"Senior! Where have you been?" One of the girls wiggled dramatically and stomped her feet in questioning.
That, was enough to piss me off but me being me, I would stay silent.
"Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry. I totally forgot about our session," Miles sighed and facepalmed himself.
The two girls appeared like they were from SS1 considering the length of their skirts under their long sleeves.
"What do you two want?" I questioned them after remembering that I was the head girl.
"Oh Senior good afternoon," They hurriedly greeted. Perhaps they had just acknowledged my presence since they were too busy swaying for a boy I was having a conversation with.
"Senior Miles agreed to put us through chemistry today and we've come to call him to the study hall," The other who seemed a little bit more composed, answered.
"I see," My gaze moved back and forth between them. I couldn't simply punish them on the account of "disrupting a great conversation" that I refused to admit was great.
"Well, that ends it all, Miss?" He stood up to leave and held out a finger in my direction, signifying that he had probably forgotten my name.
I scoffed.
"Just get out."
A smirk went across his face and he went away with the girls who moved to either of his sides, holding him by the arm.
What even was I expecting to happen when talking to a handsome guy like Miles? He was quite popular...
After watching them disappear back into the school building, my eyes went back to the table. His plates were empty alongside the glass that was meant to store his juice but mine had barely gone halfway.
"Oh no," I facepalmed myself. "Chai! Tilda you f*cked up o!"
I had already given him the idea that I was vested into the conversation so much that I had barely touched my snacks.
"That stupid boy," I pumped as I stuffed my face in a hurry. "Whether it's juju he's using sef."
Once I had cleaned the plates and gulped down every drop of juice, I went back to class to see a good number of my classmates indulging in the craziest games of Truth or Dare.
"Wahala," I muttered when I noticed Kiki wasn't one of those involved.
She rested her head on the desk and watched everyone like a newborn baby who was still trying to learn how the world worked.
"Kiki what happened again nau?" I feigned anger as I went to sit next to her.
"What happened?" She looked at me, her movement slow.
"You didn't play?" I asked and she immediately understood what I was referring to.
"For what? I just want to be alone abeg," She threw her face away.
"So I should go abi?" I turned wide-eyed. "No problem o. I will leave."
I made a pretentious attempt to leave when she threw a notebook at my head.
"You're an idiot. Did i mention your name?" She pouted in annoyance.
"Sorry ma," I laughed at how dramatic she was.
"Good girl," She managed to put on a smile and sat upright.
"Something's up. I know when I see you like this," I was serious this time.
She took a deep breath and gazed hard at the desk as if would break open if she continued doing so.
"Tobi apologized," was all she said.
"He did," I didn't sound too surprised. Although, I couldn't tell if it was a question or a statement.
"He did," She sighed. "But, it's all too hard to just accept "friendship"."
"Friendship?" I tilted my head to the side and raised my eyebrows.
Kiki turned her head to me and cupped my face in her palms.
"Tobi friendzoned me. Just like that!" She shook me violently before letting me go. "And you know the craziest thing? He said it so easily like it was so easy to do. Now I just wish that my heart never fell for him maybe I wouldn't have faced such rejection."
"You'll be fine, Kiki. It's just a matter of time. The world hasn't come to an end just because Tobi doesn't feel the same way you do. I be think say you strong pass this one nau," I playfully tapped her across the shoulder.
"I'll be fine. You're right," She slowly nodded. "The world never end."
"That's my girl," I pinched her left cheek lightly.
She laughed. "Let me rest a little. Maybe if I sleep and wake up, I'll feel a lot better."
I nodded in agreement and she rested her head on the desk again but this time, with her eyes closed.
With Kiki now asleep, I felt like the most jobless human being on Earth. There was pretty much nothing that interested me on my phone at the moment and the only thing I could do was avert my gaze to those playing the dreaded game.
"Emma truth or dare?" A girl called out.
"Truth!" Emma responded.
Comments of "weakling" were thrown at him and he didn't mind. Must be one of those "good kids" who didn't want to be dared for something they didn't want to do.
"How many girls have you kissed in this school?" The questioner continued.
"Let me see... 5 I guess," He shrugged. "Not too many."
"Baddest!" His stupid friends hailed him.
I could bet on it that there was barely more than 10% of students in our school that hadn't kissed - Nexus High was full of students that went in and out of romantic relationships at will.
The next person to choose turned out to be a girl and she picked dare.
"Tessy, are you still a virgin?"
"No," Tessy answered, with such profound boldness that I would never get in 10 years to come.
"Ashawo!" Some girls giggled while a handful of others praised her.
When the moment of choosing dare came, I was forced to leave the class - Boys and girls were getting wild and about three girls were already dressed in only their inner wears.
I walked about aimlessly, beginning to wish for the general free period to be over. This specific free period was actually the study period but many students used it for whatever purpose they wished.
And I wasn't ready to read now.
Why exactly was I restless?
By now, Tobi would have come up to me seeing that I was alone but today he wasn't at school.
I decided to venture into my head girl duties, making sure the students remained in their classes and were composed.
Soon, I got the urge to use the restroom.
As I was about to hold down the door knob and step into the first restroom I came in sight.
I heard a familiar voice and that was when I realized that I had accidentally made it into the male restroom. My legs wanted to turn around and head out immediately but then, something made me want to listen to that voice.
"She told you, didn't she?"
I couldn't hear the voice of the person at the other end of the call but I was able to pick all that the familiar voice let out.
"I don't know how it happened. I'm confused."
"Dad, it's alright."
"It shouldn't mean anything. It can't."
"It's... someone..."
"Someone from my class."
"In fact, why do you care now? You never did!"
"Fine! It's this girl from my class and she needed it. Isn't it worth saving someone who has one life and had no joy to it? That's why!"
"You know what? Let's just end this here."
I pressed my ear further against the door when I stopped hearing the voice. The next thing that happened was the door opening suddenly.
I fell on all fours and my eyes went up to the blue eyes that stared back at me, unfazed.
That look...it reminded me of the last part of my dream.
