After entering the spatial passage, Kaito felt a sudden darkness, and the light completely dimmed. He looked around and found himself in a cave inside a mountain. Only a few faint rays of light penetrated through the rocky ceiling.
The cave wasn't very large, and there were no entrances or exits, accessible only through the spatial passage.
"I didn't expect you to have the ability to set up such a secret place," he said, turning to look at Jin, who was flapping his wings mid-air.
"Caw!" Jin flew towards a massive rock standing in the cave. "This was set up by Tengu."
"Oh?" Kaito was a bit surprised. "Please explain in detail."
Jin flew to the side of the massive rock and landed on the ground.
The crows that had followed Kaito into the cave also settled on the ground around the cave.
"Caw! This is where Tengu fell," Jin said, flapping his wings. "We follow orders to guard Tengu's remains."
"I see."
Kaito carefully examined the large square rock. The rock was surrounded by various shiny objects collected by the crows, and on top of it lay a somewhat worn-out fan.
Kaito walked over and bowed.
"So, you submitted to Kaguya and became chakra beings on the orders of Tengu?" he asked.
"Yes, we couldn't lead the enemy to Mount Ōeyama. Submission was the only way to ensure our tribe's survival," Jin replied in a sorrowful tone. "After Kaguya was sealed, our tribe has been hiding here, without forming any summoning contracts with ninjas."
Kaito nodded and asked, "What about afterward? Why did you only establish contact with Futa recently?"
"Caw! It was by chance that we contacted Lord Futa," Jin said, somewhat embarrassed. "After the initial members of our tribe passed away, we lost information about the location of Mount Ōeyama."
'Are you serious?'
Kaito looked at him in disbelief.
Jin picked up a jade-shaped stone from the pile of scattered items beside the rock and flew to Kaito. Following Jin's gesture, Kaito stretched out his hand to catch it.
"Caw! Our crow tribe has limited talent and couldn't master senjutsu over the years," Jin continued to explain. "It was only recently that I barely absorbed natural energy and activated this jade."
"I understand," Kaito said, looking at the jade in his hand. "But now that you've become chakra beings, it's almost impossible to revert to your original forms as youkai."
"Lord Kaito!"
An older voice called out. Kaito looked over and saw an old crow with dull feathers.
"Lord Kaito, we've heard of your great name from Lord Futa. Please, help us. Jin is the most talented among our crow tribe. If he can return to being a youkai, it would be enough."
Kaito pondered for a moment before saying, "I can't make any promises. Even if Jin is to restore his youkai form, it must wait until Kaguya is dead."
"After all, Kaguya has merged with the Divine Tree, and it can be said that all chakra on this planet is her will."
"Caw! We are willing to contribute to defeating Ōtsutsuki Kaguya," the old crow assured eagerly.
Jin and the other crows also cried out in agreement.
"Very well," Kaito said, handing the jade back to Jin. "I will set up an array here to increase the concentration of natural energy, helping you to practice senjutsu better."
"Thank you very much, Lord Kaito."
Jin picked up the jade and lowered his head to the ground.
"Thank you very much."
All the crows bowed their heads.
"You're welcome."
Kaito turned his gaze back to the square rock, placing his hand on it to sense its internal situation.
There wasn't actually a physical body inside. When youkai die, they completely dissipate.
However, as the top youkai, Tengu had left some remnants behind.
Inside the rock, a faint trace of youkai power remained.
"Lord Kaito?" the old crow asked, puzzled.
"I didn't expect Tengu to have left a trace of youkai power here," Kaito said. "This will make the resurrection plan go more smoothly."
"Resurrection plan?"
"It's better for Lord Mo to explain the specifics to you."
Kaito took a piece of green tree branch from his sleeve.
"Fortunately, Lord Mo didn't send just one clone."
He threw the branch to the ground and formed hand seals.
"Wood Clone."
The small green branch quickly grew, its canopy reaching the cave ceiling.
A kind face emerged from the tree trunk.
"Is that the legendary great youkai, caw?"
"It doesn't seem much different from an ordinary tree."
"Idiot, that's just a clone, caw!"
The crows rasped in loud "whispers."
"Lord Mo."
Kaito approached the tree and softly explained the current situation in detail.
"I see," Mo said, his weathered eyes looking at the rock enveloping Tengu's remains. "What do you plan to do?"
"The arrangements made by Tengu before his death should not be disturbed. We can only transfer the soul-nourishing array from Mount Ōeyama to here."
"Thank you, Kaito," Mo agreed.
"Then I will start setting up the array."
After Kaito stepped back, Jin and the old crow quickly flew to Mo's side.
Ignoring the crows' interaction with Mo, Kaito began setting up the array to gather natural energy.
Since this wasn't a temporary array, Kaito couldn't use talisman paper as the nodes and had to use other materials he had collected over time.
After rummaging through his little treasure trove for a while, Kaito finally grabbed a handful of black feathers.
These were the feathers of the crow tengu, Futa.
Unlike the feather with power used by Futa to contact Kaito, these feathers had naturally fallen off and were collected by Kaito.
He took out a brush and quickly wrote tiny runes on the feathers.
After writing runes on all the feathers, Kaito grabbed them and threw them into the air, forming hand seals quickly.
The tiny runes on the feathers glowed with a blue light, spreading throughout the feathers, turning them semi-transparent blue.
A burst of spiritual light erupted from Kaito, causing the feathers to arrange themselves automatically. Blue lines formed and rapidly created a complex and splendid pattern.
Then, the entire array descended and slowly merged into the ground, causing the cave air to vibrate, forming a vortex in mid-air. When all the commotion subsided, the air in the cave changed noticeably.
"Caw! The concentration of natural energy has really increased!" Jin shouted joyfully. "Thank you, Lord Kaito!"
