Chapter 485: The Final Victory_1

Blue Maiden Star, Jiang Yu's home.

Jiang Yu sat in the dark dining room, silently smoking a cigarette.

He hadn't suffered from insomnia like this in a long time. Whenever he closed his eyes, the conversations with the gyro would echo in his ears.

Many times he felt he was very close to understanding the gyro's warning, but when it came to specifics, he couldn't articulate it.

He only knew that the gyro's warning was crucial for a civilization.

Even Jiang Yu believed it could fill a gap in the Dark Forest Law.

The bedroom door opened, and Yang Dong, dressed in pajamas, came out. She had woken up because she hadn't felt Jiang Yu in her dreams, and so she had awakened too.

The Strategic Department's predictions were accurate; starting around Galaxy Year 2, humanity's technological development once again entered the fast lane.

It was only last year that Jiang Yu had awoken Yang Dong because of the "Chameleon" incident, and string theory had made new progress. It was precisely the time when Yang Dong was needed.

Yang Dong didn't turn on the light either. She groped her way to the dining room, "Can't sleep?"

Jiang Yu extinguished his cigarette and hugged Yang Dong's waist, burying his face between her chest and abdomen, "Humanity is so insignificant, and our thinking is full of limitations.

"If I could upgrade my own brain, I really wish I could give it an upgrade."

They were a long-married couple, and such intimacy had long become the norm.

Yang Dong hugged Jiang Yu's head, "Haven't you already upgraded the brains of humanity once? Even those who had their brains upgraded didn't understand the meaning of the gyro."

She was referring to Jiang Yu's prior national promotion of genetic technologies, which had enhanced human capacities across the board, including cognitive improvements.

Jiang Yu felt the softness of Yang Dong's chest, "At that time, what was improved were learning abilities and adaptability, akin to a hardware upgrade.

"It's only an enhanced thinking capability; what we couldn't think of before, we still can't think of now."

"That's still better than us," said Yang Dong with a smile, "Our brains might not differ much from Einstein's, but they're also not much different from Homo sapiens' brains.

"At least modern humans have better 'hardware facilities' and can have longer-term contemplation.

"If you can't figure it out, let them think about it."

Jiang Yu sighed deeply and was about to nod his head but suddenly, as if he had thought of something, he said, "Wait, Homo sapiens... Einstein... modern people... Homo sapiens..."

Yang Dong immediately realized that Jiang Yu was in a state similar to enlightenment. She slowly stepped back, quietly waiting for Jiang Yu to arrive at his conclusion.

...

11.3 light-years away, within the Unnamed Star System.

The second battle for the gyro satellite had begun, with humanity as the defenders and the Silicon Star People as the attackers.

As soon as the Silicon Star People showed up, Kakari didn't immediately issue an attack order. If they attacked too early, the enemies would immediately retract and continue to hide on the other side of the planet.

Once the Silicon Star People had charged for a while, Kakari saw the right moment. He commanded the human fleet to fly out from behind the gyro satellite and began firing in unison at the Silicon Star People's fleet.

The war was almost a foregone conclusion; the already disadvantaged Silicon Star People's fleet, being on the attacking side, was also completely on the back foot tactically.

The first round of firing had destroyed more than a dozen of the Silicon Star People's warships at the forefront.

But their charge continued, until they were close enough to launch a black light sphere at the gyroscope satellite.

The Galaxy III on Kakari's warship immediately detected that it was a dark matter weapon and reacted within about 0.1 seconds, swiftly creating a miniature gravitational field that caused the black light sphere to deviate from its intended trajectory, missing the gyroscope satellite by a whisker.

According to the "Space Warfare Regulations," under normal circumstances, Galaxy III must obey the commands of the captain and crew.

But in the event of an emergency in which the captain and crew cannot react in time, Galaxy III must make rapid decisions to achieve strategic objectives or ensure the safety of the crew.

The dark matter black sphere was clearly the Silicon Star People's last-ditch effort. After the action failed, they immediately began to retreat.

The subsequent battles became easier, with Kakari's forces hot on their heels.

When only five enemy ships remained, Cao Yang suddenly appeared on the command channel, "Don't rush to annihilate them completely. Follow them closely until they leave the barrier, and then proceed with the final annihilation."

Kakari immediately understood Cao Yang's intention; that barrier seemed to block gravity wave signals, which appeared to be the Silicon Star People's primary means of communication.

So they would wait for the enemy to leave the barrier, giving them time to call for help and report the situation here before proceeding with the extermination.

The Silicon Star People surely wouldn't let the gyroscope satellite fall easily into enemy hands. If their other small fleets attempted to contest it, they certainly could not match the speed of human fleet reinforcements. Cao Yang's forces would be perfectly poised to lie in wait.

If no Silicon Star Person dared to come, there would be no significant loss for Cao Yang's forces.

After all, the net set by the tens of thousands of warships was still in place, not allowing a single Silicon Star Person to escape.

The human fleet had the New Continent Star System for support, while Silicon Star People's homeworld had been destroyed, cowering in flight for half a century without effective resupply of resources.

Victory in this war was surely humanity's.

As for humanity's real-time communication system, thanks must be given to the Trisolarans. If not for the profound psychological shadow that Sophon had left on humanity, they would not have achieved such notable progress in this regard.

Most of the warships had been dispatched to chase the Silicon Star People. Cao Yang's command ship, along with twenty-four warships equipped with Monster Cannons, as well as two escorts and three supply ships, remained in close orbit of the planet.

Not long after the victory was secured, the probes previously launched towards the planet transmitted back the second batch of exploration reports.

Cao Yang glanced over it briefly. "Is this what the gyroscope was guarding?"

This made him even more puzzled. "Send it back to Blue Maiden Star immediately."

...

Blue Maiden Star.

Jiang Yu had barely slept all night; an offhand comment from Yang Dong had sparked a revelation, but he had yet to gather evidence to prove his theory.

So when the expert team reported to him that new exploration reports had arrived from the front lines, he immediately went to the Commander-in-chief's headquarters.

The newly established expert group on the gyroscope civilization also had their office located here. When Jiang Yu arrived at the headquarters, many experts had already hurried over upon hearing the news.

Together, they watched the incoming report, which showed that the probes had discovered some plants on the surface. These plants looked almost indistinguishable from the weathered ordinary stones in the desert, a clumped yellow vegetation.

Their appearance was drastically different from the green plants on Earth. Only after the probes conducted simple drilling was it confirmed that they were indeed plants.

This yellow vegetation had no distinct divisions like roots, stems, or leaves, only aboveground and underground parts.

Because the planet's atmosphere could not block ultraviolet radiation, and its liquid water was quite scarce, these plants had developed a stone-like yellow outer shell. This not only shielded them from harmful rays but also retained moisture.

According to Galaxy III's analysis, the aboveground part of these plants could perform photosynthesis.
