Chapter 117: Thought Quantum Entanglement_1

Lin Sen once again took the space elevator into space, the construction of the space elevator was fully completed, which was much earlier than the original timeline — human beings were officially qualified to enter space.

The mindset of people in this era was also significantly better, at least humanity wouldn't fall into utter despair due to the inability to make technological breakthroughs and their own inherent contradictions.

This era still had natural disasters, but humanity had already begun to turn towards space, which was nearly a century earlier than the original timeline.

The space elevator's transport time had also been greatly reduced since Lin Sen's hibernation, and within a day, Lin Sen arrived at the Geostationary Space Station.

Leaving the Geostationary Space Station for the Synchronous Spaceport, he took the now-operational unpropellant radiation power transporter, which would reach the Earth-Moon Lagrange Point L1 in six hours.

The non-working material radiation power engine was still in the initial verification process; as a battleship propulsion system, many technologies were still immature, yet it could already be used for transport ships.

Transport ships didn't need high speed, nor could they handle large accelerations. Lin Sen started his journey to the Moon by slowly accelerating to one ten-thousandth of the speed of light over three hours, then traveled at top speed for three hours, followed by three hours of slow deceleration; if traveling at top speed the whole time, he could have reached it in six hours.

The straight-line distance from the space elevator to the nearest Earth-Moon Lagrange point was less than 200,000 kilometers, but ships usually took a curved path there. Otherwise, the closest distance could be reached in four hours, and now travel between Earth and Moon was extremely convenient.

When Lin Sen went to the Moon, he still used the Moon space elevator, which was longer, so it took him a day and a half to arrive.

If there were an emergency en route to the Moon, landing capsules could be used to land. The materials needed on the Moon are much less than those on Earth, which humanity can fully afford. However, transporting large equipment still required the use of the Moon space elevator.

Upon arriving at the Moon, Lin Sen was greeted by many people.

Currently, the Moon Base had reached a semi-independent state, and the human world had not supplied it with any resources for many years.

By the time Rey Diaz was in hibernation, the Moon Base had already achieved self-sufficiency and established a complete industrial system. Now the Moon could develop independently of Earth, as basic materials were no longer reliant on Earth.

Eberth Ramon, currently the true controller of the Moon Base, stated that he could only accept Mr. Lin Sen's leadership. To quickly set up 24 giant reflective mirrors in geosynchronous orbit, Lin Sen went straight to the Moon Base.

The two leading figures included Lin Sen's old friend Marcus, who had aged a lot since they last met, being over fifty years old now.

The other person Lin Sen had seen in the files was Rey Diaz's loyal supporter and Wallfacer Assistant — Ramon.

Ramon was firmly carrying out Rey Diaz's policies and planning on the Moon.

Afterward, Lin Sen entered a secret meeting room with Marcus.

Lin Sen, "I need to understand the whole process of Mister Taylor's discovery of ant-macroelectrons and his sacrifice, as well as your discovery of Mind Quantum Space with Hines. How far has your research come?"

Lin Sen knew that Taylor and Hines must have discovered something, the fact that Hines decided to go directly to the Doomsday Battle indicated that Hines's plan had been completed.

In addition, the fact that Lin Sen was instructed to wake them up after hibernation suggested, if this plan was useful to Lin Sen, the right of use could be transferred to him.

Lin Sen had not yet guessed what Hines's plan was, but it was certainly related to Taylor's death.

Marcus, "Mr. Lin Sen, it is possible that Mister Taylor did not die. Hines has a certain probability of being able to contact him."

Marcus's first words shocked Lin Sen. Initially, letting Taylor continue to research macroelectrons and even anti-macroelectrons was to confirm a certain hypothesis of his own, if successful, it would be another weapon against the Trisolarans. Clearly, they must have made further discoveries.

Lin Sen, "What did you say? Taylor is not dead!

"Could it be... you mean that Mister Taylor voluntarily let himself be struck by Ball Lightning and turned himself into quantum life?

"The key is... you can still make contact with quantum life forms."

Marcus: "Yes, although it's incredible, this world is already so wonderful, with so many things we do not know.

"For example, we know that ball lightning is a macroscopic two-dimensional manifestation of electrons; the objects it strikes become quantized, and there is also the observer effect.

