Land of Whirlpools.

After Obito and the others left, Kaito returned to the sky.

After having a seafood barbecue with Gurē, he woke up Izuna and Chiri, and the group began chatting around the campfire.

"Izuna-senpai," Kaito poked the burning wood with a stick and asked curiously, "How did you handle those two Akatsuki members?"

"Why? Do you want to examine their bodies?" Izuna shrugged. "You didn't mention it beforehand, but unfortunately, both of them have been turned to ashes by my Fire Release."

"Good job," Kaito said. "Though, I've been curious about their abilities for some time."

Chiri added, "Those two had some strange abilities. If we hadn't known about them in advance, they would have been quite troublesome."

Izuna nodded. "We almost let that five-hearted monster escape this time."

"I have a feeling that person was already prepared to retreat," Chiri said.

Kaito then asked, "What about that cultist Hidan? Which village did he come from?"

"Yugakure," Chiri answered.

"Then let's set out tomorrow for the Land of Hot Water to track down the traces of Jashin!" Kaito decided.

...

Northern Frost Country underground base.

Spiral spatial ripples appeared as "Obito" and Black Zetsu returned to the base.

"You're back."

"Welcome back."

Several identical-looking White Zetsu approached.

"Was the mission successful? What about Tobi?"

"The mission failed," Black Zetsu said angrily. "Not only Hidan and Kakuzu, but Tobi was also killed."

"Tobi was killed?"

"How unfortunate."

"Haha, Tobi is dead?"

"It's good, he was too noisy."

The White Zetsu discussed noisily.

The blood puppet, having fully mastered Obito's memories, observed the surroundings and then looked at Black Zetsu.

With a raspy voice, he asked, "What should we do next? Also, you should know the secret of the Box of Ultimate Bliss. Why did you hide it?"

Black Zetsu immediately noticed the suspicion in the blood puppet's eyes and explained, "Zero-Tails, Moryo, the Shinigami, and Jashin—once these four demons are sealed into the Box of Ultimate Bliss, the holder will gain immense power."

His body turned into black liquid and merged with a White Zetsu, taking over half its body.

"Currently, Kaito has sealed Zero-Tails, Moryo, and the Shinigami. The only one left is Jashin. We must stop him from gaining that power!"

"So how do you plan to stop him?" The blood puppet's crimson single eye flashed as he spoke directly, "The chances of succeeding in another assassination attempt are getting lower. We can't afford to lose more Akatsuki members."

"Our power is indeed insufficient," Black Zetsu said sinisterly. "However, the Five Great Shinobi Villages are waiting for Kaito to go to Kusagakure. We can ignite a fire among them."

"Oh? What's the plan?"

"Have White Zetsu transform into Kaito and attack the members of the Five Great Shinobi Villages in Kusagakure."

"The Five Great Shinobi Villages might not be able to do much to Kaito."

"If we slaughter all the ninja from the Five Great Nations in Kusagakure, they will be compelled to use all their resources to seek revenge on Kaito!"

"In that case, go ahead and try." The blood puppet nodded indifferently and walked towards Obito's room.

...

Konoha Village.

After Naruto fell asleep, Minato gently tucked him in and silently jumped out the window, landing on the rooftop of the apartment.

A tall white-haired man was standing at the edge, looking down at the night view of Konoha.

"Jiraiya-sensei, you're here," Minato's figure suddenly appeared beside him.

"Minato." Jiraiya didn't turn his head. "Tsunade has already told me about your deal with that Uchiha boy."

"Sorry, I was too excited to see Naruto earlier and didn't have time to explain to you," Minato said with an embarrassed smile.

"No worries, I understand," Jiraiya said, smiling. "Naruto's asleep?"

"Yes," Minato bowed. "Thank you, Jiraiya-sensei, for taking care of Naruto."

"No need to thank me, it's what this great sage should do." Jiraiya waved his hand awkwardly. "As for the Third Hokage... that old man grew softer with age. I'm sorry, Minato. It was my negligence that Naruto suffered growing up."

"The news about Naruto being the Nine-Tails' Jinchuriki must have been spread by Danzo, with the Third eventually approving it."

Minato's expression turned somber.

"It was likely to calm the public and give the villagers a clear target for their hatred."

Jiraiya said helplessly, "I should have looked after Naruto as his godfather. But after your sacrifice, Konoha went through several regional wars. Trusting in the Third's promise, I didn't return to the village. By the time I did, everything was set in stone..."

"Jiraiya-sensei," Minato said, "there's no need to say more. It's not your fault. The Third and Danzo are history. Ultimately, all the pain started with my judgment as a father."

"It was my mistake as a father."

"If Kushina knew, she would have beaten me up for sure."

"So from now on, I'll always be by Naruto's side, fulfilling my duty as a father."

Jiraiya comfortingly patted his shoulder and asked seriously, "Do you know Kaito's true identity?"

Minato nodded.

"The mysterious Onmyoji. I always thought it was just a legend."

Jiraiya looked at him worriedly.

"We don't understand the methods of an Onmyoji. Be careful."

"Don't worry, Jiraiya-sensei," Minato said with a smile. "Kaito's conditions aren't harsh."

"I'm not worried about that," Jiraiya said. "I'm concerned he might have special powers that could compel you to do his bidding against your will."

He quietly told Minato about the relationship between Onmyoji and their summoned beasts as explained by Fukasaku.

Minato was stunned after hearing this.

This was different from what Kaito had said.

But he didn't fully believe either.

He would have to verify it himself.

"Don't worry, Jiraiya-sensei," he said softly. "I can end this state at any time and return to the Pure Land."

"Really? Then I'm relieved!" Jiraiya patted Minato's shoulder. "I'll leave you to it then. Spend time with Naruto."

With that, he disappeared in an instant.

Minato returned to Naruto's apartment and sat by his bed, staying awake all night.
