Cat Girl

Angel's POV*******

I got home tired as heck.

I purposely didn't tell Sam that his house was the same distance as my house and the school.. but the opposite direction. That took me double the time I normally use.

Still, it was worth it.

Silly boy.

I giggled. I could still picture his peaceful face when I tried to wake him up.

The same guy that told me to never ever touch him

I've found myself warming up to him.

I guess I have to start respecting his personal space.

It looks like it bothered him a lot.

But still... The feeling of his arms wrapped around me... The sensation was still there.

I just wished he'd be more free...

Though, from what my crazy mind tells me, he might be more free to me than to all his friends combined.

"Angel? What took you so long?" My mom asked as I walked in.

I panted "I offered someone a ride. His house is really far. It's double the distance between school and here"

My mom smiled "Oh, you poor thing. You can have some juice in the fridge"

Thanks mom. But what I really want right now, is some chilled soya milk!

My friends hated it when I made them to try it and puked it out when they tried it.

But, hey! It's heaven.

I opened the fridge, hoping to find some soya milk, but there wasn't any.

I sighed. What a weird day I just had.

A very crazy day.

"How was school?" Mom asked.

I just sat down and sighed.

I poured myself a glass of juice and gulped it down.

"The usual, just a little messed up..."

My mom cocked her head to the side "Oh?"

I shrugged "Yeah, I met Samuel Lenard"

My mom gasped "No way! The Samuel Lenard?! The one bagging all the awards in your school?"

I snapped "At least I bag the maths award!"

My mom ignored me "What was he like? Are you friends?"

I thought about it for a while and replied her "He was like... A cold room... More like the North pole... And I don't think I'm his friend... My first impression wasn't so good..."

My mom pouted "You never fail to disappoint me, huh? How could you ruin your first impression?!"

"Let's just say, I threw myself on him and he's not a physical contact person..."

My mom looked shocked then shook her head.

"How I got a child like you, I still don't understand"

I grinned "You know you love me"

My mom raised a brow "Do I?"

I laughed "Yes, you do"

"Off with you, you little scamp!"

I laughed and ran off with the carton of juice in my hands

"Where are you taking the juice to?! Hey!"

Yeah. That was pretty much my own version of a perfect life.

Just my mom and me...

The perfect family.

We didn't need anything more... Or less...

Except of course...

"Sparky!! Hey boy!" I greeted the medium sized dog in my room.

I saw him jump when he saw me.

He started licking me and I laughed.

"Okay, okay. I missed you too"

He started making sounds as though he was talking to me.

I dropped my bag and sat on my bed.

"Don't fret, pup. I just dropped someone off"

Sparky climbed my bed and rested his head on my lap.

"I'm tired too, boy" I said and laid my head down after taking a large gulp from the orange carton.

"Sparky, what did I tell you about leaving your white fur all around my room?!" I said with voice rising.

Sparky got the signal and jumped off me.

"Oh no, you don't, you over grown snowball! I told you to go outside to shed your fur! Not here!"

Sparky just shook his head and started dodging my hands

I finally caught him and ruffled his hair.

"Angel! Are you playing rough with the dog again?"

Sparky and I immediately separated and acted like everything was normal.

In less than a minute, my mom walked in to find me reading, and the dog was sleeping

"Okay, Sparky. Time for your bath"

Sparky pretended to yawn and walked out after giving me a cheerful bark.

Yes! Life was complete.

Sparky was like a brother to me. Always have, always will be.

We were like twins. He must probably be the same age as me in human years.

When dad died, I felt so vulnerable and weak.

I ran away from the ‘sympathetic’ guests and sat near an uncompleted building and tried to stop my tears, but I failed miserably.

I heard a whimper and my ears twitched.

Then I saw him.

A tiny stray pup with the dirtiest coat I have ever seen and the biggest eyes.

He crept closer to me and I let him climb unto my lap, and he licked my cheek.

I hugged him and poured my heart out.

I brought him home and my mom told me that we could keep him

I swear, that dog is smarter than Einstein himself!

It was like he was already a programmed robot.

And he understands humans and their culture perfectly!

I don't know about the writing though, but reading was a total breeze for him.

My dog was the best!

I named him sparky because, I just felt the spark between us.

Haha. Dumb right?

Shut up. What do you know about my life??

...

Probably everything...

Bringing myself back from a tragic past, I brought my hands up to my face and groaned.

Why does Sam make me feel... Like a freak?

Well, that's cause I am but... He makes me feel like I'm extra weird... In the sense that I'm even hurt...

Maybe I should just be normal around him.

Richie said I should stay away from him.

"Don't go near my man"

That wasn't what she said but, meh, she could've put it like that, right?

No! I'm not going to give up so easily!

I will pave my way into this boy's life. He will finally open up!

After all, it's pretty much been my dream to melt the heart of a cold hearted CEO.

