The Federal Government flew into a panic upon receiving Vasily's report.
They had previously not paid much attention to the incident after seeing images of the two-dimensional foil, but who would have thought that the new message was like a bomb thrown at the upper echelons of the Federal Government!
The President immediately called an emergency meeting, which was chaotic.
A lawmaker said, "I told you so! Wallfacer World might not necessarily protect us, we should have put more effort into researching curvature engines!
"Now look, with only those few lightspeed spaceships, you tell me what we should do!"
Another lawmaker said, "The source of the message is the Solar System State, who knows if this isn't some sort of conspiracy or trick of theirs? I suggest we refrain from any rash actions until the situation becomes clear."
"Hahaha!" A lawmaker laughed loudly, "Wait for the situation to become clear? You fool, don't you understand?
"Once the three-dimensional space begins to fall into two dimensions, the entire Solar System Federation, except for those few curvature spaceships, won't have any flying vehicle capable of escaping the Dimensional Reduction Strike!"
The lawmaker who had argued for restraint frowned and said, "Don't think you can deceive me! The fall from three to two dimensions will increase the universe's area, it's an outward expansion force.
"How can we not escape?"
A lawmaker looked at this naïve colleague with the eyes one reserves for an idiot and said, "This falling process is more like a waterfall flowing down from a sheer cliff!
"And our spaceships are but tiny boats, the moment the falling process begins, we will be immediate in the middle of the turbulent waterfall. Please tell me, can you row a boat to the top of a waterfall?
"Think about the intelligence regarding the four-dimensional fragments!"
The President said irritably, "Alright! With things as they are, what's there to question?
"Haven't you thought about it, why would an advanced civilization send us a gravitational source that has no significant effect?
"For fun?"
The meeting room fell silent.
Several seconds later, a lawmaker finally asked, "So, what do we do now?"
"What else can we do?" the President said, "We ask the Solar System State for help, pleading with them to take away as many federation citizens as possible!"
Then she added seriously, "None of those present here are to think about leaving aboard those curvature spaceships, since you are the Federal Government's senior officials, be prepared to work until the very last moment."
The faces of the lawmakers looked unpleasant, but they had nothing to say in rebuttal.
Just then, an alarm went off suddenly.
The military's emergency report came into the meeting room: "Madam President, honorable lawmakers, the Solar System State has just made a big move!"
...
Inside Exile, Cheng Xin had mostly regained her ability to move.
She had heard Kent and Bai Ice's conversation earlier, and she now clearly understood the power of the two-dimensional foil, as well as the efforts made by the Solar System State.
She stared intently at the small piece of paper, as if the moment it left her sight, the two-dimensional fragment would be able to break free from its constraints.
In the quiet spaceship, an announcement from Galaxy III suddenly rang out: "Spacecraft with the identifier MX-18867 has issued a docking request with this vessel."
Cheng Xin was startled, "What kind of spacecraft is this, and what business do they have docking here?"
Wasn't she a prisoner? Why would anyone come to visit?
Galaxy III replied, "MX-prefix spacecraft indicates civilian small craft, the numbers are the identifier of said craft.
"The party has received the necessary approval and may dock with this vessel, estimated docking time in twenty-two minutes."
Cheng Xin gave a wry smile as she once again confirmed her status as a prisoner; an artificial intelligence could decide to let someone into her 'prison', yet she herself did not have such authority.
Cheng Xin spent the next twenty anxious minutes until the doors of both ships opened. She saw Ai AA from the other spacecraft.
Ai AA had cut her hair short, looking even more capable than before, and her entire demeanor seemed much more composed.
As their eyes met, both of them dampened with tears, they silently embraced for a moment before Ai AA began to recount her experiences.
She had been revived in the Solar System Federation five years ago and upon finding out Cheng Xin was imprisoned by the Solar System State, she tried every means to immigrate there.
But at that time, as the Solar System State was preparing to implement the Ark plan, they were not accepting any form of immigration.
Ai AA had to settle for a temporary residency, living in the only Space City that the Solar System State still had open to the outside.
Although she was never able to enter the core cities of the Solar System State, she managed to keep track of Cheng Xin's whereabouts through her social skills.
Upon learning that Cheng Xin was to be awakened and sent into exile, she immediately applied to visit her, unexpectedly, the Solar System State authorities even approved her request.
"Perhaps they also thought you would be too lonely being exiled alone," Ai AA said.
Cheng Xin smiled bitterly, "You shouldn't have come, you should have stayed in the cities of the Solar System State, and left the Solar System with them!"
Ai AA shook her head, "I also felt that you would be too lonely. Just as Wallfacer Jiang Yu said, you were not competent as a decision-maker for humanity, but as an individual, anyone would gladly befriend you."
She smiled, then shifted the topic, "Let me tell you about what I've seen and heard during the years I lived in the Solar System State.
"To be honest, I used to think the Solar System State was simply a different system from the Solar System Federation, only to realize after living through it that the two regimes are entirely different.
"The mobilization capability of the Solar System State is just too powerful, half a century ago, the Solar System State started full-scale immigration to the New Continent Star System.
"By now, over two hundred million people have arrived and are beginning to build humanity's new home.
"Another two hundred million are on their way, and the remaining population in the Solar System State is only over thirty million!"
Cheng Xin once again sensed Ai AA's composure; she had always thought of Ai AA as a girl who could not grow up, but now it seemed as if she had suddenly matured.
When she spoke, her voice lacked its former flamboyance and vivacity, but the emotion in her tone was richer, making her sound more like a storyteller, as well as someone with stories to tell.
Clearly, living in the Solar System State had been greatly beneficial to her.
Cheng Xin sighed, "The New World... I wonder what it's like there?"
"There are three planets suitable for human habitation!" said Ai AA. "In the Solar System State, they frequently broadcast updates on the new home.
"The Blue Maiden Star has been developed into humanity's second center.
"The Fuxi Star, located closer to its star and inside the orbit of Blue Maiden Star, has unique ecosystems only beyond the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, with the equator being a desert.
"Shennong Star, on the outer side of Blue Maiden Star, has the opposite condition, with abundant biological activities only near the equator, and the rest of the areas being perpetually covered in ice fields.
"Those are truly extraordinary worlds!"
