Test scores

~ AMAHLE'S POV ~

The bell had just rung for the close of school. I picked up my notebook from my table and made it out of the student hall.

I started heading back to class to get my school bag and also to meet up with him.

But when I finally arrived at the class, he wasn't there.

"Have you seen Tobi?" I asked Simon.

"No," He answered, his tone showing that he wasn't interested in Tobi's whereabouts.

I hissed and went up to the next person I knew I could rely on for better answers.

"Lola, have you seen Tobi?" I asked the light skinned girl.

"Erm- yes," She nodded. "He left already with Kiki. I saw two of them heading out of class not too long."

"Oh ok," My voice trailed off.

I hurriedly packed my bag and rushed out of the building.

But...Tobi knew that I walked home with him on Thursdays. Why didn't he tell me he had something else to attend to?

Thursdays were usually the days I liked walking back home because Tobi usually did so on such days. He wouldn't bring his car to school on Thursdays, claiming that he needed to keep his body fit.

And...it was really nice walking with him because it made me forget in that moment the kind of life I lived at home.

Tobi and I had started out as friends. We were nothing more than that but as time went on, I started developing feelings for him.

He didn't know and probably still thought of me as a friend. For now, I wasn't ready to tell him but I would one day.

I was quick enough that I spotted him and Kiki heading for the large school gates. They were talking and laughing.

My legs came to a halt as I watched their backs.

Was this how it felt to like someone that whenever you see them with someone else, you suddenly feel jealous?

"I'm fine," I shut my eyes for a moment, trying to get a hold of my breath.

I silently continued my walk from a distance behind them. They, however, disappeared across the road before I could make it out of the school gates.

I stared across the road, feeling down. Now, I didn't feel like walking again.

I waved my hand at a cab and it stopped.

"Wuse II," I sighed and immediately got in after the driver relayed the price to me.

~ TILDA'S POV ~

"Good day class!" The Physics teacher greeted.

"Good day sir!" We responded with the same energy.

"Your first test results are out and I must say, a lot of you did well while only a few failed to meet up to my expectations. Anyways, there is always room for improvement," He said. "I will call your names and you will come up and receive your papers."

"Ejike Okafor."

A slim tall boy walked up to the teacher from his seat to take his test paper. He looked at the sheet and a broad smile spread on his lips.

Questions of "What did you get?" Bombarded him from his friends.

"46 out of 50!" He exclaimed with so much joy.

"Kiki Adeola," The teacher called next.

Kiki got up and went to take her test sheet from the man. When she looked at the paper, a smile came on her face and she danced her way back to our seat.

"What did you get?" I winked and craned my neck to get a glimpse of the score written in red pen on her paper. It was a 42.

"Who dey?" She cheered herself on with so much excitement that got me laughing.

"Samson Abuchi," The teacher continued.

"Mariam Ogechi."

"Mirabel Ojo."

"Lola Fejiro."

"Chimo Chukwu."

"Miracle Ojo."

When it reached Tobi's turn, all eyes were on him that he had to turn his paper for all to see. It was a 49.

"Boss!" Some boys chanted in admiration.

Other girls praises him and his friends did so as well.

"Miles Wesley."

Hearing that name, my eyes instantly went to the blue-eyed boy who went up to take his sheet.

I wonder what he scored.

Finally, my name was called.

I took my sheet to see that it was a 46. My lips twisted and my eyes met with Tobi's.

When it came to academics, he was my arch enemy.

He poked a red tongue at my and I pointed my index finger at him which meant, "You ehn."

"My baby you finished work again," Kiki smiled as soon as I showed her my score. "Give me a high five."

Our hands went against each other and we giggled like toddlers.

"And that's all for now. I look forward to seeing how every one of you makes even more progress in your 2nd test. I wish you all the best of luck ladies and gentlemen!" He said after calling a few more names.

With that, he left us to a noisy class as everyone showed one another their test scores.

Just as I was busy reading a twitter post, a message notification flashed on my phone.

"Wanna see what I got on the test? I'm heading to the school roof now."

- MR. SASSY RUDE/LIL NICE BLUE EYES.

"This guy can't be serious," I muttered to my self and released a small chuckle.

"I'll be back," I said to Kiki who was busy watching instagram reels.

"Mm," was all she said and I left for the roof. I didn't know why I wanted to go meet him but I wanted to.

Miles sat on one out of the two benches there, seemingly deep in thoughts. The constant clicking of my shoes against the floor was what brought him back to reality.

"You really came," He laughed heartily.

I frowned. "What's that supposed to mean?"

I then moved to sit beside him. Well, I made sure there was a safe distance between the two of us.

"Let me see your score jor," I playfully tapped him on the shoulder.

He said nothing else and handed the paper over to me. It was a 47.

"Hmmm you did well," I looked at it briefly before giving it back to him.

"You?" He asked.

"I got a 46," I released a small chuckle. "You're just a point smarter this time."

"I'm glad you acknowledged that," He smiled and gave a gentlemanly bow.

"Well..." My voice trailed off, not knowing what else to say.

He seemed to be in the same situation.

"I hope you're good," I finally spoke.

"Mm I am. Thanks," He managed on a smile.

"Mm," I nodded and looked down at my hands resting on my thighs. "I guess I should have been the one saying thank you."

"For what?" He raised both eyebrows.

"For giving me a hand when I was weak," I looked back at him, holding his gaze for longer than I had planned to.
