Chapter 1 My Childhood Friend with Logic_2

```
The key was that the original self had a best friend, Logic. No one would have expected that a reclusive and arrogant second-generation official and a nonchalant, childlike king could become friends who confided in each other about everything. Their life trajectories were nearly identical, and after reviewing the original self's memories, Lin Sen couldn't help but sigh, recognizing they both were familiar with and understood the inner loneliness that resided in each other's hearts.
In this world, one is either trivial or lonely.
Logic had once asked Da Shi (Shi Qiang) to find the heroine from his novel in real life and make her his wife. If it weren't for the identity of a Wallfacer, Logic's life might have been quite unremarkable. Fate chose Logic to take that path, and he did, stepping out on the path of humanity's redemption, but who really knows what Logic truly desired?
Those who know me think my heart is troubled. Those who do not know me wonder what I seek.
Though Logic was worldly and skeptical, he fared much better than the original self at muddling through life, at least managing to become a university professor. The original self, equally nonchalant, did not fare as well. After the "Ball Lightning" incident, the Lin family also stepped back from the military's power circles, and the original self lost his privileged life. The following year, the Crisis Era erupted, requiring concentrated control over human resources. In just a few years, without a source of income, the original self grew increasingly dejected.
"I don't care about the fate of humanity, I'll just continue to sink," he said.
Logic and the Lin family had sought him out, trying to get him to pick himself up, but the original self refused. The original self also realized the inevitable fate of the human world in the face of the Crisis Era and seemed to have let go of his attachment to the world, prepared to spend his remaining life in this state.
Reflecting up to this point, Lin Sen didn't know how to judge the original self. One can't wake a person who is pretending to sleep.
Since I've taken over your body, let me relive your life for you! My biggest advantage is having advanced knowledge of the story, hoping this can bring a glimmer of hope to humanity and make up for the many regrets in Trisolaris!
Lin Sen wanted to change the future fate of humanity, to make up for regrets, and for his current self, Logic was the best choice. Many things could only be achieved with the aid of Logic's Wallfacer status.
Logic seemed to have left contact information in the memory, which he had carelessly thrown around in the room; he needed to find it.
The original self's room was in a state of utter disarray, and finding a piece of paper in such a messy room was no easy task. After several hours of cleaning and organizing, he finally found it.
During these hours, Lin Sen also reflected deeply on the plot of the original Trisolaran novel and pondered countermeasures. Perhaps it could no longer be called the original novel, but rather the original timeline, because he was now in the real world.
With Logic's contact information in hand, Lin Sen understood that once this call was made, the world would start to change because of him, and he hoped that he would help humanity secure a sliver of hope for survival.
(The following may be ignored by those who have read Trisolaris)
Trisolaris refers to a three-star system, or the three-body problem as described by Newton, where the movement of three stars forms a chaotic system that cannot be accurately calculated (the three-star problem also involves relativistic perturbations of gravity, which are more complex than Newton's three-body problem).
The closest star system to our Solar System also has three suns, hence Trisolaris, which gave rise to an indomitable and great civilization of intelligent beings, the Trisolaran civilization.
The living conditions of the Trisolaran civilization are extremely harsh, and the development of their civilization is immensely challenging, with the civilization experiencing nearly 200 cycles of destruction and rebirth. Their technology has developed to the point where they can just leave their star system. Faced with the unsolvable problem of Trisolaris and harsh living conditions, they are eager to find a new home and colonize other star systems.
```

At this time, Ye Wenjie, who was working at the Red Coast Base, utilized the reflective gain of the solar troposphere to amplify a signal and sent out the first cry of human civilization into the universe.

This message was received by a Trisolaran observer who warned Ye Wenjie across four light-years not to respond, as a reply would allow for their location to be triangulated, leading to a Trisolaran invasion.

Having led a life full of hardship and having recognized the evils in human nature, Ye Wenjie believed that humanity could not save itself on its own. The lack of a worthy cause plunged her into a spiritual crisis. She hoped to save humanity with the help of the Trisolarans and assist them in taking over this world.

Upon receiving her response, the Trisolarans immediately commenced their interstellar expedition, estimated to arrive in the Solar System in 450 years.

Through contact with the Earth-Trisolaris Organization (abbreviated as ETO, which will be used hereafter), the Trisolarans learned that human technology was accelerating in development. Fearing that human technology might surpass that of the Trisolarans in 400 years, they dispatched Sophons to the Solar System to lock down human scientific progress.

Sophons are ordinary protons that the Trisolarans unfold from 11 dimensions to 2 dimensions, etch circuits onto the two-dimensional surface to transform them into supercomputers, and then shrink back to their original dimensions. Sophons operate at near-light speeds, draw energy in a vacuum, and achieve instantaneous remote communication through quantum entanglement.

The functions of the Sophons are mainly twofold: 1. They replace the target particles in particle collision experiments, blocking humanity's access to micro-particles and stalling the advancement of cutting-edge physics. 2. They surveil all of humanity, leaving no secrets from the Trisolarans in the human world.

The Sophons' blockade on the micro-level ensured that human foundational physics could not progress, and their surveillance was akin to having a full map hack, an advantage so massive that humanity couldn't even muster the will to resist the Trisolarans.

Sophons could also read any book and access the storage information of any computer, meaning humans had no secrets from the Trisolarans. However, the essence of thought occurs at the quantum level, which the Sophons cannot monitor. Human thought remained the only secret humans still possessed.

In the exchange between the Trisolarans and ETO, it was discovered that the Trisolarans had transparent minds, meaning their thoughts would be transmitted to others. Essentially, they did not conceal anything, which also meant they were almost incapable of deceit.

After realizing the differences between them and humans, the Trisolarans began to see humans as poisonous snakes, feared them, and abandoned the ETO. Subsequently, humans became aware of ETO. The commander of ETO, Ye Wenjie, was arrested, The Second Red Bank Base was exterminated by human governments, and a great deal of information about the Trisolarans was obtained.

From this point forward, humanity entered the Crisis Era. In the inaugural year of the Crisis Era, the United Nations Planetary Defense Council (abbreviated as PDC) was established.

In the third year of the Crisis Era, to gain strategic superiority and considering the Trisolarans' lack of cunning and constant surveillance over all humanity, leaving no secrets from the Trisolarans, the PDC staked the fate of humanity on a grand gamble—the Wallfacer Project.

Four Wallfacers were appointed. They did not have to explain their plans to the outside world, could mobilize vast resources to implement their ideas, and were not required to justify their actions, regardless of how incomprehensible they were.

The four Wallfacers were the former U.S. Secretary of Defense, Frederick Tyler; the President of Venezuela, Manuel Rey Diaz; a British neuroscientist, Bill Hines; and a Chinese sociologist, Logic.

The first three Wallfacers were chosen for their outstanding abilities and contributions, whereas Logic was chosen to be a Wallfacer because he had been targeted for assassination by ETO.

As a Wallfacer, Logic, after much struggle, finally decided to indulge in the greatest irreverence for life, using his Wallfacer privileges to find a wife resembling the girl who walked out of his book, father a child, and retreat to live in a secluded utopia. This was the moment when Lin Sen had just crossed over.
