"So what? If you weren't home yet, shouldn't they go out and check?"

Caroline fell silent. Well, he was the master of the family, so whatever he said was right! 

"Didn't you say that you would be back in five days? Why did you come back tonight?" Caroline asked in confusion, changing the topic.

Eddison raised an eyebrow at her and said, "We've only been married for a long time. I didn't want to leave you all alone, so I came back."

Caroline did not laugh, nor did she feel shy. Instead, she stared right into his eyes.
