When Alexandra finally married her childhood crush at the age of 25, she didn't expect that she would one day catch another woman in the arms of her husband while she hid in the bedroom closet. “Let’s go,” Caleb demanded as he grabbed Alexandra by her wrist without a warning, pulling her away from the chaos and out of the ballroom in a matter of seconds while both Ethan and Hannah watched them leave with a smug smile on their faces.

“Why are we the ones leaving?” Alexandra questioned, yanking her wrist out of his grasp as soon as they were out of their sight, just the two of them hidden behind a wall somewhere. 

Caleb let out a deep breath. “I have my reasons, Al. Trust me.”

“Well, they can’t just -”

“Hey, hey listen.”

He was now looking down at her with both hands on her shoulders as she had her back pushed up against the wall, their faces only a few inches apart. “What?” 

A smirk etched itself onto his face. “I promise they will regret everything they had said earlier.”

“How so?”

“You’ll find out soon.”

Elisha froze as she looked up at the unfamiliar face in shock with her lips agape while Alexandra's face instantly lit up with recognition.

That's her best friend standing before her eyes. She had rushed over first thing after coming back from her trip and hearing the news from a mutual friend.

"Kelly!" Alexandra exclaimed as her lips twitched upwards into a smile and the corners of her eyes crinkled together in delight. "I haven't seen you in so long. I missed you!"

Behind her, Elisha simply stared ahead with wide eyes for the longest time and she finally realised the situation she was knee-deep in. Her brain was working hard to find ways to wiggle out of this one. She needed to leave there before her friend blew her cover and exposed the truth. Her grip around the handles of the wheelchair tightened instinctively and her knuckles were starting to turn white.
