Chapter 446: Fragile Silicon Star People_1

According to the radar display, the first volley from the Monster Cannon had inflicted huge losses on the enemy.

But the enemy's weapons were clearly still out of range and they were desperately charging towards the Cao Yang Fleet.

In theory, the more than three thousand warships of the Pioneering Fleet should have been able to handle most sudden situations and all the wars imagined by everyone.

If they encountered a God-level Civilization, they could only consider themselves unlucky; it didn't matter if there were three thousand or thirty million warships, they'd have to retreat humbly.

The battle of the New Continent Star System was one of those unforeseen situations where the human antimatter weapons' advantage couldn't be played out. It only exposed the shortcoming of human warships being poor at close combat.

Now, at last, it was possible to fight a battle for redemption!

Amongst the shouts of Cao Yang, "Avenge the fallen of the New Continent Star System battle!", the Monster Cannon was charged for over twenty minutes before firing another volley, recharging, and firing again!

Time after time, the enemy was struck blow after blow!

Many people, remembering the previous fierce battles, had their eyes moistened.

That once insurmountable enemy, so formidable that it sent tremors through hearts, was now so easily defeated!

Others cheered, realizing the Solar System State was even more powerful than they had imagined!

For a moment, the Silicon Star People were bewildered, clearly having misjudged the situation due to their earlier victories, thinking that a swarm tactic could break through the blockade of the Cao Yang Corps.

Little did they know, the range of human weapons extended over fifty astronomical units!

And plasma weapons could never reach such a distance, hence Jiang Yu's urgency to go to war. Thanks to the Trisolarans, humanity's weapons now had an absolute advantage in range.

Even with a distinct numerical disadvantage, they could still compensate with range.

If they allowed the enemy to close in further with long-range antimatter weapons, that would be troublesome.

Upon realizing the strength of the Cao Yang Corps, the Silicon Star People's fleet immediately took action.

The charging warships continued their charge while the trailing troops altered their direction, advancing in eight different directions.

Clearly, they intended to sacrifice these thirty thousand warships for a chance to escape.

Cao Yang was prepared, ignoring the fleeing ships and focusing on the enemy's vast warship cluster, aiming to annihilate the enemy's armed forces as much as possible.

After more than thirty volleys, some of the Monster Cannons, due to overloading or insufficient energy, needed to be repaired before they could continue firing.

As more and more Monster Cannons entered maintenance status, the enemy's weapons finally came within firing range, starting a sparse counterattack.

The warships responsible for covering the Cao Yang Corps entered the fray.

The enemy's firing was sparse partly because the distance was still too vast, resulting in significant inaccuracy and a lack of power in their weapons.

On the other hand, to evade the bombardment, they had widened the distance too much; some of their ships had started to retaliate, while others were still out of range.

The warships of the Cao Yang Corps were no slackers; although the ordinary battleship's antimatter cannons were vastly different from the Monster Cannon, at this distance, one could take on three without issue.

Guided by the radar, each ship fought as if divinely assisted, completely keeping the enemy ships beyond a safe distance.

The war had reached a point where there was little suspense left. Cao Yang was fully focused on commanding at the frontline while Jiang Yu and the Solar System were already discussing how to fight the ensuing battle.

Commander Kuberdow said, "We currently have over a hundred and thirty probes at the frontline. Whether the enemy splits into eight directions, sixteen directions, or even thirty-two, we are not afraid.

"But we are worried if the enemy scatters all at once; a fleet consisting of hundreds of thousands of warships sounds grand, but in the cosmos, it's like a water molecule in the ocean.

"If they want to hide, we simply won't be able to find them, let alone catch up!"

Xing Yuanbin disagreed, saying, "According to our observations of the enemy fleet, during their interstellar voyages, many small ships shuttle between the warships.

"I suspect that during their long interstellar journeys, their ships must have formed a widespread cooperative relationship. Therefore, we believe it's impossible for them to disperse and escape individually."

Cooper asked, "So, roughly how many ships have close cooperative relationships?"

Xing Yuanbin sighed, "Based on the intelligence we currently have, it's about sixty to ninety warships."

Number Three expressed concern, "If they can form a small unit with just a hundred warships, it would also be difficult for us to pursue them!"

In that case, they could split up into thousands of small teams!

Thousands of ants scattering into the dark tropical rainforest – how would one chase them?

Jiang Yu reminded them, "Once their forces are dispersed, they will pose even less of a threat to us! If they dare to split their forces, why can't we?"

He paused and then said, "However, we must maintain strict surveillance! Starting today, build interstellar probes at full capacity! Let's start with ten thousand!"

The latter statement was an order Jiang Yu gave to Hao Ying.

Jiang Yu continued, "It's still the same message! Not a single enemy can be allowed to escape!"

Everyone nodded in agreement. Jiang Yu's determination was like a backbone to them, providing direction and motivation in their work.

The war had turned into a pursuit in its later stages, lasting a full three days, and it was only with the range advantage that the Cao Yang Corps achieved final victory.

The upper echelons of the Solar System State were glued to the situation for those three days and nights. After all, this was another major battle against other civilizations following the "Second Battle."

It was also humanity's first external war after a shift in strategic thinking, making it extraordinarily significant.

It wasn't until the Cao Yang Corps had wiped out nearly thirty thousand enemy ships that Cao Yang immediately ordered the entire corps to link up with the interstellar propulsion units. After a brief flight at the speed of light, they would appear right in front of one of the escaping enemy factions, ready to engage in a blockade battle.

Meanwhile, over a thousand warships that had already assembled at the forward base were pursuing enemies in another direction.

Although Cao Yang was somewhat fatigued, he could hardly conceal his excitement; after all, the battle had destroyed nearly thirty thousand enemy warships, yet the Cao Yang Corps had lost only a dozen or so of their own.

This was perhaps the greatest victory in a single battle since humanity entered space.

However, Jiang Yu was lost in thought, recalling how the Trisolarans had destroyed over three thousand human warships with just one Waterdrop!

Of course, much of that victory was due to humanity's own folly, but the disparity in strength between the two sides at the time was clear.

Humanity, at this point, was certainly stronger than the Silicon Star People but not yet so strong as to undergo a qualitative change!

The Silicon Star People still had the capability to counterattack, which made it all the more crucial not to let them get away!

Cao Yang went to rest, and Jiang Yu and the others also took turns resting.

Today, the whole Blue Maiden Star had been in a state of excitement. With the end of the war, everyone's enthusiasm had nearly run out.

Hao Ying made a public speech, encouraging everyone to maintain their working attitude, for this was only the first battle won, and the war with the Silicon Star People had just begun!

The first victory allowed Jiang Yu to finally sleep soundly.

He slept for nearly twenty hours, releasing the pressure that had built up over the years.

Not long after he woke up, Number Three from the Solar System sent him a communication request.

Jiang Yu thought of what Number Three had said before the battle started; it seemed there had been significant discoveries in communication with the Silicon Star People.

Upon connecting the call, there was a man with yellow hair and a large beard on the other side.

Number Three introduced him, "This is Corridon Borg from the Strategic Department. Through his analysis of the Silicon Star People's intelligence, he believes that the Silicon Star People's adherence to the Dark Forest Law seems incomplete!"
