before he sat down and started meditating, a couple of seconds passed and his smile grew even wider.

'I will let a couple of minutes pass, just to make sure he is completely relaxed before I make a move' Rio thought

Ten minutes passed and Rio decided it would be best to take action now, Rio simultaneously used both his movement arts and closed the gap between him and Role in less than a second

Role opened his eyes instantly when he realized something was wrong and found Rio In front of him but unfortunately, he was unable to reply as Rio poured a good amount of mana into the spell before aiming it at his forehead, piercing through his eyebrows and coming out the back.

'Phew'

Rio let out a deep breath of relief, if Rio had to cast Dark Ray like any other person It would've been difficult to execute the plan since he would have activated his defensive methods before Rio even unleashed the spell.

Rio looted the body of Role, found this spatial ring, and broke the seal on it before emptying all the contents on it putting it back on his finger, and tossing him to the first floor, if anybody saw him, they may make a sound and would cause me to be aware.

'Luckily, I know a defensive formation for the inheritance, with what I have and my level I can only make a low-level one, but it's enough to at least give me a heads up of an ambush.' Rio thought as he bought out 8 medium spirit stones and placed them in the compass-like arrangement (N, NE, E, SE, S, etc.)

Rio put them about 5 feet away from him in each direction letting them overlap with the spirit gathering formation, luckily weak formations like the protective formation don't tend to cause a clash between the spirit gathering formation.

Once Rio drew the formation on top of the already existing spirit-gathering formation and activated the protective formation the formation let out a semi-transparent cylindrical octagon, whilst repeatedly fading in and out before turning transparent as if it was never there.

Once Rio set that up, he decided to cultivate here for the next couple of months, maybe in the fifth month, Rio will leave and venture around the place and see if anything interesting comes about.
