Chapter 3

Freddy cleared his throat. "I will go first in introductions as well" Freddy said, making it clear he was using their agreement to his advantage. Lionel rolled his eyes. "Whatever you say, dude" Lionel said, as Freddie made his way to the girl. The crowd of girls parted slowly curious as to where he might be going. Freddie. stood up tall and messed with his hair nervously. Finally, reaching the girl. The crowd gasped in shock as he sat next to her. Out of all the girls, why did he pick her? The girls didn't seem to notice him as she was completely absorbed into her book. So he just sat with her in silence for a little bit before he cleared his throat. "So…" Freddie began laughing nervously. "What's your name?" He asked the girl. but she was still very absorbed in her book and ignored him. Since she didn't seem to respond he took a more direct approach. He decided to move a small amount of her light brown curly hair behind her ear. Her hair was so soft and smelled like strawberries.

That definitely got our tension, but not in the way Freddie wanted it to. She jumped up and was shocked. She swung around to face him. She stood and furiously pointed her finger at him. "Don't touch me! Just leave me alone!" She yelled at him, everyone gasped in shock again. She just yelled at the very popular newbie! Her friend followed her swiftly. Freddie was confused. What did he do wrong? It's not like she was responding to him. How else was he supposed to get an answer?

The girl got away from everyone. She found a nice, small clearing, and the tree is her favorite place. She sat down and tried to calm her beating heart. Her face was flushed and she couldn't stop thinking About how the popular guy was actually interested in her. She cursed under her breath forgetting her book, but decided it didn't matter anyways. Crunch. Crunch The sound of the wrestling bushes was heard as she leapt up and prepared to fight with a stick she grabbed from the ground.

"I thought I'd find you here." A familiar voice sounded. She breathed a sigh of relief and dropped the stick immediately. She hugged her best friend. Tears started to run down her cheeks. Her friend stroked her hair like one would a cat. "Shhh.. It's okay Anna," her friends consoled "Why the long face Anna?" Her friend asked whenever she stopped crying. " Ohh. Amelia. I- I-" Anna stuttered trying to explain why she did what she did. Amelia gave her that all too knowing look. " I was there. Why did you tell him that? I thought you liked him. You've definitely made an interesting first impression, that's for sure." Amelia chuckled. Anna glared at her before she sighed in defeat. "I don't know what I'm going to do." She pouted, releasing her hold on Amelia. Amelia understood her troubles and chuckled again. Never a dull moment with Anna around. "Hey. It's not like you yelled at the most popular guy in front of the whole school or anything.. Oh wait, you did." She stated, smiling when her friends seemed to lose whatever hope she had. Amelia suddenly got an idea. She gave her friend a mischievous look. Anna I knew that face all too well "Ohh no! Oh no! no, no. No! I already know what you're thinking, and it's not gonna happen!" Anna's stated clearly not approving of whatever concoction Amelia was thinking about.

Amelia frowned Anna. "But you haven't even heard what I had to say." She pouted to Anna sighed in defeat. "Alright, What is it this time.?" Anna asked Amelia perked up when Anna relented. Freddy couldn't believe it. She stormed off! Why was she so mad at him? He sat there on the fountain, gawking at the last place he'd seen her go in disbelief. Lionel chuckled at him in satisfaction. He felt a pang of sympathy, but quickly dismissed it, not wanting to show any emotion towards his rival. "Well, I guess I've already won. Your flirting was horrible." Lionel stated. "I haven't given up just yet." Freddie huffed in anger. He didn't like losing. "You heard her, man. She doesn't even want you to be around her. I mean, she ran away from you! Ran away!" Lionel complained, "Fine." Freddie grumbled.

Freddie clearly was not liking that he had to let Lionel have his chance so soon. Lionel beamed, pumping his fist into the air In triumph. "Yes!" He shouted. The crowd had finally dispersed. Lionel was practically dripping with happiness. The score was now tied in his mind. Lionel one, Freddie one. The gossip of today's events was already going around.

"did you hear?"

"Yeah, I heard that girl got both of the popular guys to compete for her."

"She's so lucky."

"I can't believe she yelled at him"

"Yeah, but he actually touched her."

Amelia walked with Anna since she was too embarrassed and nervous to walk alone. Everyone was staring at her and talking about her, trying to figure out what those boys saw in her that they didn't see in the other girls. Amelia squeezed Anna's hand for reassurance. "Don't be nervous. Remember what we talked about yesterday?" Amelia asked Anna.

~ Flashback.~

"All right, Anna, the first thing we need to do is continue what you started. This is going to test him, if he truly wants you.. he will one; keep going after you, two; get someone else to try and get you jealous, or three; if he's smart and respects the remark you made.. he'll wait for you... Just don't go out with another guy, okay?" Amelia asked Anna. Anna nodded an agreement.

Lionel looked at Freddie. "Which girl are you pursuing anyways?" Lionel asked Freddie, raising one eyebrow in a curiously oblivious way. Freddy finally snapped out of his gawking and baffled state. He looked at Lionel confusedly, "Wait a minute. Are you being serious?" Freddie asked. He sighed "that brown headed girl I was just talking to. The one that ran away." Freddie mumbled just loud enough for Lionel to hear. Lionel scoffed in amusement. "Seriously? You're interested in the bookworm!?" he shouted, bursting out, laughing.

Freddy's face turned red as he blushed." Well, yeah, but so are you." Freddie said, trying to make a comeback. Lionel chuckled again "No way. I'm interested in the cutie that was sitting next to her." Lionel admitted proudly. Freddy breathed a sigh of relief. "That's great. I honestly thought that we'd have to fight again, this time for the same girl." Freddy said "I did too. I am so glad that it doesn't have to come to that." Lionel replied, the two left together for a minute. It was a relief not to be fighting again. Principal G might like the action and At least most of the crowd agreed but not everyone liked fighting all the time. Freddie smiled at Lionel. "You know you're not so bad." Freddie said. Lionel smiles back at Freddy." Yeah. And you're not so bad yourself, dude." Lionel replied, throwing his arm over Freddy's shoulder.

Amelia got up from the ground and pulled Anna along with her. "Just look at this way. At least you know you've made a long lasting impression." Amelia said, trying to look at the bright side of this situation. Anna scoffed at Amelia, clearly unamused. "Yeah, I'm sure having the whole school knowing I just yelled at the most popular guy is really the impression I wanted to last. I'll never hear the end of that gossip." Anna complained, mumbling just loud enough for Amelia to hear. Amelia giggled "then I guess we'll just have to change their minds." Amelia said with a smile.