Sam was no CEO, but he could be my test subject. I could use him for a drill to prepare myself for my real dream CEO hottie.

I can just drool..

I get into the bathroom to shower and change.

I cuddled close and 20 mins later, I felt something fuzzy cuddle next to me.

I muttered "Goodnight, Spark"

Goodnight Sam...

I promise you. I'm really going to boil you alive.

And then you'll realize that shutting the world out is just killing yourself.

I'm going help you...

By boiling you

... Alive

~~~
I wake up to the smell for dog breath.
"Sparky, back off"
I threw a pillow at him but he dragged me by my clothes.
I heard my mom's voice from the door
"Seriously, Angel. Even a dog wakes up earlier than you. How lazy can you be? Anyway, you're late for school so you can forget..."
Late?!
I jumped off like my pants caught fire and ran straight to the bathroom.
I came out in 3mins. That should be my record time!
I quickly freshened up and got ready for school.
I grabbed my breakfast to go and sped off like lightning McQueen.
I checked my watch for the time, then realized that I had forgotten my watch!
Dang it!
I dashed into the school halls and ran to my class.
It was empty.
What the??
I checked all other classes.
Empty.
The halls
Empty.
My...
My mother lied to me!!!
I was sulking and whining about what a liar my mom was and then I heard a voice.
"C-cat girl?"
I turned around sharply. I saw Sam cover his mouth with his hand and I narrowed my eyes. Then...
~~~

Sam's POV*******

I woke up a bit late today. I was dreaming of her... Of meeting her today...

She was holding my hand. Hugging me... I couldn't help but melt in her embrace.

She was... She was...

"Ugh.."

My alarm clock woke me up.

She was... A dream.

I quickly freshened up for the day, had breakfast in my room because I wanted to avoid any talk with my parents.

I read a bit before I headed for school.

For some reason, I really wanted to see her in school, even though it was earlier than usual.

7:45am...

Horrible... but not too bad.

I was a bit happy and surprised when I saw her. Whining out loud.

I suddenly blurted "C-cat girl?"

I clasped my hand over my mouth.

Why would I call her that?

Was I stupid? Why would I do that?

Did she hate me now?

Why? Why? Why???

I looked at her and saw her expression.

She narrowed her eyes and my heart pounded in fear.

Then...

She laughed

She laughed?

She laughed!

I could feel blood rushing up to my cheeks. Her laugh was so cute

It would probably be the number one sound I'd have on my playlist

It was the most beautiful thing I had ever heard.

She wiped her tears from laughing too much, when she was done

"Hiya, Sam. Why are you so early?" She asked.

"I just wanted to read a bit"

"Don't you do that every time?" She asked with a snort.

I rolled my eyes "No. I don't read all the time"

She snorted "Yeah right. You could never last a week without reading, I'm sure"

"What?!" I snapped.

That wasn't true... I think.

"It's totally true! Everytime I see you. It's always about books. Never have I heard you say something so interesting!"

I winced at the weight of her words. Was she right?

"You need to cut yourself some slack dude. And also everyone else"

I looked up at her "What do you mean, everyone else?"

She raised a brow "Dude, you bagging the number one position is no big deal, but you bagging the number one position and then leaving a wide gap for the number two... It's just sad"

I looked at her with confusion written all over my face.

"You don't get it? What was your monthly average score last month?" She asked

"96... Why..."

"And the person that came as number two got 89. See the gap difference? You're perfectly fine, Sam. No need to overwork yourself."

I gazed into her eyes. Her empty dark eyes

... I got lost trying to find the bottom of those deep poles.

"Sam? Sam! So, you wanna bet?" She asked

I shook my head to wake me up from my daze

"Uhm. Yeah sure"

The bet was to relax for a whole month.

"A month?! What will I be doing for a month?!" I screamed.

She covered her ears "Aye. I don't know! Think about it yourself"

I wasn't going to let her get away with this

"I-I have a bet for you too... If... You... You have to... You have to..."

Dang it. I didn't have a dare for her.

She smirked "I can see that you want to even this out so I'll give myself a dare too. I have a month to melt your ice cold heart"

I was taken aback. Did she really give herself that dare? She really wasn't joking when she told me I had a challenger.

I liked her, yes, but making me care again? That's a little too much, even for a fairy tale. I had really gone far. Far deep into the unknown. And it was my resting place. My comfort zone.

I smirked "Deal. One month to get me to open up again and one month for me to have some fun. And if I lose, you can do anything with me, but if you lose, you stay away from me. Sound good?"

It sounded good to me.

Pfft. As if I would waste my time caring for people again. What a jo...

It was like time paused for me... The feeling of her hand in mine. She shook my hand firmly to confirm the deal but we didn't let go just yet... I didn't want to... I wanted to hold her hand forever. She leaned in closer and my heart raced wilder than ever.

"Wanna head out after school?" She whispered.

I nodded dumbly and she giggled.

