Chapter 9: A Brilliant Idea

"Pear Fragrance Garden is one of the top restaurants in Qingyang County, known for its diverse and delicious dishes. In particular, its business is booming at night. Tonight, both the waiters serving dishes and the customers dining looked towards a certain spot unanimously. 

At a four-person table by the window, a man dressed in a casual jacket, tall and handsome with an extraordinary air, was talking to a teenager. The teenager wore a beige pullover sweater paired with blue jeans, his delicate features and smiling eyebrows were extremely vivid. They looked like idols from movies and posters, and the small town had never seen such outstanding people before, so everyone admired them with curious glances. 

After picking up the teenager, Wei Minghai first went to the mall. Despite the teenager's attempts to stop him, he still bought a pile of clothes for him. He saw that the teenager looked good in every outfit, and even the salesgirls exclaimed in amazement and took photos with their phones.

Alex finished the meatball in his mouth and looked up with a smile, saying, "It's very delicious!" He preferred natural and light foods. 

Wei Minghai felt extremely delighted. He had never felt this way before. Seeing the teenager happy made him feel joyful too.

"Of course!" He had originally intended to bring the teenager back to stay for the night, to talk to him and understand his mindset. With the college entrance exam approaching, he wanted to ask if he was feeling any pressure and what school he hoped to attend. 

The teenager's bright smile made him lose focus for a moment. He felt that the teenager was getting more and more handsome, with eyes like flowing waves, provoking endless fantasies. 

What was he thinking? Wei Minghai quickly regained his composure. It seemed that recent pressure had caused his mood to fluctuate abnormally. 

"Have you finished eating?" 

He saw the young man nod and stood up. "Let's go then," he said. The longer he stayed, the more restless he felt.

Wei Minghai drove home in silence, and Alex didn't say a word either, until a phone rang. 

"Ah! What? Over there, OK, I'll be right there!" Wei Minghai answered the phone with a serious look, glanced at the teenager sitting next to him, and hung up the phone. 

Qin , I suddenly have a case to handle. Can you take a taxi and go back first? Here are your keys and money. He took out his wallet and gave the teenager several hundred-yuan bills and a bunch of keys. 

The teenager took the things and nodded obediently. So he let the teenager get off the car not far away and told him to take a taxi back immediately. 

As soon as Alex got out of the car, he saw the SUV speeding off in a certain direction. He tilted his head and stood thoughtfully for a moment, a slight smile on his lips. 

In the dormitory of the Qingyang County Tax Bureau, a terrified female corpse was lying on her back, without any injuries except for two small holes in her temple, which barely bled. 

"Director, the victim died of natural causes an hour ago. He was found by other colleagues nearby and the police were called immediately. The guard downstairs said that he saw a dark figure running away and that it was very fast," a police officer saw Wei Minghai enter the room and rushed forward to report the situation. 

Wei Minghai examined the female corpse and then said to the police officer next to him, "Notify the Information Department to pull up all the videos from the nearby surveillance cameras for the entire day, and also notify the forensic pathologist to conduct an autopsy." 

A few minutes later, a tall man in his thirties came in. He seemed to have come in a hurry, with his police uniform open and his police cap not on. As soon as the man came in, he shouted loudly, "Damn it, it's that pervert again. If I catch him, I'll beat the hell out of him." 

"Deputy Yu," several policemen shouted. 

"Lao Yu, there are still some people outside. Be careful," Wei Minghai saw Deputy Director Yu Gang, who was unkempt and rough-spoken, and immediately advised him with a frown. This deputy director was a bullish and straightforward person, and he had been getting along well with him since his transfer, except for some differences in opinions during meetings. 

Yu Gang didn't care, and continued: "Director, I'm just like this. I'm not as particular as you young people who have studied a lot. After more than a month of hard work, he dared to go against the wind and commit crimes. He simply doesn't take our police into consideration. I dare say that the dead man is definitely a virgin, really a his mother pervert." 

Wei Minghai did not deny Yu Gang's speculation. With the same method and cause of death, they studied the connections between several victims and found that they had no social relationships. The only thing they had in common was that they were all women, and all of them were virgins. 

This case also stumped him, there was no clue at all. The killer didn't leave fingerprints or footprints, and didn't know what kind of equipment he used to commit the crime. Thirdly, he always appeared at night, and the Tianyan didn't capture any images of him passing by. It seemed that the killer appeared out of thin air and suddenly disappeared. Only some witnesses said they saw a dark shadow flashing by. 

The biggest pressure is that such vicious incidents rarely occur in Qingyang County. If the case is not solved in one month and continues to occur repeatedly, the city will attach great importance to it and has decided to send the municipal criminal police brigade to take over the case on Monday, while their police station will assist in the investigation.

Wei Minghai felt a bit bored, but he kept his composure and carried out the relevant matters in an orderly manner.

Alex stood in the outer courtyard of the tax office next to Wei Minghai's SUV, with a dark and cloudy face. He felt a chilling aura as soon as he got out of the taxi, and his eyes narrowed as a dark shadow flashed through the trees fifty meters away.
