Lilian placed her glass in the sink, just as Allen had done.
"I want us to talk, darling," she said softly, noticing the displeasure etched on his face. He had mentioned earlier that she had hurt him the previous day, and it was clear he was still upset.
"I don't want to hear anything right now," Allen replied curtly, brushing past her as he made his way upstairs.
Lilian hurried after him, determined to address the tension before it deepened. She knew if he made it to his study, he might lock the door and shut her out. She slipped into the room just before he could close the door behind him. Allen held the door ajar, his expression firm.
"You don't have any business here. Go to the bedroom and sleep. I have work to do," he stated.
