Chapter 317 How Did She Win Him Over? (2)

After a brief silence, Erine asked, "Miss Simons, do you like reading? What books do you prefer?"

"I read everything, although I'm not well-versed in any of the genres. My favorite book is One Hundred Years of Solitude," Caroline answered.

Erine clenched her cup as she pondered on her words. She then plucked up her courage and asked, "Why do you like that book? Is it because it won the Nobel Prize for literature? What do you think about Love in the Time of Cholera then?"

"The award did make the book glow even more, but that wasn't the reason why I picked it as my favorite. It suits my tastes. The book you mentioned is great too, as it is a rare classical work. I enjoy English literature a lot, but among those two, I prefer One Hundred Years of Solitude."

"Miss Simons, may I know why?"

Caroline could not help but reveal a surprised expression at Erine. Somehow, she felt that the woman was trying to compete with her in terms of knowledge of literature.
