In the outside world, facing the Sage of Six Paths, Seimei covered his face with his fan and simply replied, "I merely chose to leave troublesome matters to the younger generation."
"Leaving it to the younger generation? Lord Seimei's carefree attitude truly leaves me in awe," the Sage of Six Paths said, though it was unclear whether he believed it or not.
"In that case, Hagoromo, would you kindly withdraw?" Seimei smiled. "After all, Kaito can be considered a junior of your family."
"Lord Seimei, you jest."
The Sage of Six Paths showed no intention of leaving.
"Today, I am deeply honored to meet a legendary figure as graceful and refined as you."
He tapped his staff on the ground again, the rings hanging from its head jingling softly.
"However..."
The Sage of Six Paths tapped his staff three times.
"I will never willingly relinquish the power of the Pure Land."
Three identical curse patterns spread across the ground beneath his feet, and three figures slowly rose from them.
"Hamura, Indra, Ashura," the Sage of Six Paths called their names.
Hamura, Indra, and Ashura opened their eyes simultaneously.
"Brother."
"Old man."
"Father."
"Oh my, I see now."
Seimei took a step forward, leaping down from Susanoo's hand and landing gracefully on the ground.
He fanned himself as he slowly walked forward, speaking in a tone as if he were having a friendly conversation, though the content of his words was anything but ordinary.
"Hagoromo, Hamura. For a thousand years, I have never ceased observing humanity, yet the two of you have always remained elusive to me. You are the children of the planet's invader, Ōtsutsuki Kaguya, yet you sealed away your own mother for the sake of the humans on this planet. Whether it was dividing the power of the Divine Tree, founding the Shinobi Sect to spread chakra, or guarding the seal on the moon, all your actions were for the peace and stability of the world. To be honest, I was somewhat suspicious of your true intentions back then... Were you truly protecting the world, or were you seeking to occupy it and seize its power in preparation for the arrival of other Ōtsutsuki clan members?"
Seimei stopped walking as he finished speaking, exactly standing at the edge of the array.
The Sage of Six Paths and his brother Hamura fell silent for a moment, but Indra spoke up, "Old man, who is this guy?"
Hamura and Ashura also looked over curiously.
The Sage of Six Paths solemnly introduced, "This is the legendary great onmyōji, Abe no Seimei, Lord Seimei."
"So it is Lord Seimei. My apologies for the earlier rudeness," Hamura bowed politely.
"Ah! I remember now! I've read stories about the great onmyōji Abe no Seimei!" Ashura, after a moment of thought, suddenly raised his hand enthusiastically and smiled brightly at Seimei. "Lord Seimei, I'm Ashura! I really loved reading about you when I was a kid!"
Standing beside Ashura, Indra's face darkened as he slapped his brother on the back. "Shut up."
"Brother!" Ashura looked aggrieved, tears welling up in his eyes. "You used to love reading about Lord Seimei too when we were kids! Don't you remember how we used to read those books together?"
Seeing his burly, rough-looking brother making such a pitiful expression, Indra quickly averted his eyes.
The usually silent Indra was internally complaints nonstop.
The "pretending to be pitiful" trick hasn't worked on me since Ashura was five! Who would have thought that after thousands of years, this guy is still using it!
Sometimes I don't know whether to admire his perseverance or despise his lack of self-awareness!
Just look at his face!! Ugh!
"Brother!" Ashura suddenly cried out sad sound.
Indra turned his head to see Ashura staring at him in disbelief, tears glistening at the corners of his eyes.
"What's wrong?"
Indra asked, then quickly looked away again.
Ugh!
What is this guy doing!
That face is getting more and more unbearable to look at!
Someone like this is definitely not the brother I, the "Most Handsome Man in Heaven and Earth," Indra, will admit!
Indra's thoughts began to drift.
I really miss the cute little brother from before he turned five!
Come to think of it, why did Ashura end up looking like this?
Ah, it must be the old man's fault. Ashura grew uglier the more he resembled the old man.
What a family tragedy!
"Huh?"
Indra suddenly felt something was off.
"Did my thoughts just get broadcasted?"
"Did my thoughts just get broadcasted?"
"Indeed!"
"Indeed!"
This time, Indra was certain. His face darkened as he glared at Seimei in the distance.
"Damn it! It's your doing, isn't it?" He was now furious, grinding his teeth as he spoke harsh words. "Let me make this clear, I don't hold much respect for someone who only exists in old books, so don't expect me to hold back!"
"Hehe, there's no need for you to care about my identity. I am merely a humble onmyōji," Seimei said gently, covering his face with his fan, then pointed to the spots beside and behind Indra. "However, it seems there's something important you need to deal with right now."
Indra's body stiffened as he slowly turned his head.
"Brother..." Ashura's voice was choked with sobs, tears streaming down his face. "So the reason you stopped treating me as well as you did when we were kids is because you think I'm ugly! Wuwuwu... It's not like I chose to look like this... Wuwuwu... This is so hurtful... Wuwuwu..."
Ashura's heart was filled with indignant.
As Indra's brother, his inner world was just as colorful.
To be honest, compared to my brother, I think I look more manly, right? My brother really knows how to talk nonsense!
Is he serious?
Calling himself the "Most Handsome Man in Heaven and Earth"? Pfft!
Come to think of it, it must be the old man's fault. My brother must have such distorted aesthetics because he hates the old man so much, which is why he dislike me for looking like him...
"To be honest... dislike me for looking like him..."
What!
"What!"
Ashura in horror covered his mouth and looked over.
Sure enough, both his brother and father's faces now looked as terrifying as evil spirit!
"Sure enough... as terrifying as evil spirit!"
No, no, no! I can't think anymore!
"No, no, no..."
Ashura covered his mouth and shook his head vigorously, his head becoming a blur.
"Truth-Seeking Balls!"
The Sage of Six Paths slammed his staff on the ground, and the nine Truth-Seeking Balls around him suddenly rose, spinning around him and his two sons.
"My apologies, but I need to handle some family matters first."
"Please," Seimei gestured politely.
Hamura silently stepped aside.
"Whoosh!"
The nine Truth-Seeking Balls instantly merged, forming a massive black curtain that completely enveloped the Sage of Six Paths and his two sons.
What followed was a period of silent waiting.
Hamura awkwardly stared at the distant ceiling of the hall, while Seimei continued to fan himself leisurely.
"Whoosh!"
The black curtain fell, transforming back into the Truth-Seeking Balls.
The Sage of Six Paths walked out, holding his staff, with Indra and Ashura following behind him, their heads lowered in silence.
"Now then..." The Sage of Six Paths glanced serious at the towering figure of Enma nearby. "Lord Seimei, shall we continue our earlier discussion?"