We started talking about the dumbest things like, memes and jokes and how birds are better than cats but not better than snakes.

She was crazy.

We didn't know how much time had gone by. People were filling the halls.

I realized that I was still holding her hand. It just felt natural... To hold her... Her touch just felt natural...

I was laughing at a joke, when I saw Richie walk towards us.

Her hand suddenly slipped out of mine.

What... What was wrong? Why did she do that?

She ran and wrapped her hands around Richie. I almost wished that was me.

"Baby!" She squealed and Richie smiled,but I could tell it was a forced smile.

Richie waved and beamed a smile at me... A true smile.

I paused, then I waved back.

Cat girl nudged my arm "Are you caring? Looks like you will be giving me a piggyback"

What?! That's what she wanted to do with me?!

I glared at her and she chuckled.

"I'll see you later, Sam" she said and walked away.

I was aching to pull her close and hug her. To just... Hold her and take in her scent that smelt like relief!

Maybe kiss her too... On the cheek... Just... Maybe...

I saw Richie walk up to me.

I smiled and turned away.

She called after me "Wait, Sam!"

I snapped "I'm heading to class. I have things to do"

It was a lousy excuse but I went anyway.

I sat on my desk and brought out a note.

I was busy reading and jotting down some important points from a textbook when I totally got sidetracked.

Her body as soft as a pillow.

I want to cuddle her all day.

Her scent, she smells like heaven.

And her light like rays of mid day.

If anyone were to bring clouds.

She would chase them all away.

With eyes so deep it's hard.

To turn away from my cat girl's gaze.

Cheesy...

Wait...

One

Minute...

Ahhhhhhhh!

No! No!! No!!!

This can't be happening! I'm...

I'm....

I'm in love with cat girl and I STILL don't know her name!!!

What's my problem!?

I had more than an hour to ask her for her name, but I didn't.

I'm so stupid!

And did I just write a poem about her?

What the...

"Hey, bud"

Ah!

I slammed my book shut.

I nervously turned to Oliver.

"H-Hiiii?" I failed at my attempt to sound usually cold, convincing and non-suspicious.

"What was that?" He asked

"What was what?" I retorted trying to seem cool, calm and collected

"Don't play dumb. What were you just hiding?" He scoffed

"What? Oh this? It's nothing!" There goes all my effort.

Good job, Sam. You did a marvelous job in keeping your cool.

"It's um... It's... I missed a question and I don't want people to see me...Fail ..."

He squinted his eyes suspiciously and I gulped.

Then, he suddenly laughed.

"Really Sam? Just one question?! There are some students in Class C that are getting grades lower than a D and are flaunting it like it's their greatest achievement!"

I let out a deep breath. He bought it.

So... Wait... Cat girl was in Class C right?

So... She is also an average student?

Wait... No... Class C students are worse than average. They are outright dumb.

Still, it made me wonder, was cat girl also as stupid? I needed to know about her academic performance.

I needed to find out.

I saw Richie come towards us and she beamed "Hey, boys"

We both waved and she was about turning away when a lightbulb clicked.

"Richie, wait!" I called her.

She turned around, a bit surprised.

I sighed, "Umm... Can I talk to you..."

I saw her cheeks heat up. She was blushing.

I turned to Oliver and asked him wordlessly for permission. He nodded and left.

Richie filled in the space left by Oliver, next to me.

"So... Um..." I started out blank.

Gee, way to go, Sam. Way to turn off that bulb. Let's go right ahead and ask 'Is cat girl smart?' I'm sure she'll know who exactly that is.

"Your... Baby..." I muttered with a deep blush on my cheeks.

She looked utterly confused.

"Baby?"

"I mean... Your... Annoying friend..." I corrected.

I could see her mood dropped. She had a look of You called me to talk about her?

I mean, duh! Who else? Your grandma?

"Oh, you mean..."

I waited eagerly to hear her name. What would it be? It would probably be sweet, or weird or... Odd... Or crazy.

My ears perked up.

"Baby!"

My head snapped.

What the...

Cat girl?!

What an annoying girl! Such enemies of progress. It was all for the sake of knowing her name.

Cat girl flung her arms around Richie and kissed her cheek. I just turned away, slightly uncomfortable.

"Hi Sam" she smiled. I didn't see her cute dimple, but her smile still gave me butterflies

"H-hey..." I greeted back.

She wiggled her brows "You also want a kiss on the cheek?"

I snapped, my cheeks flushed "No!!!"

She chuckled "JK"

My face was still vividly red. I didn't have the guts to tell her that I did, infact, want her to kiss me...

She and Richie talked for a while before she left.

Richie turned to me with a big smile. She had no dimples...

I sighed with my cheeks a bit red "Nevermind..."

She opened her mouth to speak, but changed her mind.

She reluctantly left and I groaned inwardly.

I guess I'll have to stick with Cat girl...
