At first, I was thinking that it may be a good idea to ask some townspeople or go to a city and see if anyone has been causing trouble lately. But I can not do that due to my current self-set restrictions of not talking to people.

'For now, I will go grab some other food for my pet'

Back at my tower, with my pet happily munching on a rabbit, I was researching in my library. To be more specific I am looking for information on underground organizations, and shady activity from different kingdoms that may have been recorded in the past. However, I figured that any decent group that wants to remain hidden would not allow traces of themselves to remain in records. every once in a while I would stumble upon a book that contained information about me. It is always funny to see the different delusions people come up with about me.

Upon Finding nothing valuable from history I turned to practical methods that could help. I am searching for magic-related methods but I will take what I can get.

After looking for a while I stumbled upon a scroll so old it looked to have seen the beginning of time. It was titled Enlightenment or something, I'm not that proficient in older languages so I wasn't sure. Part of the scroll recalled how some monk had managed to tap into the big mana streams that flow through the planet and glean information about the state of the world from them. However, It is also noted that he passed soon after due to there being too much info at once, and he went crazy.

Suddenly, a voice resounded in my mind

'I would highly advise against any of the methods transcribed here. I have witnessed far too many powerful magicians lose themselves due to -'

'Are you in the scroll?' I asked

'...yes'

'bye then'

I tossed the scroll back to its shelf and started walking to the basement where the connection to the mana was.

'At least hear me out!!' the scroll yelled, I did not hear him out.

What I am trying to do is feel all the mana in the world briefly and feel what was happening. As the scroll had said, This was most likely very dangerous, even for me, so I have to be careful and not get overwhelmed by information like that one monk did. Even entering the state where I could attempt to get info from the mana would take many days so I made sure to get into a comfortable position. Time passed quickly, and the mana network of the planet was gradually becoming more accessible. It truly was vast, beautiful, and almost unfathomable. Steading my consciousness I peered into the abyss that this mana network was.

I woke up with my head feeling like it was being split into a million pieces. Even having looked at it for a split second was almost too much for my mortal consciousness and I had passed out. Calming my mind, I felt that the title of the talking scroll was not just false bravado. Even the brief moment I felt everything allowed me to glean methods that would allow me to become even stronger than I am. But no matter, I also felt large disturbances in certain places. I am certain that the cause of the disturbances are like that machine I found earlier. And I decided to go check them out.

This time, I knew to be careful and I was not about to allow it to blow up again. Having connected to the totality of the mana, I could now feel mana much clearer than before. Which is saying something. I already had the best mana sense in the world as far as I was aware, and my mana-sensing abilities may have almost doubled. Now it was clear where the mana was being transported and the cloaking ability that was on the machine was truly phenomenal. Whoever made it was clearly very powerful, which was exciting. I quickly traced the mana trail to the place where it was traveling and almost lost my punishment immediately, The one where I can't talk to people. The place the mana was going was unsurprisingly a storage of some kind, and it was being manned by a couple hundred people. I was going to ask them what they were all doing, hence me almost losing my punishment. Not being able to take the easy way out, I started to observe the place before I took any drastic actions, like blowing the place up. The facility was quite high-tech, The walls were completely smooth, and state-of-the-art magical technology was running all over the place.

'It's amazing! There are Hazard prevention training facilities, which allow for insane training without risk of harm, and there are infinite potion devices everywhere that seem to grant potion buffs without having to use a potion. There are data storing systems almost as cool as my library, massive prisons with malnourished people in them, and crazy dangerous looking experiments being performed on some of them!'

'hmm... those last two are pretty bad aren't they.'

Upon closer examination, the facility seemed to be using civilians of all ages and races to perform random experiments on them. Most of them were lethal, so I hastily warped everyone to a nearby city. The massive energy that was being siphoned here was only being used a small amount compared to the colossal amount that was being stored. I could only assume that whoever was in charge was not going to use this energy for something beneficial to the world. For now, I would lock everyone left inside the facility and return the energy back to the world, along with destroying the machine that was bringing energy to this place of course. After doing that, I went to the next place where a major disturbance was occurring. It was only a sacrificial ritual or something so I blew it up and ran to the next one. This one was a machine like before so I followed its energy trail and was led to a similar facility to the last one. This one seemed even more horrific, so I moved the victims out and just decided to erase this one. I kept going around to the major disturbances and kept finding machines that led to facilities, which I either locked up or disposed of. There were around 15 in total. They must have not been more than 2 years old, Or the planet would have had trouble with the insane energy losses, and something on the level of planetary extinction could have occurred.

'There must be a place where all the higher ups for that place are, I must find it'

At the place where all the higher ups are meeting.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN STAY CALM." higher up 1 yelled.

"I understand that some, well all, of our facilities are being destroyed, But instead of freaking out, Let's GO KILL WHOEVER IS DESTROYING OUR STUFF." higher up 2 stated.

"Fools, There is only one thing who can do something like this." says higher up 3.

"You mean Winter, the one who is rumored to be the strongest?" higher up 1.

"Of course it could be the alliances' knights that are doing this, and are doing a joint assault, But yes I do mean him." higher up 3.

"He is said to be a fallen God, you really think we can face something like that?" Higherup 1.

"Fool, he's human just like us... probably." higherup 2.

"I hear he has an energy source that is infinite." higher up 1.

"Then let's take it from him." higher up 3.

"Elaborate," higherup 2.

"I bet what he has done is connect a magic device to a mana vein and use a connection to give himself energy. So all we have to do is make something so powerful that it can steal the connection between him, the strongest, and the device in an instant without him, the strongest, noticing and use it against him, the strongest, before he realizes what happens." higherup 3.

"So it's impossible, as I thought" higherup 2

"Wait... I heard that he likes toying with those he deems to be his prey. For example, he would only use weak defensive magic to kill a dragon slowly, or keep a mole type creature buried with magic long enough that it just gives up and gets crushed." higherup 1

"And how in the name of anything is that supposed to help us" higherup 2 muttered

"You see, if he only uses weak magic at first, then he might let us cast something dangerous because he is underestimating us. And by the time he realizes his mistAKE IT WILL BE TOO LATE FOR HIM! ... Sorry, but not bad for a basic plan, no?" higherup 1
