Dilemma.

Dominick's POV

What the fuck!

My eyes widened in shock as Luna bolted out of the study, the door slamming shut behind her. I swiftly withdrew from Selene, hastily tucking my dick back into my pants.

"What the hell," Selene whined, sliding off the table. "Why did you pull out?"

"Shut it and leave," I snapped, my tone harsher than intended.

"Are you really kicking me out because of Sol?" Selene's voice was laced with disbelief.

"Get out!" I pointed at the door, my hands instinctively running through my hair in frustration. "Now!"

Selene adjusted her dress, her eyes lingering on me for a moment before she hurried out of the study.

Deep down, I knew Selene was right. Normally, I wouldn't have cared if it were any other woman, but Luna was different. I hated this feeling of being swayed by her.

Her hurt expression flashed through my mind, and I started to move towards the door, but something held me back. It was better this way, I told myself. I shouldn't let this bother me or sway my decisions.

Decision made, I went back and sat on my chair. I picked up my phone from the desk, but there were still no new updates about Sol. Last night, she had called and told me she was in danger, but that was all she managed to say before the line suddenly went dead.

This situation was the reason I called Selene. I needed a distraction, but now I felt like a complete asshole. Finding Sol was crucial, not just for her safety, but also to get Luna out of my life for good.

Later that evening, I came downstairs for dinner, unsurprised to find Luna was absent. Of course, she was furious, and I knew it was all my fault. Maria brought some juice and placed them in front of me with more force than necessary.

I placed my fork gently on the table and looked at her. "Is something wrong, Maria?"

"Of course not, why? Did I do anything wrong?" She furrowed her brows, trying to feign ignorance, but I could detect a hint of sarcasm in her tone.

"Just forget about it," I shook my head slightly before dismissing her.

She was probably acting up because of Luna, and I didn't have the strength to deal with her right now.

After a few minutes, I finished my dinner and went to the living room to relax on the couch. I saw Nina pass by and thought about asking her if Luna had eaten dinner, but I changed my mind.

Finally, Alen strode into the living room. I had been waiting for him. I sat up, impatient. "So, any news?"

"No boss, they're still searching for her," he replied, taking a seat on the couch across from me.

"They can't find Marcus, they can't find her. What the fuck can they find? Useless! They're all useless," I snapped, frustrated with the situation. Why couldn't my men find these people? Why were they slacking?

Alen sighed, leaning forward. "Take it easy, Dom. You're stressed right now. Let's give them time; I'm sure they'll locate her," he tried to reason, but I was done waiting for these incompetent men.

"Let's not forget, there's the annual dinner party being hosted by the Ronaldos tomorrow night."

"Fuck!" I raked a hand over my hair, frustrated. "I totally forgot about that."

The Ronaldos were one of our allies, a powerful Mafia family in New York. I couldn't afford to decline their invitation.

"I'll tell Ron to beef up security. Some people might try to attack tomorrow because you'll bring Luna along with you."

Of course, I had to bring her. Playing a couple with her was getting harder by the day.

I stood up. "Alright then, I'll go inform her."

After dismissing Alen, I went straight upstairs to Luna's room. I paused at the door, deciding to knock for the first time. It just didn't seem right to barge inside anymore; it felt weird.

"Come in," her tiny voice invited me in, and I entered to see her sitting in front of the mirror, combing her hair.

I closed the door behind me and walked over to her. She glanced at me through the mirror, and I could see a mix of emotions in her eyes—resentment, hurt, and maybe even a hint of longing.

"I need to talk to you," I said, trying to keep my tone neutral.

She set the comb down and turned to face me, lowering her gaze to the floor. "Alright."

I took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "The Ronaldos are hosting their annual dinner party tomorrow night. We have to attend, and I need you to come with me."

She raised an eyebrow. "You want me to go with you to a party?"

I nodded. "Yes, it's important for our image. The Ronaldos are powerful allies, and we can't afford to offend them."

She studied me for a moment, as if trying to gauge my sincerity.

"It will be safe, don't worry. I'll make sure of it, " I added, trying to clear any doubts.

"Fine, I'll go. But don't expect me to act all lovey dovey," she muttered under her breath.

I nodded, stifling a laugh . "I don't expect you to. But please, try to behave civilly. We can't afford any drama tomorrow night."

She sighed and stood up, walking over to the bed to pick her phone up. "I'll do my best."

I watched her for a moment, feeling a twinge of guilt for dragging her into this mess. But there was no turning back now. Sol was missing, and I needed Luna's cooperation to stay in power.

I started to leave, but something made me pause. "Have you eaten dinner?" I asked, turning back to her.

She looked at me, a hint of surprise in her eyes. "No, but you don't need to bother. I can take care of myself."

Nodding my head, I turned to leave, but she stopped me. "Is… that all?" she asked, her voice tinged with sadness. "Do you have nothing else to say to me?"

I kept a bland expression, trying to keep my tone neutral. "I don't know what you're talking about, Luna. Stop getting weird ideas. I'm not interested in you."

She looked hurt, and for a moment, I felt a pang of guilt. "I'm not.. interested in you," she said softly. "I'm sorry for bothering you."

Sighing, I opened the door. "It's fine. Just be ready for tomorrow night."

I left her room, feeling a mix of emotions. Guilt, frustration, and a hint of something else I couldn't quite place. But there was no time to dwell on it. Tomorrow night would be crucial, and I needed to focus on the task at hand.
