First Duel

It was impossible for anyone in this underground facility to know whether it was morning or night, but things still continued the way it always had.

Adam was taken out of his white room into another chamber in the underground facility. It was a training ground with different weapons, gadgets and accessories. It was a mordern style combat suite.

"From now on, you're called Zero. You'll have to prove your loyalty to the organisation if you want to claim your seat at my level. First I will access your fighting capabilities."

A man about 5 feet tall said. He was John Trevol, the training officer, or the head if I may say. This was Adam's first training, so he wasn't really expecting much from him.

!!!

This was crazy to believe. To win a training practice against a professional isn't no small feat. "With my level 1 stats, I can't even land a blow. It's gonna be hard then."

Adam thought as much as he took his stance on the combat circle. His two hands were moved forward for fast hits and he mantained balance on both toes.

"Not a bad stance for a quadriplegic...I mean a former at that. Let's see what you got, Zero." John said with a smirk. He was astonished by Adam's pose, like he knew how to fight.

"Arrrrhhhh!"

Adam spared no time in executing an attack with his bare fist. His arm drawn back and released like a spring was inpromptu to John, but he really didn't need to defend it.

Banngg!

The heavy blow finally landed on John's hard chest with a bang. To Adam's suprise, John didn't move an inch. Instead, he was sent flying back.

"Sorry Zero. I forgot to tell you about my passive skill called rebound effect. It helps me reflect an attack back to its instigator. Do you like it?"

Adam now understood what really happened a while ago. John's rebound effect was a real deal passive skill, which returned an attack while dealing him 20% of its damage. The real damage done is always cancelled to minimum, thereby making its result negligible.

"That's a convenient skill to have in time of danger. Superhumans are quite impressive to think of." Adam said to himself as he got ready to launch another attack.

Boom!

Adam was stupified by this next move by John. He repeated the same attack as Adam with wa much dangerous breath.

Bang! Boom!

Both of them collided, but Adam suffered more damage due to impulse and some other effect which caught him by suprise.

"Hard one there. I think you suffered from my passive talent, Karma. It copies any attack dealt on me plus my rebound effect and a double effect. You must be exhausted. Take a break."

John said before exiting the training room. It wasn't that easy to find someone worthy as a level one.

"So much for a training. That was like killing a puny ant. It's good I'm still alive and kicking." Adam continued to curse while trying to get up on his feet whe he finally received something.

Ding!
