It's you, Tilda

"It's you, Tilda."

At that moment, I forgot about getting drowned in his eyes and my gaze flew to him.

"M-me..." My lashes fluttered subconsciously. My heart was pounding in my chest.

Could it be what I was thinking?

Did... Miles? Did...he like me?

"Yes, you," He said, causing this strange feeling to come over me.

"I-I..."

He cut me short before I was able to continue my sentence.

"All dreams I have ever manipulated my presence into, I always did it for fun. It was fun to see what people's dreams were like but even though I encountered the owner of the dreams in their dreams, they never remembered me whenever we accidentally met in real life."

I stared at him, not sure where exactly he was heading to any longer.

"But you, Tilda...You remembered," He let out a sigh.

Oh...

It wasn't really anything I thought to be.

How could I even think he liked me? No way, pfft!

"I remembered you but others didn't," I swallowed hard.

"Yes, and it's strange," His gazing turned to peering as his eyes narrowed to slits at me. "I wonder how."

"I don't know how or why I remember but I vividly remember everything that took place in the dream," I twisted my lips.

"Well," He sighed. "It's fine. There's nothing you or I can do to change it."

"Is it bad that I did?" I asked, concerned.

He hesitated for a little while.

"No," He pulled up a half smile. "It's fine. I was just so confused as to how you were able to."

I immediately frowned.

"You got me scared all this while just because of something as unreasonable as that," I scolded him.

He chuckled lightly.

"Finish up so we can head back to class."

"It's just a little. It's not like you've eaten anything from yours," I sneered.

He simply chuckled and began eating. This time, he didn't think before putting the spoon into the mouth. At the end, I finished up before him.

I stood up and picked my empty tray.

"See you later today at the city park where we met for the second time in my dream. 4:00pm?" I raised both eyebrows, with a smile.

"Getting asked on several dates by Matilda Olusegun is crazy," His lips went in an upside down smile.

"You're not serious," I rolled my eyes and walked away.

I didn't know why, but I obeyed the urge to glance back at him and when I did, he was staring.

A pit immediately formed in my stomach when he waved and smiled.

I returned my gaze ahead and laughed to myself.

"What an idiot," I said.

~ AUTHOR'S POV [3RD PERSON POV] ~

She placed a hand over her stomach. It hurt so much.

If only she had paid more attention to it, she would have better stayed at home.

With a shy demeanor, she got on her feet.

"Ma," She softly called out to the teacher who was writing on the board.

The woman turned around to look in her direction.

"Yes?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Please I need to use the restroom," She said in a low tone.

The teacher nodded and the girl slowly stepped out of the class.

Many of the other students in the class had their eyes turned to her as something on the back of her skirt caught their attention.

Her pace, however, increased once she was out of the class. In no time, she was in the restroom.

Following her instincts, she decided to turn her back to one of the mirrors present in the restroom. With her neck craned backwards, she was able to spot the red blotch on her skirt through the mirror.

"Ah!" She exclaimed.

Had anyone seen it too? The embarassment that overwhelmed her was too much for her to even comprehend.

She had started feeling slight abdominal pains in the morning before school but simply took it as the effects of the Egusi soup she had eaten last night. She was one of those girls who never bothered to calculate their menstrual cycle and simply accepted their period whenever it came.

"What do I do now?" She bit her lower lip. "I don't have even 1 naira on me."

She turned to face the mirror and sighed.

Just then, the door of the restroom went open and three girls walked in.

"Tsk tsk, our poor Angel got herself all messed up," The girl in front who had on the shortest skirt length reaching high above her knees, said and rushed to hold the girl named Angel.

"Oh my goodness! It stinks in here!" One of the other two girls, Stella clipped her nose with her fingers and scrunched her face in disgust.

"It's her," The last girl, Funke sneered. Her eyes never left the blotch on the girl's skirt.

"Too bad, Angel," The leader of the girls clique, Bimbo shook her head and ran her fingers down the tip of Angel's loose braids.

Angel froze in a spot. Fear crawled up her skin and she felt inferior before these girls.

"I wonder what Daniel will think after seeing you leave class with all that sticky stuff on you," Bimbo used her hand to fan the air around her nose to express her disgust.

"I'll g-go wash u-up," Angel stuttered. "I'm sorry but I have one favour to ask."

"You really have no shame," Bimbo laughed and turned to her friends. "See this thing o."

"Please," Angel's eyes remained on her floor and she continuously bit her lower lip. "Do you have five hundred naira to spare? I have no money to buy pads."

"Eya you never have money yet you still decide to school in such an expensive school as this," Funke lashed out.

"Don't mind Funke," Bimbo smiled. "I can help you."

Angel's gaze moved to her and she struggled to not put on an expression of relief.

"Really?" She asked.

"Sure," Bimbo nodded and made a signal to Funke and Stella.

The two girls took out a hose each from their school bags.

"I-I don't... understand," Angel took a step backwards once she caught an idea of what they were about to do. No matter how much she felt the urge to hit Bimbo and her friends, she didn't have the courage nor power to. The three of them were obviously stronger than she was.

Funke and Stella connected their hoses to a tap each.

"Just hold still," Bimbo violently grabbed Angel by her braids. "We'll help you out and you'll be all cleaned up for your crush."

Funke and Stella turned on the taps and directed both hose at Angel. Water surged from them and struck the girl who shuddered a little under its touch.

Angel stood still, enduring every spray. They poured the water on her, moving the hose from the direction of her head to toe.

"Ah you smell a lot better now," Bimbo smiled as she took her hand away from Angel's hair and watched on.

A few more minutes had passed and Angel was left alone in the restroom. Her uniform was soaking wet and water dripped from her body to add to the puddle underneath her feet.

Hot tears rolled down her eyes and she cried. She was still feeling abdominal pains and that caused her situation to worsen.

She was still crying when the door of the restroom opened and someone stepped in. It was the head girl, Matilda Olusegun.