"The observer effect is often used by marketers to mystify quantum mechanics, making it seem esoteric. But we all know this is pseudoscience; the scientific framework we have today has never included the kind of observer effect they talk about."

Lin Sen: "This world might be more sci-fi than we thought, maybe the god that created this world didn't do well in physics and left some bugs! Tell me what you've discovered."

Marcus: "It's indeed like the existence of bugs. Macroscopic life that has become quantum can actually exhibit that kind of observer effect. We suspect that this is not actually the observer effect but rather a phenomenon of continuous quantum entanglement and resonance in thought.

"This is a new physical phenomenon. Quantum macroscopic life exists in macro quantum space. Macro quantum space is the initial definition we gave it; it is different from our real three-dimensional space, and it might be in another dimensional space where it does not transmit electromagnetic force with us—that is, we can neither see nor touch them.

"We call the brain's quantum-level thinking 'thought quantum space'; we'll talk about this later. Thought quantum space can resonate with quantum macroscopic life existing in macro quantum space.

"Taylor entered macro quantum space through ball lightning. Macro quantum space can also be understood as thought quantum space reduced in dimension; under certain conditions, Hines can even contact Taylor."

The above explanation is quite complicated. To put it simply, the thoughts our brain generates occur within thought quantum space (In reality, it's hard to distinguish whether a material is a quantum product or a macroscopic one; there's no strict boundary between macro and micro. To explain the quantum characteristics of thought, the concept of thought quantum space is introduced, and its nature will be explained in the next chapter).

Macroscopic life struck by ball lightning, both their bodies and consciousness, enter macro quantum space directly, and consciousness or thought also exists in macro quantum space. Under certain coupling conditions, thoughts in these two spaces can resonate through quantum entanglement.

Lin Sen: "You could use this kind of thought quantum entanglement resonance to contact the thoughts of Taylor, who is in macro quantum space."

Marcus: "Yes, and this is also thanks to the breakthroughs in quantum computer technology. Over the years, quantum computing has developed rapidly, and with it, the task you originally assigned to me has made significant progress."

Lin Sen: "You mean... Mind Tactility!"

Marcus: "Yes, initially, due to insufficient computing power, research on Mind Tactility could not continue, and we turned to study brain-computer interfaces.

"But we never abandoned our research on Mind Tactility, although I am clear that it could not have succeeded, because the Sophons blocked our quantum-level research; our thoughts also function on the quantum level, so our research in this area might have been locked down.

"But everything changed with the advent of quantum computers. They opened the doors to quantum, making it possible to research Mind Tactility.

"Just ten years ago, Mind Tactility made a significant breakthrough. Through Mind Tactility, we discovered the phenomenon of thought quantum entanglement resonance.

"If two people, whose brainwave frequencies are similar, consistently use Mind Tactility to connect their thoughts, their brainwave frequencies will become more and more similar. We suspect this to be the Trisolarans' mode of thought. When one person generates a thought image, another's brain will also generate a corresponding thought image, and continue to use this thought image for further thinking.

"With prolonged usage of Mind Tactility, thoughts to some extent start to overlap. That is, two people will often experience the same thought images at the same time; we call this the entanglement resonance of thought.

"So, we have a bold hypothesis: if two people are in a state of thought entanglement resonance, and one of them enters macro quantum space, can the other person's thoughts still resonate with theirs?"

Lin Sen: "Just for this hypothesis, Taylor let the ball lightning kill him? You guys are crazy."

Marcus: "According to Taylor, he didn't commit suicide; he changed his form of existence.

"He wanted to observe the wonders of macro quantum space up close; he has been pursuing ball lightning all his life, and he thought that was the best place for him.

"He made many astonishing discoveries in macro quantum space, but what exactly they are, only Hines knows.

"Hines will take this secret to the battle of the doomsday and confront the Trisolarans. However, his last instruction was that if you need this plan, it can also serve you."

PS: The content of this chapter is not based on actual scientific theory, and ball lightning is not a part of scientific theory either. It's just a concept from a science fiction perspective. The author is merely extending this base to derive the concepts of thought quantum space and macro quantum space.

In the next chapter, they will be explained. In essence, they are the same, and the author strives to make the theories in Trisolaris more self-consistent.
