"Halt!" one of the knights commanded, his voice echoing through the cavernous halls of the temple. "In the name of the Holy Order, you are commanded to surrender yourselves."
Knowing that they would be playing right into the demon's hands if he did nothing, Xin Ming swiftly commanded the system to display the combat power analysis of the holy knight order. "System, show me all of their stats"
[As you wish, host]
After a momentary pause, the holographic display materialized before him, presenting the analysis of the holy knight order's strength, agility, mana, and any other variables. Luckily they didn't seem strong at all.
In fact, they couldn't even match up to that Lu Shan guy whom Xin Ming had defeated in his original world.
Well, good for me I guess.
And with that, he was confident, he channeled his Qi densely in one spot, releasing it into a powerful Qi cannon.
[Qi Cannon has been unsealed]
With a swift motion of his hands, he unleashed a torrent of energy that surged outward, engulfing the entire temple. The force of the blast was overwhelming, shattering stone and sending debris flying in all direction, and the holy knights were easily blown away.
"Please don't kill them!" Lysandra suddenly gently touched Xin Ming's hand, as if pleading him to have mercy on the knights.
"They are only following orders, so please do not harm them." Her eyes widened like a puppy trying to beg for something.
However, Xin Ming never was going to kill them in the first place, that was in fact a waste of his time and bad for his reputation in this new world.
"I'm not going to kill them! Okay? So now let go of me please." Lysandra jolted her hands away from Xin Ming's, as if she never even realized it was there in the first place. With a slightly flushed face, she turns to face in the other direction and mumbles, "My apologies, I didn't mean to do that."
The knight who seemed to be the commander suddenly groaned, as if he was about to be conscious again.
Taking advantage of the chaos that was still present, Xin Ming seized the opportunity to grab the saintess's hand and pull her towards the nearest exit, determined to escape the clutches of their pursuer and this city.
With the city swarming with prying eyes and potential threats at every turn, Xin Ming knew they needed a plan to slip away unnoticed.
Thinking quickly, he recalled a labyrinth like location near this temple that crisscrossed beneath the city streets, which was easy to lose people in, after all Xin Ming was no stranger to swift escapes.
"Follow me," he whispered to the saintess, his voice barely audible over the chaos of the crumbling temple. "There's a way out of here, but we'll have to move fast and stay low."
Leading the way, Xin Ming rushed through the labyrinthine turns of the city, relying on his keen instincts and memory of the city's layout to escape. With each step, they remained vigilant, wary of any signs of pursuit by using Qi that spread out into thin threads which covered the nearest 500 metres.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity of tense silence and narrow escapes, they emerged into the relative safety of the city outskirts, the sounds of chaos and confusion fading into the distance behind them.
Taking a moment to catch their breath, Xin Ming and the saintess exchanged a silent glance, their resolve unwavering despite the obstacles that lay ahead. "We're not out of the woods yet, we have about an incense stick's time left until they check this location" Xin Ming said softly, his voice comforting the saintess.
As Xin Ming and the saintess approached the city walls, they found themselves faced with a new obstacle: a increased amount of guards was stationed at the gates, their watchful eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of Xin Ming or the saintess.
It seems like the whole city has been alerted, damn this demon bastard. I swear I'll get you back for this. How dare you sully my reputation with your twisted words.
"We need to find a way past them," Xin Ming murmured. "But we can't afford to draw attention to ourselves." The saintess nodded in agreement, her expression tense with apprehension. "Agreed. But how do we do that without alerting the guards?"
Xin Ming glanced around, searching for any potential routes or distractions that could aid their escape. Then, his eyes fell on a nearby alleyway, shrouded in shadow and seemingly abandoned.
"I have an idea," he said quietly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Follow me, and stay close." Moving swiftly but silently, Xin Ming and the saintess slipped into the alleyway, their footsteps muffled by the soft crunch of gravel beneath their feet. As they neared the end of the alley, Xin Ming motioned for the saintess to wait while he surveyed the scene ahead.
Peering around the corner, he spotted a lone guard standing watch at the gate, his attention focused on the bustling activity beyond. Seizing the opportunity, Xin Ming sprang into action, moving swiftly as he approached the guard from behind.
With a quick and precise strike, he incapacitated the guard without alerting the others, rendering him unconscious and clearing the way for their escape.
The guard lay sprawled on the ground, his uniform disheveled and his breathing shallow.
Gesturing for the saintess to follow, Xin Ming led her past the now-empty gate and out into the fields.
As Xin Ming and the saintess hurried away from the city gates, it wasn't long before they would find the unconscious guard that Xin Ming had knocked out earlier.
Xin Ming cursed under his breath, realizing that their escape might have been discovered sooner than he had anticipated. He quickly scanned the area for any signs of movement or approaching guards, but the coast appeared to be clear for the moment.
"We need to keep moving, this is an open field so we just need to blend in with the leaving crowd. We can't afford to linger here any longer." The saintess nodded in agreement, her expression troubled as she cast a wary glance back at the unconscious guard.
Xin Ming and the saintess moved slowly, blending in with the leaving crowd, their pace matching them. They adjusted their posture, adopting nonchalant expressions and blending seamlessly with the flow of pedestrians. Keeping their heads down and avoiding eye contact, they were one step away from successfully leaving.
"Attention, citizens!" the guard's voice boomed, cutting through the murmurs of the crowd. "The grand magus has arrived to inspect those departing the city. Remain orderly and prepare for inspection!"
Xin Ming and Lysandra exchanged tense glances.
