Chapter 4 PDC's Open Conspiracy Part 2_1

"Ye Wenjie sought to reform the human world through the Trisolaran civilization.

Evans had completely lost faith in the human world and wanted to destroy it with the aid of the Trisolaran civilization.

Their true masters were always in their hearts; it was themselves, their ideals, that was their faith, not the Trisolaran Bugs.

So why is Wallbreaking a success for the ETO, but a failure for the Trisolarans?

The PDC had been tirelessly studying the ETO to understand why these people would betray humanity and even themselves to give everything to Trisolaris, including their lives—an idea ludicrous from a utilitarian perspective, yet it truly occurred.

Many of them were highly intelligent elite of humanity.

They encountered too much of society's darkness that often led them to lean towards extreme idealism. They had many demands, and they knew such demands were unattainable.

They could only respond to society in an extreme way. Under normal circumstances, they either collapsed in despair or found a new lease on life in despair, changing themselves to adapt to society.

But when they learned of the Trisolaran civilization,

they were among the first 'contact signatories,' and it had a profound impact on their souls.

Madness, destruction, rebirth… These thoughts occupied their minds,

ultimately leading to one outcome: utilizing the Trisolarans to destroy human civilization, typified by Evans' Adventist faction, who distanced themselves from other humans on their own accord.

Therefore, the ETO's worship of Trisolaris stemmed from the 'contact effect.'

It was not adoration of the Trisolarans; the ETO consisted of people who didn't even believe in other humans, so how could they worship the Trisolarans?

The Trisolarans naively believed that the suffering shown in the Three-Body game would evoke empathy among humans.

This was their reason for joining the ETO, and it's laughable. How could the Trisolarans, having observed the history of human civilization, trust in human empathy?

Possibly they were misled by Evans and others; to say misled isn't quite right—perhaps Evans believed that the Trisolarans had empathy for human civilization; otherwise, he wouldn't have paid such a price to create the Three-Body game.

In this respect, the ETO is also lonely; the gap between them and us keeps widening and evolving, eventually leading to 'group alienation.'

Just like the Wallfacers, they have in some sense ceased to be part of humanity, and are not a human organization that worships Trisolaris. They are a group that wants to scream at the world with the help of the Trisolarans.

You and I have the deepest understanding of loneliness; the ETO is the same,

They are lonely!

They want to speak to this world!

They want to unleash their unyielding outcry!

They want their voice to be heard by every person in this universe!

Moving on to the ETO's Wallbreaking plan, when Wallfacers are breached, the most likely outcome is that the Wallbreakers will come out and reveal everything to the world.

The Wallfacers who have been breached are like the emperor in 'The Emperor's New Clothes'; people can loudly claim he hasn't been breached, but his last shred of dignity has been torn away, and those shouting that he hasn't been breached, in their hearts, believe that he has.

The breached Wallfacer has nothing left; he might not be able to bear it, and humans may truly never believe in him again; his fate is sealed, but the PDC doesn't care. What the PDC cares about is—what don't the Trisolarans care about?

The ETO will have earned the respect of all humanity. Despite being the adversary, humans will still respect them, and this is the ETO's success; their outcry was heard by everyone.

The Trisolarans, due to their fear of strategic plots, believe that sabotaging the Wallfacing project is their victory, but their Wallbreaking only grants the PDC another chance to analyze Trisolaran intelligence, and new schemes are inevitable to emerge, an instinct deep-rooted in human genes.

Never underestimate the PDC of today; it's far more formidable than anyone imagines."

Logic asked somewhat puzzled, "Sophons should be listening in, and our conversation will be known to them. Are you deliberately saying this for them to hear?"

Lin Sen knew that once he said, "they want their voice to be heard by every person in this universe," the Sophons would probably prevent the ETO from hearing the rest of the conversation.

Only the Trisolarans know the terror of having one's voice heard in the universe, and considering what he said earlier about the ETO possibly destroying the Trisolarans and the ETO's true purpose, it's very likely that the Trisolarans wouldn't dare let the ETO continue listening; it would be bad if the ETO truly thought this way.

Lin Sen's goal was to create a crisis of distrust between the ETO and the Trisolarans, even a small seed of distrust would be beneficial.

The Trisolarans had prior offenses in this area; their abandonment of Evans and the Second Red Shore certainly hurt the ETO's feelings, even though the Trisolarans now need the ETO, they can't be without defenses against them, and the ETO is also aware that they're merely the Trisolarans' dogs, but they don't care.

At the current stage, the largest threat to themselves was still the ETO; eliminating the ETO was a key step in Lin Sen's plan.

Lin Sen replied, "Indeed, I am deliberately speaking for them to hear, to reveal the PDC's strategies. If they continue with the Wallbreaking plan, the PDC will gain the information it needs, and who cares about the sacrifice of the Wallfacers.

If they don't execute Wallbreaking, or do it without disclosure, we will continue with the Wallfacing plan.

Who knows their Wallbreaking is certainly accurate?

Who knows how many more plans we have?

In that case, it would be a prolonged silent confrontation, at least the public plans of the Wallfacers are what the PDC needs to do.

The PDC won't lose out in this round.

Certainly, the Trisolarans are still very likely to execute Wallbreaking.

First, it could undermine human confidence, but humans are also forgetful, and such a blow might not really be necessary.
