Karl's eyes nearly welled up with tears upon seeing his white-haired best friend after so long. Despite the overwhelming emotions, he couldn't find the words to say.

"I know. I'm sorry for disappearing without a trace," Ian said.

Karl covered his mouth, trying to hold back a sob.

"Well, I watched all your matches from the shadows and supported you," Ian chuckled awkwardly before his tone turned serious. "Now, listen closely. I don't have much time."

He began explaining the situation from his side. "The Chief has solid evidence linking you to the death of Lady Treypin. He found the ring I gave you."

Karl broke into a cold sweat as he remembered leaving the ring in Lady Treypin's hands.

"B-But I didn't kill her! It was a strange male vampire, a different one. Even I had never seen him before," Karl protested.
