Loraine was stumped. He... wasn't going to let her into his car as they talked?

She bit her lip and said, "Mr. Zellweger, are we going to talk about it here, beside the road? Wouldn't it be bad if others overheard us?"

Without even blinking his eyes, Eddison said, "It doesn't matter. Just say it."

Loraine was hesitant for a while, but it was rare for Eddison to listen to her. She couldn't miss the opportunity.

She took a deep breath, looked into his eyes, and said, "Caroline came from the countryside." 

What she meant was that Caroline came from a poor background and that she was a country bumpkin who did not match Eddison's exalted identity. 

"Hmm," Eddison was calm and just grunted, an indication that he was listening. Yet, he did not express any opinion about it.
